Moyes Out
Comments (52)
The start to the season has proved Marshy and the other Moyes-haters have been right all along and that David Moyes is officially clueless. With only 5 goals scored in our first 2 games and maximum points gained, the fact is with this idiot at the helm not spending money on greats like Nugent and Koumas (both of them having set the Premier League on fire thus far) we've got what we deserve in the league and a season on battling relegation beckons.
That Osman has proved to be so ineffective thusfar and we would have been much better with Richardson. Whilst Alan Smith would have been far better than having to make do with Victor upfront. Moyes out I say — anyone know a good leaflet firm?

Absolutely. Don’t forget we’ve got some idiot called Manuel Fernandes signing in soon, he’s not even a championship player, conference perhaps. not a clue at Everton!

As extreme as you complain about the extremists, two games isn’t a whole season yet, just enjoy it and shut up wingeing

Chris Leyland....very clever lad, but let’s not forget, for every 3-0 derby romp there is a 5-1 humiliation to Man City. For every admirable 4th place finish there is a 4th from bottom humiliation. I am unashamedly a David Moyes critic. I have watched his desperate brand of football for too long and had completely lost faith in him. However the Spurs debacle last season, when Moyes felt the full force of Evertonian anger towards his negative approach, seems to have woken him out of his coma. Since that night I have nothing but praise for his efforts. While not brilliant, we now actually seem to want to win matches. Retaining possession still appears to be a crime (take a look at the stats against Wigan and Spurs)but on the whole things have improved. So don’t get too smug Chris, after all this is Everton, in two weeks time the shit may have hit the fan (again).

Just on the Koumas/Nugent thing...
at the time I thought "oh they might be good, evertonians too..." but after seeing their (admittedly) early season form, I cant help agreeing that EFC dodged a couple of lemon-shaped bullets.
Did you see Nugents 1st touch when put right thru on goal? He fell over his own feet ffs! Turns as fast as milk too...

Credit were credit is due Chris, however, its been a long time coming and not without humiliation along the way.
Lets hope things continue in this vein and Moyes continues to recieve the plaudits he deserves, all he has to do for me is win something.

Erm, 2 games, 6 points, fernandes due to sign. on the look out for a new striker. form of arteta? i would say that things are looking pretty good. is it not the first time we have won both games at the start of the season for about 12 years or so?? enjoy it while it lasts!

I have to admit that Moyes has maybe looked clever in avoiding potential signings..Could be good judgement or just good luck but theres no denying that I think he could have had a lucky escape with David Nugent also... I said straight from the start I could not see why every man and his dog were raving about a player who had not even topped the scoring charts in Division 1.. He scored less than Michael Chopra but there was no clamour for ’Chops’ as Keane calls him..He is an Evertonian.. So what?? Doesnt mean he is going to be a world beater really does it?. We’ve had Evertonians before and tried to build them up only to be let down woefully..Its early days but I saw Nugent alot playing for Preston and I couldnt get so excited about making a 6 million bid for him as some people..Koumas?? Looks a bit stronger than when he last played in the Prem but where in our midfield would we have put him?. Too similar to Osman ( without the goals of Osman maybe) and nowhere near Arteta’s class...If Moyes signs two more and they are Fernandes and Yakubu I would regard this summer well thought and bought.

Ok, so it’s a bit of "I told you so". I’m sure the same would have happened from the anti-Moyes bunch had we lost our first two games.
However, I feel that, save the odd blip, the improvement since Moyes arrived has been steady. Remember the state the club was in when he arrived! Minimul transfer budget has meant we have had to resort to creating a solid hard-working team that is hard to beat, and he is now trying to add some quality.
It’s only two games and we all know how fragile form can be. I will say one thing though, it’s easier to keep winning than it is to stop losing.
I think Moyes is doing just fine, and if he did, for some reason, leave Everton, I think there would be a lot of clubs out there fighting for his signature.
Here’s to continued success for the team. Whether you are pro-Moyes or anti-Moyes, you’ve gotta be pleased with this start.

