Yakubu/Vagner Love

Comments (83)

Now that the Yakubu deal is now offically off (according to Sky Sports News), as we won't pay £12M for him.

Everton are supposed to be after Vagner Love, I can't realy see this happening either as we will have to organise the fee, discuss terms, have a medical and secure a work permit in 11 days. Come on, it's Everton; we can't even agree a fee and personal terms within 11 days never mind a long process like this for a Brazilian player. We will have to dream on anyway, there is no chance a Brazilian international is going to join us!!!

Let's just move on to other targets now, otherwise we are really going to struggle for goals this season.

Just heard on Sky Sports News that the Yak deal is off and now Moyes has turned his attention to Wagner Love who plays for CSKA Moscow. Ive seen bits and pieces of this fella play and he looks a quality player so Im quite happy (if it happens!)

I am not that bothered about the Yak but hope some decent signings happen soon
Shaka Islam
4   Posted 20/08/2007 at 17:34:46

The Yak failed his medical. X-ray resaults show his bones are about hundred years old. His the same age as Martins. Yak says his 24 but his medical records show his been around since world war 2.

Martins made his debut for Inter Milan in 1999 but his still only 22!!!

Sean,

Vagner-Love is quality! plain and simple!

How the fuck do you get in the brazilian National squad let alone starting 11 if your a donkey??

He?s class! I watched him in europe last season and in the Copa America and he skinned people for fun and scores enough goals!

His team Moscow win trophies with him and Jo upfront!

Yakubu has a good record and i?d be glad to have him but you can get anelka for £12m, NO CONTEST!

Sayin Vagner-Love is a donkey shows that you have no clue about footy at all!

turn it in!

Wouldn?t Alves be a better deal. The striker Boro are going for. I think Moyes should hijack the deal just to get one over Southgate and Boro. Barcelona and Mancs where linked with Alves earlier in the summer.
Allan Hobbs

Wagner Love isn?t much from what Ive seen of him; silly name, silly hair, silly boy. I think we should sign Andy Gray.
Steve Claringbold
11   Posted 20/08/2007 at 17:59:58

Isn’t Alves going to Chelsea for something like 20 mill?

Hmmm Chelsea or Middlesborough, where should I go?

Well we enjoyed our little publicity stunt while it lasted didnt we?.. Regarding the Yakubu deal..Kept us talking until the stadium issue arises in September..Kenwright/Wyness muppet wankers without the slighest clue..

Usual bullshit from this club. They probally staged this just to build our hopes up. If Johnson gets injured our only striker is Faddy. Good state of affairs. Anybody who would vote yes to Kirby and allow this bunch move the club needs their heads examined. They are a disgrace

Steve Claringbold,

Thats Daniel Alves who chelsea want mate. The right back/winger

the striker is afonso alves from herenveen.

goals record is unreal but it is the dutch league?
Steve Claringbold

So many Alves,.

The Chelsea one will be good.

The Boro one is probably shit though is he?

Boro offered me a deal last week, I told them there was no way I was joining unless they took Allan’s Nan on an apprenticeship.

Sky have withdrawn the Yakubu off story after his agent confirms Everton & Boro have reached a comprimise fee (undisclosed) but the educated guess is around £11.5 mill.
But it is silly season out there so it’s anybodys guess!!

THE bORO LOOKS GOOD! HIGHEST SCORER IN EUROPE LAST SEASON WITH 32 LEAGUE GOALS IN 34 GAMES!!

ITS S SHAME YOU DIDNT INSIST THEY TOOK TONY MARSH ON A FREE.

I was getting excited about Vagner then!!!

I’ll take yakubu though!

11.5 is still alot, i’d rather have le sulk!

anyone agree?

I’d take Anelka, but then you have to take all of his baggage as well.

Would he fit into our team ethos?

I was watching "the final word" after the liverpool game and Jamie redknapp was going on about how much of a nice guy he is and liverpool loved having him around the place.

Garry speed also thinks the same so ..........

Since when had the club or anybody from the club ever officially stated that we were ever interested in Yakubu and that a deal was imminent. Sorry Tom Lynch, but when you build up your own expectations always be prepared for them to less than graceful knocked down.

Also, haha! (at Shaka Islam’s first post). I’m actually suprised the X-ray didn’t show up the lead cannonball lodged in his pelvis(which explains why he can’t jump) which he picked up from the Crimea.

