The Mail Bag

Much blinding in the Marsh (household)

I imagine that Tony Marsh is a very unhappy man at the moment. That`s the problem with holding a polarised view - you`re likely to look a prat when the opposite to what you predict happens. Still it will only take one defeat for Moyes to re-gain `wanker` status and Kenwright to be back to Scrooge for only investing £30M or so in the present window.

And where has dear old Doddy gone to? I thought he would be filling the after-match columns with Great Moyesiah stories and proclaiming his beloved Blue Bill as the most generous chairman since Abramovitch. The relative absence of these zealots from the mailbag has, at least, provided space for more balanced views to be aired. All in all, I think the Mailbag has taken a turn for the better with most posters praising the manager and team but recognising that there`s an awful long way to go.

I hope we sew up Fernandes and Yakobu ? they will be great additions to the squad although don`t expect too much from them early on. But returning to my theme, is there any chance that Marsh and Dodd will one day recognise the colour grey? I guess not but perhaps that`s what makes the Mailbag such a compulsive read!

I have clashed with Mr Marsh on a few issues over the past couple of months.

But to be fair to the lad, he was genuinely chuffed that we beat Spurs, so let’s give him a break eh?

I would like to start by saying how impressed I am by our start to the season, well done boys. I believe Moyes is doing the right thing and that there have been quite a few hiccups on the way. I was as embarrassed/stressed after some of the humiliating defeats we have suffered under Moyes but also never more happier than some of the best results we've ever had in the Premier League. My point is that I believe we have got a manager who is willing to learn albeit quite slowly but we are getting there on the pitch anyway. The Board need a kick up their arse as should LCC as well. What difference does it make playing in Kirby? This is I believe the only option we have.

Marsh was on here immediately after the Spurs game and was very happy with our performance.

Anton I thought Everton were dreadfull on Saturday and Fantastic on Tuesday. We did well last season in terms of league placings but also put in some
shocking performances around the start of the year.I was still at the games paying my money so I am entitled to my say I reckon. If we continue as we are at present in to next year then yes we can start screaming from the roof tops but its only 2 games in so lets not get to carried away .We have been down this road before but for now lets enjoy it while it lasts

I,too, posted immediately after our opening victories.Neither letter was published and I assume that the editors have either acceded to those contributors who would see me banned or that fulsome praise of our manager and players do not fit their agenda. We must know the truth!

Your contributions were posted, Richard, just not where you expected them. Click Here. Now quit your moaning! ? Michael

I agree with Tony that Everton werent great on Saturday but I tend to forget that when we win and I think the players do too,its wins that bread confidence and help the team kick on,remember last seasons start at home to Watford when we got an undeserved penalty to win? We went on to have a fine league campaign and I hope for at the very least, the same this time round!

Doddy, I think you have a point as I submitted a complimentary post entitled ’IMWT!’ after the Spurs game, but that did not make it past the Editorial gestapo either!

Tony Marsh is afraid of defeat, he’s set himself up so that if Everton win he enjoys it but if they lose he can absolve himself of that defeat by claiming "I told you so".

Thats a very safe way of ensuring you are never totally gutted after a defeat.

Personally I wear my heart on my sleeve. When Everton win I’m overjoyed and when they lose I am completely gutted. Either way I support the team and hate to hear people knocking them.

When Everton lose I know how much the fans suffer and I would never gloat by saying I you so. I couldn’t bear to make an Everton fan feel worse after a defeat, thats as low as you can go in my book.

Lets hope when Everon eventually do lose Tony Marsh manages to contain himself.

Doddy lad, there is no way the editorial team would ban you, where would we be for gut busting laughs without you ?

I could lose my bearings if Tony and Richard dissapeared. By using a kind of dead reckoning somewhere north of Tony and south of Richard is about right.

Tony must be one of the most miserable, abusive, self opinionated contributors I have seen.

Thank fuck
