Would it be possible to sack Andy Van Der Meyde... and how does David Moyes go about doing it?

It's time to get rid of this time waster. How many chances has he been given?
Chris Lawlor

Well it looks like Andy's blown his 12th last chance. Suspended for a week and docked a maximum fine, Surely Davy's had enough of this misfit. I doubt very much we'll recoup the money we paid, but surely getting shut of the waster will alleviate the wage demands. Apparantly he didnt turn up for training on Sunday. A complete tit!

So about a month after his public pledge to fight for his position in the team, Shandy is back at it again...

While it doesn't say why he didn't turn up for training, i think we know he spent a bit longer than the others at the local.

Surely now that has to be the last straw with the lad? Maybe flog him to West Ham as a Dyer alternaitve

Easy,

What a waste of talent he is! So many chances and he lets us down all the time. I was one of the few still hoping that he could produce some form for us but I feel that will never arrive now. I believe this will be the final straw for DM and BK.

Moyesy has suspended him for being a tit. Surely this is his last chance? He must cost us a fortune in wages and medical bills. Get rid!

Personally I've always harboured hope that given a run in the first team he would start turning in some of the star performances he is capable of. However it looks like he'll be out the door by the end of the month.

My guess is he won't play in the blue of EFC again. We all hoped he would someday come good, especially me cos I love watching skillful wingers, but this is it now, get him out!

How pathetic. We gave him every chance possible, but he just wastes it.

In my view he has broken his contract on more than one occasion and that means (in my non-lawyer world) Everton are within their rights to tear the contract up. It is a shame because he was a great player. There have been piss-artist footballers in the past but they always seemed to be able to do a job on Saturdays (Tony Adams for one). This guy just can’t do it. He is a waste of space and time.
Rob Prince
14   Posted 17/08/2007 at 17:29:45

Unbelievable. This guy has to be utterly brain dead. How many warnings does he need? Bye bye Andy Van der Meyde. See you in the Job Centre on monday morning

Its not Andys fault his English is not so good. When Moyes called a team meeting on Wednesday and said to the squad.Look lads get behind BK he wants the loop out and the suits at Bestway to fail.
Shandy thought he said look lads get your Best Suits on were going on the ale.

Moyes has a downer on AVdM.He never plays him and uses any excuse to suspend him. After all he didn’t ask to have his house raided or his car and dog nicked.Anybody who’s met the guy will tell you he’s great company and far from the only Everton player to like a bevvie.I just hope Moyes will give him a fresh start.

Can I please be first in line to kick the shit out of him please, I am desperate, that low life pig. Allan Whittle, Jimmy Morrissey, and now we have a drugie on board, get rid, now, tonight.

There was me wondering why he was looking miserable last night in the Bromborough ASDA, sporting a huge diamond in his ear - mind you his Missus had filled the trolley, probably wondering how he was going to pay for it all !!!

John Charles
20   Posted 17/08/2007 at 17:40:09

Can’t sack him, well you could, but we’d have to pay his contract up in full, which kindof defeats the point of the object.

You can onyl sack him for gross misconduct, which missing one session -no matter how bad that is and i agre e - is not gross misconduct (Lee Hughes was gross misconduct).

Probably the best course of action if give him a free thus saving 20k a week or 1m a year in wages? He’s way down the pecking order anyway... of course, Kendrick et al will love giving a 1.8m signing a free, but if you dont take risks in the transfer market you’ll never have success.

John Charles how about we send him on loan? Maybe Sheffield Utd or another could pay half his wages and help him get his form back.

Then after 6 months we could sell him in January.

Once again Shandy Andy proves what a complete waste of fans money he is. How many chances does the fat, edam chomping eejit need? why can’t he realise that moyes has already been fairly easy on him and given him god knows how many chances??Get him out on his arse moysey! he’s not worthy of even being associated with Everton.

24   Posted 17/08/2007 at 18:09:41

I’ve been an AVDM believer ever since he joined and even backed him over the last few(?) skirmishes. It’s now got to the point where it is irrelavent what I think he COULD be and the pure fact is he can not be bothered.

It will be a massive loss as far as another member of the squad will be gone but it is time to remove him from Evertons wages and save however much he is earning as he clearly is never going to be the player we want him to be.

Let another team do all the hoping (and paying!!)

25   Posted 17/08/2007 at 18:15:04

An unprofessional charlatan who should be kicked out of the club, when you think of the hard graft that the team has put in to secure the first two wins, and this lazy bastard cant be bothered to turn up for training, wont the players just love this waster. Talent, havent seen any, we dont need disruptive players like him who devalue the club. Send him on a free preferably to Siberia then he will know whats its like to really get frozen out
Tom Morris
26   Posted 17/08/2007 at 18:23:21

Tony,

"A massive loss" ?

The fella has been a total waste of oxygen as far as Everton are concerned. His appearance record even before he came to us was nothing short of scandalous (about 15 games in 3 seasons with Inter, or something like that).

