Everton's No-Stars

Comments (7)

There's an interesting quote from Lee Carsley on the BBC football site today, where he states that "There are no massive stars around ? we just have a lot of good players." This confirms what I have been thinking for a while now, which is just how much team spirit and "togetherness" can contribute to a team's performance.

I think David Moyes has created a stable, friendly working atmosphere at the club, and Carsley's quote reminded me of the tag that the championship-winning team of the 80s earned. It just feels good that, in this era of money, media and celebrity, our club are functioning in an earnest, traditional fashion, and making good progress.

I would agree with you in relation to the current set of players that we have Matt. However, the club has started down the road of signing bigger name players like Yakubu for big fees. There can often be an ego attached to these players that can be hard to like.

I think that this is a new challenge for Moyes in how he handles the dressing room and team spirit.

All well and good but now the tester: at 1-0 down does Moyes bring on Jags and Pienaar and try to win this game? Making subs half way through the second half will no be no good - go dynamic and progressive mr moyes FFS

Piennar on now. I knew Valente would be shite today, but not this shite. We’ll do well to get a draw today.

Playing us at our own game and we’ve no plan B. This is a bit worrying Blues.....

Too many below par performances today and letting them score from a long throw that bounced in the box was crazy. Looking for Silver lining, thought Faddy was great...shame it took Vic to be injured before bringing him on!

Chris Lawlor....why were you surprised? Everton specialise in having no plan B.....on and off the field.
