2 steps forward 1 step back?

I turn up to our Over-35s game (lost 3-2, our keeper had a 'Wright' poor game) proudly wearing the shirt to fly the flag for the top-of-the-league Blue Boys and cop plenty of banter from ex-pats and locals alike, who all, for a variety of reasons, hold various degrees of affiliation for English clubs. The Spurs excuse was that 'we had 6 out injured'(??) and other views were that the league doesn't get going 'til October when all the early sprinters fall off the pace. I for my part said that I would settle for a draw and there-in lies the problem. A potential 7 pts from 3 games, 2 of them away... surely that's a fair return? No-one can say that I am embracing mediocrity, can they?

The mind, as mine and others no doubt will, goes off on flights of fancy: maybe we'll keep on keeping on and go 9 games without a loss a la 1969-70. In fact, it swings all over the place, back to 84-85 when we lost the first 2 games and went on to win the league in a 42 game seasom with 5 games to spare... hope for Spurs yet then!!

I really thought that Tuesday's result was the way the Feb result should have gone and that Moyes has learned the lesson and turned the corner and that maybe Dutch has a point with his win some lose some. It's all very well going with 'plan A'... keep it tight and try and pinch one, but it seems that it is all too easy for Davie to fall off the joined-up football, play to win and not just 'not to lose' wagon.

Am I being too harsh? Over-reacting? Get a grip man: it's only 3 games into the season. I have, by enlarge, been a Moyes fan, never a blind can-do-no-wrong apologista mind, but mindful of his faults.

The game versus Blakburn now as an added presure to it (don't they all nowadays?)... Should Manny and Yakubu ever turn up and be fit to play, that makes five new players to fit in. There then comes the hardish task of finding and blending in the best 11, not easy. Lineker, Sharp and Heath played musical chairs for the first 8 or 10 games, that blending-in period cost us the league in lost points that proved costly at the end...

Although I could, just, manage finishing 2nd this season, due to a less than fruitful bedding in period, though not to those redshites!!

Yakubu wasn't named in Boro's 16 against Fulham yesterday, have I missed something about injury or is this significant news for Evertonians?