Mr Mars Bar you are light years away from the truth yet again,I’m loving it but not so naive as to think we will suddenly go the whole season unbeaten, call myself a supporter? I have been going to the match home and away for years, season ticket holder for years so wind you neck in and stop talking bollocks, supported the team with my hard earned wedge and still not hiding behind some bollocks name either.

I think your being a bit premature - we’ve played two games!! Moyes has done fantastically well this summer on transfers and the team has done him proud. However the season is 4 days old, we’ve played twice as many games as some of the clubs so shouting from the rooftops that we are top of the league is something a small club would do. Lets evaluate where we are at Christmas before we start back slapping or criticising.

Just a quick note on the Nugent thing, and something to prove DM is a shrewd manager. Spoke to a reporter regarding DM & Nugent, he only felt he was good enough to get in the squad, not a first team regular, so would not pay the money being asked.
Looking like a good move.
Also, thought we were all Blue Noses here, so many arguements. We are Everton people, so sit back and enjoy the rollercoaster!

Top of the League gents, and he hasn’t used any of the new players as a starter yet. Moyes is superb. Even if you don’t like him (straight jacket nurse) you must see that his passion for the club shines through. Do think Rathead Beneathus actually loves his cesspit club? No way. He sees it purely as a tool to further himself (and that dead ferret he currently has hanging off his face). Moyes’ passion and affection for our (his) club - combined with his managerial and coaching skills - it’s a winner for me everytime. Give the man credit. Some of you act as if Himmler’s been put in charge of the Salvation Army - rather than a talented, passionate manager helping to get a once great club, that had fallen dramatically downwards, back climbing to the heights again. A club where really good players now want to sign. It’s been a few years since that was the case. Get behind Moyes, get behind the Blues and together we can achieve anything. (Although it may take time)! COYB!!!

Gavin ...you may call me terry.as that is my name..
although what moniker i decide to use on this site has no bearing on my opinion ...plenty of people will know me just by the username..
I am 42 and have been going to the game for 36 years..some good, some, great, some bad, some awful:
Throughout that time it has often irked me when I am forced(at the gameT to listen to doom merchants such as yourself..Out of all the"doom merchants" on here the closest we come to any decent debate is probably through Brian Waring..the worst being yourself and the truly laughable Tony Marsh,,
As a young boy..my father and grandfather used to tell me how the shites fans were crying in the pub about how "Shankly had to go" as we had just won the league (my 1st season going to watch ) and many would have like to have seen him out..my dad simply said ,"they dont realise what they have".
Many years later..a team just down the east lancs were also going thru a rebuilding period ..and there was talk of last chances and ferguson out...well 9 titles, a european cup ..and a few spare Fa cups later...
None of these things are achieved without "SUPPORT"..be that from the board , the fans ..or just the players...but the more.."SUPPORT" a team has..or even a manager..then the easier and more productive.his job becomes.
Today is Friday...Not yourself or Tony marsh have yet had one good thing to say about the first two games..not because youhavent been on..or thru lack of time..
Its because it has made you look stupid..it refutes your predictions of doom..it makes what you say look ill advised and bitter.
I am not a fool, I realise that, we may not win a thing this season,we may not qualify for europe,we may go out of every cup at the 1st hurdle:
But I love my team..so I support them , in the hope that we win..and i take it one game at a time..and I shout to the heavens when we win..and I am sad when we lose..but while he his here and especially given his record since being in charge, I will support David Moyes all the way..If we lump it forward(when we have to)..If we kick lumps out of the opposition...If we play like Brazil..(see 10 man display at spurs last year)..or if we just scre them to death with our passion and tempo and never say die(see LFC at home last year)
We have gone from being relegation fodder..to being EXPECTED..to qualify for europe..and now viewed by many as the team to break up the BIG FOUR....
Yes we all want more..but the best way to help the team(because obviously as a SUPPORTER this ios what you want) is to cheer them on..make them feel better than they really are...or if you cant do that be constructive , come up with an idea..dont just say "YOUR SHITE..FUCK OFF"
when my son plays football,he makes mistakes..its not always perfect..but I love watching..and I cheer him on all thru the game..
Then at the end when he asks"how did I play Dad"?..I’ll say ."you played great son..but you could of, maybe tried..this or that..etc
So next time he tries..and agin its never perfect..because footbal is not...nothing is surer in football than disappointment..its the very nature of the game..its about highs and lows..a bit like life.
I think you need to relax and enjoy the highs, if you can.if you want to?
Because you must have a pretty shitty life if all you can do or ever will do when the lows come is say.."I TOLD YOU SO".