There is no news online about the deal being off that I can find.
Having had the move talked about on match of the day, all over the net and in the papers, surely the board know how pathetic they will look by cheaping out at the last minute! If the Yak doesn’t want to come, thats one thing, but for us to cop out over the price is going to lose the board a lot (more)respect, popularity and sway. Can they really afford that!? here’s hoping that they are not really THAT crap!
George

Hey Allan, if your Nan’s off to Chelsea when she falls over in the box with no-one around her do you think Rob Styles will give her a penalty?

Not that I was bothered like, I loved seeing Rafa’s face when he gave it.
Allan
32   Posted 20/08/2007 at 18:44:28

Well its fair to say that she’s always ’havin a fall’ if you catch my drift, so she’s experienced at spending time on the floor so Mr Styles will no doubt be giving them many a penalty sometime soon.

As for Benitez’ face; I hate seeing it generally, but seeing him seeth at the weekend was very funny, especially when Saint Jose of West London came on and said his team were honest as the day is long.....honest guv!

Quality telly.

Yakubu, I’ll love to believe you but Lord Alfred Tennyson(C’mon he’s a Lord would he lie!) has pinpointed your exact location on October 25th 1854 to Balaklava, Russia. He’s even enshrined it in song and verse;
"Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley’d and thunder’d
Forward, the Light Brigade!"
there was no man dismay’d?
for no soldier knew
how decipher Yakubu’s real age:

Thanks for the head’s up, Steve. I had originally thought the Yakubu deal was a stroy which had gathered steam through the local & national press.

Gents,
How many times have you heard of a deal being 100% "off" only for it to become "on" again very quickly? Think of Dyer to West Ham.
I’m not personally desperate for Yakubu to sign for us but I would be amazed if he was still at Boro by the 31st August.
He’ll end up here or maybe Portsmouth/West Ham if he prefers a move down south.

what is it with Nigerian players and ages. I have heard all kinds of rumours about Martins’ real age hearing aat first he was 28 haha, then 22. Now Yakubu who i thought was about 29 is 24!!!1 What is the world coming too when you dont know a players age.

I think Wyness is holding him to ransom until the great vote count day. Then he can wheel him out when the yes votes have been counted and verified and everyone will be happy and there’ll be fluffy bunnies and rainbows and cute cats and stuff.

Steve, I think if the stadium votes fall through, i got a feeling that Wyness and Bk will spit the dummies out. All the deals will be called off. Arteta will be sold next year.

By the way there’s alot of big clubs looking at Mr Loverman including Bayern Munich. What chance have we got of signing him? Speacially with our incompetant board

Chaps this is typical EFC !!!!
IMHO I feel there are better value players than yakubu , 12m is a lot of dough, however he represents a package that cannot be compared anywhere else at the moment (ie prem goals etc) . His temperment leaves a lot to be desired and he doesnt seem to have any loyalty !! Fernandes is sorted trust me !! i will never show my face again if this doesnt come off !!

RE: toffee. mate im not messin but av u actually seen this fella play. hes a flash in the pan with the odd bit of skill and has an average goal record for his country. btw who else besides adriano is an out and out striker for brazil that he can compete with? even some1 as bad as peter crouch shows flashes of quality that he really doesnt hav. wagner love controls the ball with his shin an wud not hack the pace of the premiership.fact. but tbh we wudnt even sign him. if we did it wud be no more than an act of desperation.

Never liked the idea of Moyes signing Yakubu so I’m not disappointed if the deal falls through.

If we have £12 million to spend then I’m sure a better player can be found. I’d be happy if Moyes drafted in a cheap/loan emergency striker and waited until Xmas before spending big.

12.5 Million for Yakubu is too much. 11 Million would have been acceptable I suppose, but Wagner Love is absolute quality. I watched him in every game for Brazil in the Copa America, which they won against the full squad of Argentina, and given the number of games he has played for Brazil there should be no problem securing a work permit. Trust me, if we got this guy you would all be happy, his work rate is top notch and has there ever been a player to play regularly for Brazil who doesn’t have skill on the ball. Isn’t that what we have all been crying out for, quality on the ball. I thought this was just a stupid rumour at first, but it appears that there is something in it, I hope it comes off.
