The Mail Bag

Just three days left...

Just three days left for the club to keep stringing us along with the golden promise of more signings and a shiny new stadium in Kirkby in the hope that we'll vote 'Yes'.

Maybe after Thursday all talk of Fernandes, Yakubu and Vogel will be quietly forgotten with the excuse of "wage demands" or "moon in Taurus" given as the reasons for no incoming signings as we head into September. Then we'll carry on our merry way with a board that has given us a net negative investment in signings this year and a manager who when his back is up against the wall can't show the tactical nous to think himself out of a paper bag.

Still, I suppose we'll have Davey giving his optimistic 40 pt talk throughout the season telling us how Alan Stubbs is a model professional and how Tim Cahill and James Vaughan are like new signings. Then we'll have the usual positive spin coming from the Echo, Doddy and Dutch that can only surely be fuelled by class A drugs. It's so surreal, it's like an episode from The Prisoner.

Mark your not allowed to say things like that about Moyes. The Moyes brigade will go crazy if you critisize Darling Dave so I will.On Saturday all the old Moyes failings came back to haunt us.Poor use of the subs and lacking any ideas when his team goes a goal down. The worst of it was returning to hoofball after we did so well at Spurs playing proper footy.Nah we aint going no where with DM as manager. He has given us everything he knows and its not good enough.

Mark and Tony, you really do need anti-depressants.

Reading played well saturday, give the other team some credit! Stop using it as an excuse to attack Moyes and his tactics.

Reading were organised, bright and determined on Saturday, but that said, we still did not really deserve to lose.

This is the same Reading who had managed a point at Old Trafford the week before, and gone down narrowly to Chelsea on Wednesday.

Moyes did change the game with his substitutions, which meant Reading were on the back foot for most of the second half.

So give the predictable whining a rest eh....there are 2 teams on a football pitch and you are not always going to get your own way!

Tony, Mark

Who would you like to see coming in, to replace Moyes?

Just wondering if there’s really anyone proven/more succesful than Moyes who might be interested to coming to Everton given financial constraints.

Cheers

I thought we played well against Reading.

Moyes did the best he could against a well organised team who defended all the way around the park.

So we didn?t get a result at Reading away from home, next game Blackburn though.

I, Phony Marsh, predict we?ll stuff Blackburn. Unless they get overly-physical (my favourite quote of the week courtesy of Arsene Wenger).

I tell you what some Evertonians are going down the pan in my estimation. How any of you can come on here and defend that dross is pathetic. How can you be happy to watch the best Everton side for 20 years play like a sunday league outfit. In fact Sunday league sides dont whack the ball 60 yards every time they get possesion.Honestly Alan Ball would turn in his grave if knew what Evertonians are accepping as football these days.Saturday was a disaster just be big enough to admit Moyes cocked up again and his limitations exposed once more.I would think more of you if you did.

Tony,

Its a good job I dont give a shit what you think of me innit! and i’d imagine most dont, on here!

We have taken 6 points out 9 and there’s some class players to come in and Tim and Vaughan to come back.

While I am not defending the long ball tactics! Judge moyes when all his tools are available and if he still persists with the long ball, i’ll back you!

We done enough to get a draw atleast against reading! they aint no mugs!

And spare me the Alan Ball bollocks! The man is a god and always will be but he was unique, a one off!

Moyes told me his thinking behind Reading.

These are his words exactly:

" Well, we’d been doing so well and we had six points in the bag and after the Spurs game even Tony Marsh was happy, so we thought something is wrong here if Tony’s happy. We thought, going into the Reading game, we are just gonna have to take it on the chin and lose this one to give Tony something to moan about, because even when he’s happy, he’s not, if you see what I mean. So that’s what we did, we took one for the team for Tony’s sake and the status quo has returned."

If David Moyes keeps faith with players like Neville and Carsley playing in midfield we’re going nowhere. Tony Hibbert is a championship player and Alan Stubbs shouldnt’ be a first team player, even with Yobo’s injury. He’s a good header of the ball, but lacks footballing qualities even a defender should have. Same for Hibbert. It’s not even decent passing Everton play. Still no decent build-up play. Yeah, keep a player like Pienaar on the bench. This man Moyes is a danger to football, seriously. I watched ten minutes of the game last saturday against Reading and I had seen enough. Just complete lack of ideas. Makes me wonder, what does this manager do at the training ground? He should be taking the club forward (on the pitch).

Wolfey perhaps after the Spurs victory I foolishly though Moyes and his game plan had gone up another level only for the nightmare perfomances to start straight awa in the very next game .Maybe its one kick in the balls to many. Its hard to keep getting up from kicks in the bollocks

Who are you going to "support" when we move to Kirkby, Tony (you did say you wouldn’t go didn’t you)? Your arguments are so black and white perhaps it should be the barcodes. I pity the poor team. Your bile filled, hate inspired criticism is not taken seriously here.

Oh sorry Vin why dont we all just lie and pretend we were wonderfull at Reading. That way we wont have to critisize Moyes.Thats not on is it?Moyes is >untouchable I forgot. Why didnt you throw in the classical we finished 4th comment.Thats always a goodun as a come back.

I know everyones entitled to their opinion, but I cant believe there are people out there who are happy with the football we played on Saturday?!? The Spurs match showed that when we play FOOTBALL we can win in a stylish entertaining way. Then Reading comes along and its back to the all too regular scene of lumping the ball up the pitch. Its 2 steps forward and 2 back.

I sorry Tony but you are to negative. You dissapear when we win and then when we lose you come back to critise Moyes.

I didnt think the substitutions where that bad. Pienaar would have been my first choice sub and he came on in the 56th minute whereas Mcfadden came on in the 65th and nearly changed the game. I agree with you that Moyes’s subs are usually bad but on this occasion no chance.

Im not sure you have ever played football but I have and I have also taught it aswell. It is not as easy as you think to play free flowing, pass and move football unless you have the right players. Certain types of players are good at retaining possesion and in our case it would be Fernandes and Arteta. The likes of Carsley and Neville are useful players but they are not capable of keeping the ball and spreading the play. We do not have a ball playing centre half and we also so not have a striker who can hold the ball up e.g. Ferguson, Viduka, Berbatov and Drogba. So there are many reasons why are football is not brilliant but when you look outside the top 5 no other team really plays good football. Do Newcastle, West ham, Villa, Bolton, Blackburn and Reading? No they do not.

I am far from a Moyes’s fan yet at this moment in time he is our manager and that is that. If he makes mistakes of course I am going to critisise but if he does something good I am also going to praise him.

Listening to your posts you seem to want success over night and that tells me you are living in the past. Success does not come over night escpecially in the premiership where all the money goes to Liverpool, Man utd, Arsenal and Chelsea. It is not like the 80s where a team could just come out of nowhere and win the league like we did for example.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion but your posts are eactly the same over and over again. You seem to want to live up to this reputation as a Moyes hater. As I have said I am not a lover (Dutch) and I am not a hater like you (Tony Marsh). I am open minded when something needs criticising I will critisise and when something need Praising I will praise.

Tony,

How many times do I have to say it?

There are 2 teams in a match you moron!!!
Stop over analysing everything, like you are some sort of sage and pundit of the game!
when It is quite clear from your comments that you are just a bitter anti-Moyes meff!

Hey Mark spot on with your conspiracy theory. The only problem is that it’s still only Monday & the Yakubu deal has already been declared dead in the water. So much for the club stringing us along until after Thursday.

But people have already voted thinking that Yakubu was on his way Brendan.
