How do we get our point across?
Comments (17)
We know the club has got the media on its side. As we have seen in the press, it has not been a level playing field for the anti-kirkby move. And now, to break the camel's back, the club are not allowing any third party [KEIOC] to witness the counting of the ballot. So how do we get our point across? Enough is enough. I believe in a democratic open debate, which this has not been from the start. I've got all of the press headline copies to prove it. I think its time we voiced our concerns on Saturday, because we are not going to heard any other way.

Its been an absolute joke the way the media has covered this whole proposed kirkby move. The liverpool echo runs a wyness or Leahy comment front page news, the Kirkby drawings were splashed across the front page. For the camp trying to put a balanced objection across, you will find a report several pages in to the paper next to some obscure headline. When the loop was proposed and the drawings to accompany it, although on the front page it was limited to a quarter of the usual front page size. The club have the local media eating out of their hands. I work for a company who heavily advertise on TV, Radio, press and believe me, none of these companies will risk losing the potential investments made by EFC.
I would suggest going round Goodison with a bucket to gain some capital to fight the directors at everton at their own game, a full page ad in the echo will cost up to £2,000 but it will get a message across.

I shouted really loudly at Joleon Lescott to watch out for the nasty man from Reading about to throw the ball to long haired irish fella also from Reading who was ready to plonk the ball in our onion bag at 3.44pm on Saturday but he completely ignored me and simply let it happen.
How can I get my point across?

We are the only club in the country who would have given supporters a chance to vote. You can’t get any fairer than havin a democratic vote that states categorically if the majority say no we don’t go to Kirkby.

do you think it right then Jon if 40% - substantial figure you’ll agree - are fundamentally against the move, we should still go ?

Simon, as a qualified fire marshall I already have my very own loud-haler, though admittedly I dont own it; in fact my company owns it but Im sure I could borrow it for the weekend.
In other news, Benfica have sacked their manager.
He was last seen having dinner with Manuel Fernandes in Nandos with a random scouse fella.

"believe in a democratic open debate,"
Mate we are lucky to have a fucking vote, no other club in the world has given their fans the chance to vote on a move.
This site has been anti-kirby, so has KEIOC and the local media has printed all the press releases against the move and pictures of the alternative (which are a joke, who would want to have a stadium int he middle of a fucking roundbaout with noise and traffic pollution, plus we cant extend it beyond its capacity and has no commercial opportunities.).

Why in God’s name should the ’battle’ be fought on a level playing field, Colin? Lest we forget that the Club are the ones who are paying for the damn vote and will ultimately be the ones paying for the stadium. I would suggest the media has been overly sympathetic to the ’no’ voters myself. KEIOC has had a lot of wordage and airtime for a small group of fans - and let’s face it that’s what they are.
Why do the ’no’ voters view everything as unfair? It’s so pathetic. Just get your ballot paper, tick a box and then wait until Friday. Stop whinging about anything and everything that may prevent the vote from going your way.

Gavin, You,ve been brainwashed, by the club and the media. All i,m saying their two sides concerning the move, but we are only getting a one sided view. I wish we could get Bill Kenwright and Warren Bradley in an open forum, but i dont think Bill would want that.

ERS are running it. So are KEIOC saying they arent a fair and proper body?
Everton wont be present either.
One suspects this is as a result of previous KEIOC dirty tricks and the fear they’ll misrepresent the facts of what ever happens.
ERS are totally independent, its better neither efc or keioc are there surely?

No way would I want 2 reps from the KEIOC checking my ballot paper to see how I voted!
Damn cheek, its being conducted by a reputable 3rd party (ERS) that should be enough for anybody.
Except the KEIOC of course!

"Gavin, You,ve been brainwashed, by the club and the media"
What brainwashed into thinking we are the only club to hold a vote on the issue? Its fact. Same about the websites too. You are wrong, face facts!

’Mate we are lucky to have a fucking vote, no other club in the world has given their fans the chance to vote on a move’
Thats not strictly true Gavin, clubs like Real Madrid & Barcelona hold votes on everythinmg from issues surrounding their grounds, to who runs the club & sits on the board - your comment only really extends to UK based clubs. I agree with you though, we’re lucky to even get a vote so moaning about it is pretty rich.

I know we are getting a vote. And you vote on the facts that are put in front of you. And what we keep reading in the press is propaganda.Bestway have announced today[Tues/21] that the loop is feasable to put an 50,000 seater stadium on that land. LETS SEE IF IT MAKES FRONT PAGE NEWS HEADLINES IN THE LIVERPOOL ECHO> Just as Kirkby welcomes Everton, Terry Tesco input. AGAIN i will say. Lets have a transparent debate, NOT JUST HEARING FROM ONE FUCKING SIDE.

Any demonstration or show of opposition for Kirkby at Goodison on a matchday will only result in affecting the teams performance. Dont do it. Instead, focus your energy on supporting the 11 players on the pitch and drive them on to ensure we get three points against Blackburn. That will be much more productive.
Further, a cross section of fans have been given a voice - the ballot paper. There is a democratic process taking place and I wish everybody would simply acknowledge that and respect the result, whichever way it goes - and it’s sure to be a close one at that.
Further, I do not think that there should be any third party presence when the votes are counted. The count should be left in the hands of the Electoral Reform Society and nobody else, not even EFC officials, should be present.

I,ll call it demercratic, when both sides have the same amount of media coverage. Which has not happened.
