Where's Our Manny?

Comments (10)

Let's all try and forget the Reading loss for the moment: win some lose some. What's more important is Manuel Fernandes. Yesterday, Moyes said that in 24 hours he expected Fernandes to be an Everton player. Well, 24 hours has long gone and, surprise, surprise ? no announcement of Fernandes signing.

After spending so long setting up this deal, I really hope Everton don't go and blow it at the last hurdle. The Reading defeat was annoying but Fernandes could be one of the most important signings Moyes has ever made. What's going on, eh, Moyes?

Two points: I don't know how your brain works (and frankly I'd prefer not to) but to ask everyone to just forget that we lost a winnable game is utter bollocks. Whether you like it ot not, that will be the talking point for a few days yet. It's about the football; that's why most of us are fans ? the football.

As for Fernandes and the ridiculous promises we've heard from all and sundry about players being signed "within 24 hours"... WHY? Why do people have to make such predictions? Why do people have to make any predictions? Worse, why do you put yourself into the position of believing them? Transfers either happen when we see the player paraded.... or they don't. Anything else is 100% bollocks.

I have a feeling they are going to parade Fernandes and Yakubu at the same press conference on Monday... Lets wait and see.

You should have known better than to think Michael would let you forget an Everton loss. I think someone said the other night that if Everton lose against Reading then we’ll have Tony Marsh etc...back on with the gloom. How depressing.

Dutch, I’ve been thinking the same thing about Manny all weekend. We all know what he’s capable of ie: the goal against Man U and the sublime pieces of skill at Goodison last season. Two points: Hopefully the Manny and Yak signings aren’t just a smokescreen designed to win fans over in the last week of the Kirkby vote? And second, where the hell are we getting @19 million from to sign these 2 not including wages?

isn’t it the fact that we have the Transfer all wrapped up bar some paper work with the other 50% of the transfer, which they said may take some time, hence why it’s not official yet

I’m waiting for Manny to sign, and then be rolled out by the club. With him Stating why we should move to Kirkby, and that was the main reason he signed.

I wasn’t suggesting we completely forget the Reading defeat and pretend it didn’t happen, I just meant that in the grand sceme of things signing Manny is far more important then losing a tricky away tie.

Michael - in all due respects, I think Dutch has a point and to question his cognitive thought processes and ability is borderline rude. People have a right to proffer their views on this website without what makes them human being called into question by the editor.

The point being is that it is football, like all sports, and like it your not, your team is going to win some and its gonna pretty much assured (unless you are a magnificent Arsenal team) to lose some over the course of a long season.

We all want Everton to win and do well and perhaps they just played poorly today and not as well as they couldve played; Arteta hasnt turned into a bad player overnight nor has the team that beat Tottenham so magnificently either.

So yes, lets discuss what went wrong and where we can improve and be constructive and look forward to next week. But lets also get some perspective on the matter: It is early in the season and it is football, the players are human, and defeats do happen.

Dutch gets bullied on this internet site, but I have to admit Michael made me laugh...sorry Dutch.
I agree with Jason in that Yakubu and Fernandes will be paraded together.
Its strange because I was really exited about signing these two and my expectations were through the roof but now its taken the gloss off it somewhat......

Relax ! Moyes said he expects Fernandes to become an Everton player, and he hoped to seal the deal within 24 hours. The price is agreed, Manny’s obviously happy to come back to Goodison, so I’ve no doubt that it will happen.

The lack of official news about Yakubu is making me more nervous, but the Independent article gave a clue as to the reason for this : a couple of other clubs may be prepared to leap in given half a chance. So we are trying to sign him up without advanced fanfare. Looks like there’s a decent chance that we’ll be able to unveil both signings on Monday.

Hi everyone I?m a mad aussie everton supporter and love the blues to death. I can?t wait for it to be official that we have got manny he is a great talent. I think he will become one of the biggest stars in EPL and be the spark that leads us to a top four spot this season along with yakubu if the rumours are true. But if we are to keep these players and future star players we have to move foward and build a great stadium like the kirkby project which look?s awsome, to attract big sugar dady?s to invest and make everton one of the glamour clubs of europe.
