This Fernandes deal

Surely, if Everton have signed this player, it would have been announced, wouldn't it? Surely Moyes needs the fella in training to get him integrated into the team as soon as possible?

I'm not advocating any conspiracy theories, I just don't believe we're willing to meet his personal terms. I don't care if the fella was spotted in Nandos over the weekend claiming he's signed. If he'd signed, Everton would have announced it.

I am petrified at watching a season of Neville and Carsley in centre midfield and I honestly don't think we'll sign anyone else before then end of August.

I’ll believe it when i see it. Last i heard Moyes had said. ’’He is having a medical and they hope they can agree a deal’’ that was on Sky Sports on Friday or Sat.

I personally think we have signed Fernandes and Moyes and the club are waiting to announce it. I wouldn’t worry too much, it will probably be announced later this week. HOWEVER... IF he is not in the squad for Blackburn then there WILL BE QUESTIONS!

I am more worried about a striker,we need one desperately, Johnson is good and nothing more, McFadden is not suited for this league, maybe as a sub. Vaughan is injured, Anichebe is extremely average and there is nobody else!
Allan

Is it possible to be extremely average?

I agree, all our strikers are uncommonly average.

i agree a striker is a must at everton dosnt everybody agree if we have 11mill to spend on a striker wouldnt defoe be the man to help us finish in top 6 again, just a thought

Defoe is too similar to AJ though, same stature at least - we need a big fella who can frighten the shit out of defenders. Yakubu is a big bastard, quick and scores lots of goals - I dont see why people dont want him.

We have Arteta, one of the best crossers of the ball around, yet we dont have astriker who can get on the end of anything.....cue the Yak.

To be honest I really doubt that Defoe would come to us anyway..You can see if he leaves Spurs it will be only for another London club like West Ham or maybe Fulham someone like that..There was alot of talk about him going to Liverpool or Man Utd but I dont think he has done enough to get a move to one of them now..His career is floundering at Spurs though..Another place I wouldnt be shocked to see him end up is Newcastle as for some reason players always seem to see that place as some footballing Mecca ( or has it got something to do with the mega bucks? hmmm ).. Yes one of the London clubs or the Geordies for Defoe eventually I reckon, maybe in January or next summer...Everton need to get Yakubu..NOW

I assure you all, Fernandes will sign. How do I know? Look at the evidence. Did anyone see the initial story with him coming to Manchester Airport? The boy was packed to stay. There have been no reports of him going home. Benifica did not name him in any of their recent squads.

So what is happening? There is a Tevez type hold-up. Have you all got short memories? He will sign, its just a question of ironing out a deal with the 3rd party. Either we are negotiating a complete buyout or a Tevez style "loan" with a right to buy in a year or two. This is the most complicated type of deal so expect delays before it is announced and remember the Premier League need to ratify it and check it to ensure that another "Tevez" does not happen again. Just remember how long lawyers tkae to do things whenever they get invovled.

That’s what’s happening folks. This one in the hands of lawyers and it will only be complicated just before the deadline.

The thing I would like to know is where is Manny now and has he trained with the team.

yup for the yak. today i read that the deal has fallen through. i hope this is merely the prelude to him being signed! i agree with alan, carsley and neville becoming our default midfield is scary.. and will be more so in europe. however it still feels like we are just a few pieces short of a full hand, so i remain hopeful that loyes will do the biz.. howard, baines, yobo, lescott, jag, arteta, cahill, fernades, neville, yakubu, aj. bench: valente, stubbs, vaughn, vic. see what i mean?

The manny deal is done, we are awaiting some tricky legal paperwork to be sorted. Would you rahter we rush it and haev another West ham/Tevez saga?

Just to clarify that he is training at Bellfield but not with the first team squad at the moment.
By that i do not think he will play against blackburn because moyes obviously isnt confident that he will have him available for selection, otherwise he would be with the first team.

Well then if Moyes is not confident that Fernandes is available for Saturday and he is not yet training with the first team then I am guessing that the deal is NOT done..I admire everyones optomism but we have to face facts if the deal was done then we would have heard about it..An 8 million pound signing and its not been on T.V, teletext or the Official Website..Its not done yet..It may be close. I only hope it is,but its obviously not done.

Well to be honest if that is true then they should reduce ticket prices for Saturday..I know they never will but they damn well should do..Once again they have all strung us along, we may aswell just have rope around our necks...Moyes comes out and says ’our situation has changed we have money to spend and Im going to spend it’..Its all a publicity stunt to get more fans to vote yes for the stadium move..I dont blame Moyes, I blame the fucking horrible bastards that run our club..Three days ago it looked all for certain ( at least to the fans ) that Yakubu and Fernandes would be signing for us and now we have been shafted again..You cant even trust the Echo for accurate football stories anymore..In last nights match report it said Fernandes was already our player after signing over the weekend..Just fuck off Everton..Stick your stadium and fuck off..May aswell just let Goodison fall down around us then we will be sitting in a pile of shite then aswell as listening to one from the board.

that is a piss take if it has fallen through. so fucking predictable that just it falls through just as its too late to register a "NO VOTE".

FFS, who wants to bet we dont end up signing anyone. a whole season of neville and carsley in the middle...i may as well end myself now.

This is a wind up. You lot are joking!!
Ray

Shaka.. I hoped everyone was winding us up but it doesnt look like that now..Im yet to see the news for myself but to be honest if the source is talk sport then Im feeling resigned that it is true..I cant express my dissapointment enough at this though..For once it really looked like an ambitious Everton ready to move onwards and upwards..I should have known better

Liverpool Echo have reported That Manny has signed. Everton are waiting for clearance from the F.A and the premier league before they can announce the deal. It’s gone to far for it to break down now.

can anyone confirm this is ian ross’s email :

ian.ross@evertonfc.com

this is important, cause if it is a legit address then we know this rumor of him not signing is bullshit.

if it is his address then email it yourself and you should get a response pretty quickly.

I have just recieved an email from Ian Ross or someone from the office at Everton it said.. ’Having been let down by a supporter who passed all emails to him yesterday I am no longer able to discuss transfers..dont blame me ect:’ What on gods earth does that mean?.
James
24   Posted 21/08/2007 at 10:21:05

well i got a response from him saying it wasnt true so im now satisfied in knowing that this rumor is bullshit !

hopefuly if enough people pester him with same question we might get an official announcement to the press about the transfer.

God what a difference a week makes. 7 days ago we were all extolling the virtues of our performance against Spurs and were top of the League.

Now after one lacklustre performance against Reading its all back to the usual doom and gloom.

You gotta love being an Everton fan!!

Sorry did I miss something here?

Moyes announced on Sky Sports that he is just waiting for Fernandes to be given international clearance by the Home Office and the FA.

It mentions it on the Everton Official Site too.
I think there is just too much scaremongering now that it looks unlikely we will get Yakubu.

If it helps... a mate of mine was at belfield yesterday and has photos of all the players going in. Manny is one of them in a nice new motor. I can post if someone has a suitable place to put it. Mind you, here yesterday is not the same as here today but there you go.
