Summertime Blues

Comments (3)

How exciting is it to be an Everton fan right now — top of the league, UEFA cup run to follow? I honestly think we can be the happiest bunch in the Premiership thus far. That could suddently change as in the past when we've gone crazy after a couple of good results but things look bright.

After what was rather a miserable summer, looks like Manny is on his way (fingers crossed) and we'll have yet another gifted young player in our team.

To his credit, Moyes has slowly but surely instilled youth, determination, grit and skills into his Everton team. The overall value of our team has gone through the roof compared to pre-Moyes days and we now have players that other fans envy.

And I know several people (Man U fans, non-Everton fans) that have 2-3 Everton players in their fantasy football team. Shows how well resepected we've become compared to the fallen giants, bottom 5 finishers of a few years ago.

Have you noticed how nobody talks about Rooney anymore? Miss him, call him a traitor — whatever you think but he could have been one of the best things that happened to us. Combined with Euro/World Cup style temporary inflation, he provided the cash injection we needed for Moyes to begin his transformation.

Ground decisions aside, the team we have right now is a small but solid unit. The school of science grades have moved from yearly D's and E's to B+. We're not there yet but the gear has shifted in the right direction.

Long may it continue.

Your absolutely right Dan. I think any manager can only play the cards he is dealt, Moyes building of Everton reminds me of Don Revie building of Leeds way back when. Leeds played some of the most cynical soccer ever but they would get results. Nobody wanted to play them because it was always bruising and they were very hard to beat. Eventually though from a foundation of pure grit and graft they were able to become quite entertaining. I do believe that Everton are becoming a more exciting team to watch. In Arteta we have one of the best players to don the royal blue in years and years, that lad could play for any team on the planet. I am over the moon that Manny Fernandes looks like signing some of his play with Mikal last year was exquisite. The Yak, what else do you need to know second only to Henry in goals the last few seasons and he?s never played on a good team. A fucking battering ram of a number 9. He would be an absolutely fantastic addition to an already good side.

Good post, sums up how were all feeling at minute, slightly disagree with Mike Dolan, dont think were cynical at all! Hard working, yes, but not dirty as our disciplinary record reads. Everyone has an opinion on football, one of mine is that you have to earn the right to play. I think we do that now. Long may it continue!! COYB