Marsbar you are definetly living in another GALAXY.I came straight on after the Spurs game praising the boys after thier great win.You keep going over the same TOPIC and its starting to drive me PEANUTS. It was definetly a TREAT to see an away win in London and Smooth Creamy MILKWAY in which we won was WONDERBAR.
Arteta showed us all the tricks in his SELECTION BOX and the way in which he MALTEASERED the Spurs defence was TURKISH DELIGHTFULL to watch.Did you see his FRUIT AND NUTMEG.Pure class. And the cross for the first goal wow.The way he CURLYWURLIED the ball in for that was amazing.Must say though that the Spurs defence was a bit FLAKEY and the way they ROLOED over made it easy for us.At times the Spurs side looked as though they were out on a PICNIC and we could so easily had CLUB record away win.At last our players are showing some pride in the KIT KAT and on Tuesday night we fought like LIONSBARS and the whole team where fantastic.Your right Terry I do deserve 2 CHOCOLATE FINGERS>as the whole team were great.STARBARS everyone of em.

Terry many thanks for your reply, first thing is where in my first response to the mailbag item say I was complaining? You read and made up your own response simple as, secondly I have always said Marsh has very acidic views and fires from the hip but never hidden behind when I have agreed with him. Finally I am currently working on the world’s largest project of it’s kind for the MoD which means I have to travel significant distances to MoD sites wherever they may be and believe me the UK isn’t the limit to it so haven’t always got web access thanks to heightened security alerts where I am working, after a mere 38 years to your 42 I can probably say we have watched the same highs and lows but I don’t pretend to bury my head in the sand when it’s shite and stick to my guns equally I don’t complain if it’s going well either. I renew my season ticket every year despite getting more flack over it being better spent on my wife and son too but it’s my entertainment and as soon as my son is old enough it will be his too, my wife is from Wigan and has no interest in football or chase the egg rugby either.
Can you point out my predictions of doom for me too as as far as I can remember I have posted a few about the ground move and a few clamouring for squad depth saying I hope injuries don’t bite us on the arse with the increased games or can’t you see that happening with injuries, suspensions and international call ups?
So not a told you so as I’m 38 not 12 but demanding the best as a paying customer, supporter and lifelong lover of Everton Football Club.

Cracking post Terry but getting back to the topic of DM I would just say look at the club now and compare it to when Walter left it to see how well Davey has done. With WS we were perenially fighting relegation with a geriatric squad none of which you could even give away ’on a free’ just to get the ridiculously over-inflated wage bill down. Now we have a superb(but paper-thin) squad, with every player worth more than what we got them for, which have produced 2 top 6 finishes in the last 3 years. If only we had the finances to compete at the very top I think we would have done even better.
Is DM negative in his footballing tactics? Yes, but is that not at times a good thing when on a limited budget? WHUFC went down with Cole, Lampard, Carrick & Defoe because they had to be a ’footballing’ side. DM’s negative tactics sometimes drives me nuts when we’re 1 up front at home to a crap side but some of the sneaked results against clubs with 10 times our budget have made me ecstatic. If he was manager of Real Madrid, who’s to say he would use the same tactics he does now.
As a spokesman for the club he has few peers, you can count on one hand the times something he says has made you cringe, unlike that clown from across the park.
He may one day (like Joe Royle did) lose the plot, but at the moment I just see him learning from his mistakes i.e. panic buying AVdM, Valente & Beattie etc one year then getting in early the next with Howard, Lescott & Johnson.
Is David Moyes lucky to be manager of EFC? Yes, who wouldn’t be! Does he deserve to manager of EFC? Absolutely!

