If anyone is in doubt about how far we've come in recent times, have a look at this link on the Blue Room One of the more intelligent posts on the BR but seemingly provoked no reaction.

It really is shocking. I saw that earlier and as much as I knew it was true, I didn’t want to believe it. Everton really has went through some terrible times, but my friends we are back.

For Smiffy,

The article is comparing signings from 10 years ago,
John Oster Grimsby 1.5m
Terry Thomas from Tranmere 400k
Mitch Ward 750k S. Utd
Carl Tiler 750k S.Utd
Thomas Myhre 800k Viking
Don Hutchinson S Utd 1m
Alex Clelland Rangers free

with the recent signings and were Everton are now. I used to work off shore, but it was so long ago I did’nt know what a computer was!!

Chris and John, thanks very much.

Christ, there are some absolute corkers in there hey!!! Danny Williamson, poor sod, he had to retire at a young age didn’t he due to a dodgy knee? Only played a handful of games in about 3 years for us?

If i remember rightly Danny Williamson had a foot injury that just wouldn’t clear up. He looked a decent signing too, which was a shame for the lad. Personally I think the message there is not to sign any players from West Ham. Bilic looked a great signing too...!

...actually, we think WE’VE made progress. Love to see the same comparison done for Chelsea ;-)

Yes this is progress of the squad Moyes inherited only 3 remain, Hibbo, stubbs and Carsley. Due to age not performance the last two may leave at the end of this season. If they do I wiill wish them all the luck in the world.

If you look at pages on this site and examine the squad we had when he arrived I would suggest his first five years have been a success with revamping the squad. But he now needs to kick on and win a trophy or two.
