Shandy Andy

If you believe this link, then Shandy Andy is pleading with Moyesey and the fans for forgiveness for his latest errors. His reasons are because of his sick daughter, a reason I can sympethise with but I also feel that while I would truly love to see this guy come good, enough is enough.

Surely Moyes is no ogre and they have some sort of sympathy for Andy's girl and they have some sort of plan in place for him to be allowed to be with her, but then again it's not like these guys are working 12-hour days like some of us do.

The time has come now for the guy to be moved on.

First I have heard about his daughter. It sort of changes things for me. On one hand the evertonian in me says it’ll always be some excuse with him & he’s never gonna actually deliver but, on the other hand the Dad in me (who has a healthy 6 month old son) can empathise with his situation and hope that if he is given one last chance then it coincides with his daughters return to health and we actually get to see fully fit & focused AVDM doing some damage in the prem! Chances are he’s finished here though.

I didnt realise the guy was under this kind of pressure. To be honest, If this really is the case, then the guy should be given leave. How the hell can he be expected to play, when his thoughts are rightfully elsewhere. I hope for his sake and his family’s that his little girl pulls through. Everton are secondary in this situation.

Does Andy speak any english? If so, why can he not speak with David Moyes directly. I find it difficult to digest that Moyes is not already aware of Mr. Van Der Meyde’s personal predicaments. Using media as a channel to ’buy’ public sympathy will NOT do him any favours in my eyes.

To be fair, Andy has had enough chances.
If he does have family problems he should have sorted something out with Moyes and it’s not as if it’s the first time he’s missed training. If it were me, I would have phoned work and explained why I couldn’t turn up, I wouldn’t just say nothing and then turn up the next day as if nothing had happened.
No, unfortunately, his time is up.

I can’t believe that in the light of these circumstances Moyes would choose only now to lambast him in public. He’s had every opportunity to do that before when VDM’s excuses have not been as credible. I feel there is a lot more to this as I believe Moyes to be a fair man.

I have every sympathy for the man with regard to his daughter and truly think that the manager would grant him some time to sort out his personal life - but this has to be done through the appropriate channels - speak to your boss!

My main problem with Andy is that he is far too keen to speak to the media and has been so critical of the opportunities he has been given at the club. After everything that has happened I’d imagine he’d be embarressed enough to keep his head down, get himself fit and finally do what he’s been paid to do

I know nothing of his family life or problem with his daughters health but its very simple. You and I take time off from work, we call in and explain the situation - if you have a health problem with a child then this you would explain to your employer and they would have to accomodate it as part of your life and treat you accordingly. I cannot believe that Everton would just tell him its unaceptable, theres clearly more to it. The bloke takes the piss, for whatever reason and any employer whether they be a football club or a binman simply wouldnt put up with it.

He’s a very talented player but a liability sadly, I hear he’s a nice guy and well liked among the players but there comes a opint where you have to say enough is enough.

Put yourself in Shandy’s place; your kid is sick, how hard is it or correct would you be to pick up that new fangled telephone thing-gummy-ma-jig and dial your boss and say, sorry have some family illness/trouble that I need to deal with.

Sympathy where it’s due this waster has deserved none.