Totally agree...if you judge D.M by his predecessors then he is doing a pretty good job..although as you point out , not always pretty to watch but generally effective..and as he makes new additions to the squad Im sure we will see more of the flair football played but hopefully without any detriment to results

For the record I’m a huge Moyes fan, always have been. Fantastic job he’s done with the resources at his diposal. BUT! Don’t get carried away. Last time we won our first 2 games we had beat Wimbledon on the last day of the season courtesy of Barry Horne, Graeme Stuart and Hans Segers!!! I’m really negative, even when we’re fourth at Christmas with 36 points I’ll looking for a win and a draw to get to the 40 benchmark, then I’ll start thinking about Europe. Be nice to be on 9 by the weekend!

Sorry lads. Changing the subject here. Breaking news on Sky Yakubu has been left out of the Boro squad. His move to Everton has got a step closer. A figure of 11mill has been agreed. Yak is expected to sign by the end of the week. Manny is doing the 2nd part of his medical and is expected to sign in the next few hours. Moyes was asked about where the money is coming from. He basically said he told the board they need to provide him with the tools to do his job. Getting excited now.

All good teams take time to build, just look at Sir Alex at Man Utd. David Moyes has admitted that soon you will see his team, in fact the fruits of his stealth were evident last season with a 6th place finish and only 36 goals conceded. Move on to another season, he has purchased two new defenders in Baines and Jageilka, and along with Lescott it is quite possible in the not to distant future that Everton could provide three of Englands back four.Move onto the midfield, we have just purchased Fernandes,to compliment Mikel the magician, in Fernandes i have no doubts that this boy will become one of the best midfielders in Europe, undoubted skill, class, vision, shooting ability and the boy can tackle. The possibility of Vogel getting his wish to leave Betis also excites me, this player will sit in front of the back four and never misplace a pass, Peter Reid type comes to mind, and will be steadying influence like the excellent but aging Carsley. Upfront, well we have AJ who pulls defenders all over the place, Vaughny and Victer who could be anything, and also the new arrival, and there will be another striker in before the end of the month. All this leads me to think Everton will be extremely hard to beat, have a hard working creative midfield that will grind down other teams, and posses a young and free scoring forward line. I think the Moyes baiters days are numbered and they should ask themselves what do they want, probably a padded cell or better still corrective eye surgery. We are on the verge of something special, get ready for an exciting ride. The skies are blue and every cloud will have a silver lining. We should thank god that we have got such a good man in charge, get behind him and the team.I dont think a new season has ever been awaited with such eager anticipation

What a great series of posts - terrific entertainment. We have the ’virtual’ equivalent of cock fighting; two sides of the IMWT argument going hell for leather at each other.
However ... I thought it was the rs that we were supposed to be fighting against, not ourselves?
I suspect the real argument is somewhere in the middle - I suppose it always is. Perhaps the current scenario is:
- Played 2, won 2,
- early days,
- playing some reasonable stuff, but still worried about the lack of ability to pass and hold onto the ball (some notable players excepted),
- need to build squad with proven quality not just numbers,
- all could yet go wrong but at present no need to panic,
- judge everyone later in the season when we get a balance of good and (the inevitable) not so good form.
I am not a Moyes believer or hater, but I do think that the ’new Moyes’ post THFC home last season deserves more rope. It is then up to him as to what he does with it - hang himself (and EFC) or pull us (and him) further up the standings - and no, I don’t think anyone believes us to be the best team in the land just because we are top after 2 games. Remember we are in this for the long haul.
By the way, vote NO and force a proper, open, informed debate. Don’t let anyone tell you that a NO vote would kill Kirkby - no business would do that if it had genuine merit - the Board would just try to persuade everyone to change their minds. It’s just at present there are too many unknowns for anyone to make a reliable, informed decision on something this momentus.

It looks like Moyes has known all along what he was doing as regards transfers. How many people were demanding we spunk our budget on Keiron fcuking Richardson a few weeks back? Hats off to you Dave.
Anyone else on this site (Tony Marsh?) got the balls to admit they were wrong with their assumptions of 'transfer ineptitude'? I didn't think so....
