Throw-ins

It is strange that pundits make no mention of how weak we are at throw-ins. Other teams get first to the ball from most of our throws and most of their own.

I've noticed that too, Dick. In fact it's been an Everton problem for as long as I can remember.

Yeah, it seems like such an easy problem to fix too. We don’t really defend them at all, and Reading yesterday made up a lot of possession by defending them.

Plus a foul throw too. How crap is that!?!

Too much time on your hands, particularly you Michael.

Has anyone noticed how the lads don’t tie their shoelaces tight enough? Every other club does.

Puerile. Read a book.

Hey Dan, you obviously miss the point that in attack and defence possession is vital. About 20/30 times in each game we literally throw it away

read the book soccer revolution by Meisl, interesting passage in their on how throw ins are often a wasted oppertunity in football, writin over 50 years ago but an interesting point all the same

This has been an Everton trait for over a decade and more as far as im concerned.
No one seems to have the foresight to simply mark up and contain the opposition or WIN possesion.

Ian Kearney, Your mention of Willi Meisle’s book, Soccer revolution was a blast from the past for me.
For nigh on 50 years of playing, coaching and watching, Meisle’s words formed the backbone of my football education.
Willi was so far ahead of his time a great many of todays coaches have yet to catch up.
