Fernandes and the echo

Comments (45)

Does Kenwright pay his players to chat rubbish in the Echo so that it can focus the attention on other things, instead of talking about the Fernandes signing which the echo reported more than a week ago? He should be signed within 24 hours? And again, the other day, that the deal was completed? This sort of stuff doesn't fool me and it's really beginning to piss me off, I don't really give one what Stubbs has to say. I just want new faces! 11 days left as well!

The official Everton FC website is a joke. I remember when we had signed Baines it was announced on BBC and SKY before the official site.

I can assure you Fernandes is in the bag but because Everton have only signed the ’Benfica half’,the contract is having to go through the same process as Trevez to Man Unt.The premier League are determined not to get stung again.

Alex Ferguson has made launched eleventh hour bid to secure the services of Fernandes and Yakubu. Its on www.tribalbullshit.com

Of course I am joking! Lets just trust the manager to do his work lads! Things may not be as straight forward as we think, look at Boro - they are trying to sign that Alves from Heerenveen to replace the Yak, This Fernandes thing is tied up between 3 parties, so its easy in my eyes to see why things aren’t flying at the mo. Utd took the best part of 6 weeks to land Tevez!

I understand the complexities that may be involved with landing Fernandes, Why can’t Everton just be abit more open with the situation. The back end of last week, we were told the Manny would not be registered in time to face Reading. Will he be registered in time to face Blackburn?

Scot - Steven Pienaar
Jason Broome
16   Posted 20/08/2007 at 14:29:18

Scott Flaherty, you got my hopes up mate but that’s Steven Pienaar, NOT Fernandes!!!

However I believe that Fernandes has signed. If he hadn’t the club would of announced it (including the reasons why) to avoid an almighty backlash from the fans.

I am sure they are going to use his signing as rocket fuel for other agenda’s!

Good work my friend!

JUST HEARD MANNY IS NOT COMING. Just been on the news now and confirmed by a club source. I am well gutted. Its typical Everton though. We don’t even have 6 million, nevermind 11 million for Yak. Owen saga springs to mind. SHIT!

From various sources this quote from Moyes - pasted from goal.com

Fernandes spent last season on loan at Goodison Park and impressed in his 9 competitive appearances, scoring twice.

The 21-year-old is set to make his move from Benfica in the next few days, according to Moyes.

?He had the first part of his medical yeasterday afternoon, we are hoping that he completes the second part today and we can get the agreement done as soon as we possibly can. It might be that we can get it done for tomorrow, I am not sure,? the Scot told the Everton website.

"Manuel was with us on loan last season, so he knows all about us and we hope he will be able to hit the ground running when he arrives.

"He knows about us and what we do, he will give us a different option. We are playing with Lee Carsley and Phil Neville just now in the centre of midfield and he will give us more competition there.

"But he is a different type of player, with a bit more craft. At 21 he was a big player in the European Under-21 Championships for Portugal and we are delighted to have him."

According to Sky Sports News Boro are looking £12.5m and we’re only willing to pay 10. Sky suggest we will now switch our attention to CSKA Moscows’ Brazilian forward Vagner Love.

Who knows....

40   Posted 20/08/2007 at 17:12:00

Some people never ever tire of being anything other than abusively negative. Why bother making such a comment when no one (but the club) knows any of the details involved. After reading some of the downright depressing posts all close season, I long for the days when people watched cricket in the close season, didn’t lose sleep over players signing or pore over every rumour or breaking news item on SSN. As has been shown by our signing of Baines and (seemingly) Manny, there really is no point writing unfounded nonsense until the actual situation has become apparent. Let’s have some perspective, in about two days time Yakubu will be a memory and we’ll be sweating and debating about the merits of Brasilian international Wagner Love, if SSN are to be believed.
George
41   Posted 20/08/2007 at 17:15:34

Can?t say I?m jubliant upon hearing this news but neither am I particularly disapointed. Didn?t think he was worth the 11 million (let alone 12.5 million that apparently scuppered the deal) EVERTON were willing to fork out on him. I was just finding it hard to feel as enthuastic about Yakubu joining us as others had...now Vagner Love, thats something to be pleased about.
Allan Hobbs
42   Posted 20/08/2007 at 17:29:26

Why Vanger Love? Apart from having a silly name, he also has silly hair (though it was blue last time I saw him)

I never listen to talksport - I have an imposter.

Mark-Chester, the Yak failed his medical. X-ray resaults show his bones are about hundred years old. His the same age as Martins. Yak says his 24 but his medical records show his been around since world war 2.

Martins made his debut for Inter Milan in 1999 but his still only 22!!!

Why dont Everton bid for Boro?s target - Alfonso Alves. Top scorer in Dutch league.
