Kirkby: Yes or No
Comments (4)
I have been supporting Everton for 35 years since my uncle first took me to a match when I was 7. I still remember the smells and sights of that day sitting / standing on a wooden seat in the Bullens Road Stand trying at times to see around a pillar!
Goodison Park is fantastic, old, full of memories for many many Evertonians ? myself included ? but I feel that we have to decide on this vote with our heads not our hearts. It seems to me that the finance for the move to Kirkby is more sensible and practical than any of the other options being proposed at present and I believe it would a big mistake to not vote YES and tell the Board that we are not interested in the move. I say this in the hope that whatever the outcome of this vote the Board will appreciate the depth of feeling within the fans and will at least give the other options a fair appraisal.
I fear that if we vote NO and then the other sites are shown to be non-starters we will be subjecting our ever-improving team to ever-worsening facilities, which will be worse than a move to Kirkby.

Similar circumstances to yours took me to GP in 1963 and your comments about the sights, sounds and smells still remain after all these years.
I was not able to vote and in some ways I am glad as I honestly would not have known which would have been the right option to take.
A few weeks back I would have probably voted for Kirkby. Then by chance, I was in the city doing work for the Council, and discovered once again the depth of feeling from Evertonians about the need to stay in the city.
I suppose I should state the obvious as far as I see it, and that is much as I would love to see us stay within the boundaries, there is no viable option other than the Kirkby proposals given the absolute need to have a new stadium within the next few years. My opinion is based mostly on the time that I feel we have in which to re-invent ourselves given that the monster that will be the RS arena will be rising into the sky in the very near future.

Sorry Paul but I have voted no to moving without knowing ALL the facts,no to all the figures that don’t add up,NO to a ground that is not up to the standard we deserve If this move is so good why has Kenwright been so quiet and as Tesco Terry has a vested interest and Tom Cannon is desperate to get a seat on the board so there goes his credibility so a yes vote to me is voting blind but I respect the right of every one to choose the way they vote even if it differs to mine

I haven’t lived in Liverpool in more than 30 years. I may have lived near you (Roy Coyne) I lived in Clayford Crescent, at the intersection of Queens Drive and Prescott Road (?), Old Swan, near Knotty Ash station.
A hundred years ago for census information etc. Liverpool was divided into three regions Toxteth Park, Everton and West Derby. From a purely emotional level I want Everton to stay in Liverpool. Not only that I want them to be in Everton were my ancestors lived.
