Blues Going Backwards?

Comments (7)

Most letters seem to think we are making progress this season - but are we?

The Reading performance from both manager and players was just like last season. No cohesion, long passes, ball in the air too much and no service to the strikers ? one of whom is so lazy and lacking a first touch (or a second, come to think of it) that any new signing would be better.

And last season from the same games against the same opposition we had more points (SEVEN) with more goals scored (6) and less conceded (2). This season we have SIX points, scored 5 and conceded 3. The only thing that is the same as last season is that DM still does not know how to use his subs ? remember Spurs at home last season?

What we need more than a new ground is a new Board/owners with greater business and commercial acumen and a manager with wider experience (especially in Europe). And we must not move out of the City ? that would be a disaster at some future point.

Oh gawd.... you know you're just gonna get all their backs up. You know who I mean. It starts with "Don't you realise the progress we've made since the dreadful days of Walter Smith?" Includes the obligatory references to Gascoigne and Ginola, reminds us that we once finished 4th and qualified for the Champions League... etc etc.

The comparison with the same games last season is particularly telling, however, and we have another "must-win" coming up at home to Blackburn ? otherwise, we shall slip even further behind in the comparison stakes. Oooerr!!! I'm starting to panic!!!!

Yeah, and Man United just lost to City, have only scored 1 goal, and only has 2 points after 3 games, sack Ferguson and fire the entire board there too. Chelsea has given up 4 goals in three games, they could barely beat Birmingham, sack Mourinho, he doesn’t know how to coach a proper defense!!! Everton is terrible, our team sucks, we’ll never win another game with Moyes in charge!!!! You people are just ridiculous.

Sack the board! Sack the manager!! Get rid of all the squad!!! Some sugar daddy will then buy us!!!! An as-yet-un-named super manager will get us top spot!!!!! All the most expensive players in the world will flock to us for free!!!!!! Why is this jacket so tight??????? Why can’t I move my arms???????? NURSE!!!!!!!!!!

Mr Park.....why all the negativity....if you cant see that this is a better team than you will never be convinced of anything. Your analysis against last season is childish. I suppose you also consider Man Utd to be a dead duck on the basis of 2 points from 9.

We dont want a crooked Tai Ex PM or some Americans who describe us a Francise.....and what did Alan Sugar ever do for Spurs.....so keep your half arsed ideas to yourself and stop being so negative.

Oh for Christ’s sake, I cannot fathom the level of negativity of some people on here. Everyone is entitled to their say, but how do some of you raise the necessary verve to get out of bed every morning. Its 3 games in, We’re 4th, Utd are suffering relegation form and Man City are top of the league??? Give it at least 10 games before we dust down the pitchforks.

Keith and Michael
What a perculiar post and a frankly diabolical thing to insinuate, about Everton going backwards. I sense from the numerous posts Michael has aired that he is not a great advocate of the Moyes regime. And as with all of us he is entitled to his opinion. However, I cannot take the opinions of so called fans when they base their posts on their pre-determined opinions of someone they do not particularly like. Any knowledgeable footballing fan will tell you how good this Everton side is. I firmly belive that we are on the cusp of something great, as the team spirit that has been shown this and last season is the stuff that other teams can only dream about. Great championship sides are built on great team spirit, and no fan can deny that Moyes has selected, and nurtured a team spirit unrivalled in the league.
We have a fantastic foundation to build a competitive team on, and considering the resources he has worked with I feel that there is no other manager in the league who could have brought us together in the way he has. Moyes has made mistakes, but the important thing for me is that he has not made many, and I truly belive that with the support of the true fans behind him, and support from the board we will be a force to be reckoned with within the next 2 years.