He was always going to be a high risk signing, and so it’s proved.

I, like I think the others who hoped he’d come good in the end, have realised he won’t come good. He’s got to go. We don’t need him.
Jeremy B
29   Posted 17/08/2007 at 19:01:40

I really cannot even begin to understand the people who think he might come good and be given a chance.

In all honesty, I think its been an embarassment to the club, and to those that recommended/signed him.

At least kroldrup didnt cost much in wages - VDM has cost us a significant amount, and we need to offload in whichever way is possible, paying him off if need be - cant be good around the training field/dressing room.

30   Posted 17/08/2007 at 18:59:57

The fact that the club have gone public with this surely means that is it regarding Andy. The boy has talent but he has literally pissed it all away. What a fucking shame. He really could’ve been a contender.
John Charles
31   Posted 17/08/2007 at 19:05:47

Jason:

yeah personally I doubt a championship club is going to pay his full wages though - and thats surely what it is about now, getting shut of him and saving the most amount of money possible.

We’d be better just giving him a free rather than loaning him - I think he only has two years on his contract anyway. If he goes on loan this year he’d only hve 1 year to run anyway so the fee would be low.

You know mate, the way I look at it is its 1.8m fee. We all see VDM potential but his attitude isnt right.. I just think we’re better getting shut, writing it off. If Everton can’t take chances in the 1.8m brack on a player who’s last mvoe was 5m to Inter Milan then we arent ambitious enough. Thankfully we are and we did and for ever Van Der Meyde there is an Arteta or Cahill.
John Charles
32   Posted 17/08/2007 at 19:10:08

btw - 20k a week wages is basically 1m per year. So you see how getting 1m fee back next year is off-set by losing the wages we pay him now.
Lee Spargo
33   Posted 17/08/2007 at 19:22:04

Van Der Meyde potentially can be sacked. The question is will Everton do it?

It does not have to be gross misconduct to be a sacking offence as some others seem to have suggested. Repeated acts of misconduct will sufffice and Van Der Meyde has had official warnings from the club in the past. The club do, however, have to follow the official disciplinary procedure.

The fact that he has been fined suggests to me that he will not be sacked. From my own personal experience, I have never seen somebody fined (or suspended without pay to you and me) and then sacked. If we had suspended him on full pay and not fined him, then that would suggest he was going to be sacked.

It will probably be a case that we tell him that he is no longer wanted and he either has the option to agree to terminate his contract by mutual agreement, or we let him rot in the reserves for the rest of his contract.

See you later Andy. Knobhead.

If he had a proper job like everybody else he would be collecting his job seekers allowance now. Bet he goes and opens his own pub the stupid twat. you see the clip of him on sky sports news the only clip they had was of him missing the ball and falling on his arse..well thats what hes done now fell on his arse.

37   Posted 17/08/2007 at 21:27:28

So after spending all summer promising the fans we will finally see the best of him, AVDM once again lets us all down.

Moyes should have known AVDM would not turn up for Sunday training, he would still have Saterday nights hangover.
Ger Johnson
38   Posted 17/08/2007 at 21:39:59

This guy should never be allowed wear an Everton shirt again. Even a side without half as much of a team spirit and unity as ours would not accept this. Problem is, no club would touch him with a barge pole after all his arsing around, but frankly getting a fee for him is the least of our worries now. As the lads have pointed out he’s just a waste of money, he doesn’t deserve a fiver a week never to mind the amount he’s probably getting. Maybe some sort of ’mutual’ agreement to dissolve the contract??
Moyes has certainly bent over backwards for the guy and VDM has no-one to blame but himself at this point. And with Fernandes in, Yakubu on his way (please God) and possibly Vogel still to come, VDM is about as useful as a cock flavoured lollypop. We didn’t have him for all of last season so he’s not going to be much of a loss anyway.

Hello is that Bryan Robson....look we’ve got this star forward.....
Stan Sheppard
40   Posted 17/08/2007 at 23:19:05

Haha... Nice one Nev.

I think the thing that annoys Everton fans most about VDM is that he has the chance all of us wish we had yet he’s pissing it up against the wall and we struggle to comprehend how anyone could behave like this.

There is surely no way back for him now. Who knows, some Dutch club may want to take him back home.

It is sad though that a footballer in his late 20s with a better than average talent just doesn?t seem to want anymore.

In clear breaches of contract this highly paid scoundrel has cheated the club and its fans. As a lesson to him and a warning to other potential backsliders he should be sued for every penny paid to him.

I reckon it will probably strengthen spirit with the lads though eh?

if one of your work mates was taking the piss making more money than you you;d be resentful right? I know I would... a few will be saying "serves him right lazy qunt" for sure.

The maimum fine is 2 weeks pay under FA premier league rules, so fine him that every 2 weeks untill his contract is up simple.
