Hitch in Fernandes Deal?

Just wondering if anybody has looked at the post match interview that David Moyes gave to Everton TV?
After the general questions about the game, he gets asked how the Ferdandes medical is going and flat turns round and says he only wants to talk about the game. It definately gave me the feeling that all was not well???

I'd like to believe that's Moyes was rightly flipping off the interviewer about something that is still in the process of being resolved. It is strange, though, David Prentice writing that the deal has been wrapped up and we have already moved on to the Yak. I can only expalin that as typical lazy Liverpool Echo. The deal is not done until the player's registration has come through. I get the impression that Prentice jumped the gun.

Do you think it could be possible that Prentice is right about Fernandes, but Everton are keeping it quiet, so they can show both transfers off at a press conference next week?

Moyes said on Friday ’We’re really pleased to have him’ (see Moyes on Fernandes article on the OS). Accordingly, I’m sure it is a done deal but they’re waiting to announce it (hopefully with the Yak!) on Monday :-)

dont forget the MSI issue... could be waiting for the premier league to have a extra look and give them the thumbs up for sure in writing.
does not harm for us to be extra careful and get the PL to def def approve it.

Deals are not done and dusted at weekends. The FA is not open to lodge the paperwork, the Portuguese FA are not open to give international clearance and the medical people do not work to perform the medical. Fernandes will be announced on Monday afternoon. Yakubu deal will be discussed at the weekend but a deal wont be concluded till Tuesday latest. Then a new work permit will take another 1/2 days.

Whilst most of the attention has been on the imminent (let's hope) arrivals of Manny and the Yak, has anyone heard anything more about the possibilities of Vogel and that Ezquierro guy from Barca coming too? Last I heard we had made bids for both, and in the latter's case we were waiting to hear if Barca accepted our bid or not.....

Personally I think/hope that Moyes didnt want to talk about new players in case it could be misinterpreted as a criticism of the players who had just played in the match. Moyes is NOT a good interviewee from a media perspective, he always seems to be about two seconds shy of doing a Big Ron and ripping off a headset and storming off, so I’d guess he had the hump after the result.

Fernandes is ours by Monday. I am more concerned with the rumour linking us to yet another squad player. £5.5 Million for Mat Taylor.
If true what a complete waste of money. We could forgo the Yak, buy Gonzalez and Vogel, and pair Faddy (then Cahill) up front with Johnson... pending Vaughan’s return.
Imagine a midfield of Arteta, Gonzalez, Fernandez and Vogel... I did say imagine!

All the people who keep banging on about what a good addition this Vogel guy would be....have any of you seen him play !!??...( and I dont mean on YouTube !!).
It?s funny how the only other team that appears interested in him is a Spanish 2nd div side...call me a cynic but.....

A paranoid thought crossed my mind during today?s matches. What chance Man U hijack the Yakubu deal? They are badly in need of a striker and £11m is peanuts to them. (By the way, Everton deals never go through quickly which is probably a good thing given the wayward spending of others this summer). Long live Rob Styles!

I’m not totally convinced by Yakubu either but .....Anelka (ex-RS) and might upset team spirit.

"Osama Bin Kenwwright will come out of hiding for that one...."
You really are pathetic. How can you compare bill to a guy who masterminded the murder of 3500 people in broad daylight?
You’re sick.

Stop getting paranoid Manny is ours he just signed on too late for the Reading game as for the Big Yak managers only get involved at the start eg "I want that player" then CEO’S agents, lawyers, chairmen etc do the rest and the manager grins large at the press call when said player is signed so Moyes probably doesn’t know what stage the Yakubu deal is at yet.
And yes I would say that the pair of them will be paraded at Goodison Weds or Thurs ready for Blackburn on Saturday,so in the words of Corporal Jones Don’t panic!!

First time I’ve ever done, this but through a direct employee of the club I can tell you that Manny completed his second medical on Friday with no hitches. Yakubu was also at the club on Friday - no rumour, directly from someone who spoke to him and I can trust.

Honestly if we really have secured the signing of Fernandes for a fee that is very considerable by our standards (close to the record paid for Johnson) do you really think the club would waste the PR by just saying after the Reading game... oh by the way, we bought Fernandes today? That isn?t a Kirkby conspiracy theory, but it just seems far more obvious to parade a big new signing properly at a press conference rather than a throwaway announcement after the business on the pitch.
As for Anelka... why bother? For that sort of money, I?m looking for a player that will stick around for at least two seasons, not one who manages to unsettle himself at every single club he joins. I mean, he admitted that he?d gladly ditch Bolton about 3 months after joining them if any of the ?big four?came sniffing around. Yakuba may lack his quality and finesse, but I?d rather see him in a blue shirt than Anelka any day of the week.

I know this may be incredibly premature, and I will no doubt get hammered for postulating, but given the pace that DM beds-in new players (and signs them for that matter), I reckon that our team for the start of next season (2008-09) might look like so:
Howard
Jag Yobo Lescott Baines
Fernandes
Mikkey Pienaar
Tim
AJ Yak
Bench: Vaughan, Ezquierro, Neville, Vogel, Hibbo
This of course assumes that Manny has very quickly developed the defensive side of his game, oh, and that DM has completely shifted his idea of how Everton should play..... if DM gets our starting eleven looking like that asap this season, I can honeslty see ourselves finishing top 4 and having a real go at the Uefa Cup..... one can dream can't they....?

Lying in bed, about to get some sleep, when a scary thought ran through my head.
If Fernandes adopted Nevilles winning mentality, could we be looking at the best Premiership CDM since Roy Keane?
How Keane is our Manny? Just a thought... Sweet dreams.
