Bellefield

Comments (15)

I read that Bellefield is being redevoloped to accomodate 74 detached houses. Its a 8.9 acre site. One question:

WHY DID NO-ONE CONSIDER BUILDING A STADIUM HERE?

Am I missing something obvious? I know we don't have the money, blah blah, but Why was it not even considered or discussed. Surely its an option? The site is close to the 62 and not far from the 57, only a couple of miles out of town. I know its not central. but surely it must have been an option. Did I miss something here? Or is the reason because we need to sell it to finance the new stadium, and if so would the new stadium fall through if we did not get planning permission. Why would LCC give us permission when we leave them for knowsley?

Any ideas lads?

I think you'll find that even the germ of a thought of an idea of building a stadium in Bellefield is a total and absolute non-starter. Have youe seen the houses around the place? Talk about toffeenosed upper-middle class oiks! There is no way in hell anyone would think for one nano-second that a football stadium could be built there. Think of the riff-raff and unsavoury characters loitering with intenet! My goodness... unthinkable!

And then there is the land value. How much do you think the land is worth for 74 fancy upper-middle-class homes in a nicer part of Liverpool? Go Figure.

Er... Less of the bigotry please Michael.

Some upper middle class oiks support Everton and I sincerely hope all supporters are

Or not to mention we’d need at least 150m to build it even if we could get planning permission.

But thats just nit picking isnt it.

My point was merely, why did no one mention this site, if only to dismiss it?

Steve,

Are you being serious ?

A stadium in the middle of a housing estate ?

Does that question really need an answer ?

i was not saying we should build a stadium there. I merely asked why the site was never mooted. Furthermore, is there not another famous ground surrounded by housing?

Haha good point Steve there is a famous ground surrounded by housing ... however those who are now critising your idea for that very reason were backing the KEIOC redevelop Goodison campaign only a couple of weeks ago.

Seriously though, no way could you build a football stadium in Sandfield Park - there’s already a tesco just down the road in Old Swan :-)

Have you ever been to Bellefield? You’d know why it wasn’t considered if you have. Nevermind the landlocking, houses etc. The transport links are terrible. No trains, narrow roads, limited public transport.

Although the Bill Shankly fields are over the road from it...now that would be a mighty fine place to stick a Tesco’s ;)

Dont get me wrong it would be fabulous... Bellefield is ’home’ jst as much as Goodison to me.. if not more actually on a personal note. But yeah, its a struggle to even turn one car into the driveway enterance of bellefield never mind 50,000 lol

You cant just look at a site and say ’oh this looks big, lets build a stadium’. Its not Lego Land you know?.

Do you have to be working class to support Everton?

Bellefield is totally surrounded by houses, the only way in is by a narrow alleyway. The site is also not that big. Coaches cannot get into the alleyway and have to stay in a residential street nearby.

Just been reading the Pamphlet sent out by the Club with the voting form and have noticed under ’Benefits for Evertonians’ list it says that moving to Kirkby ’COULD’ increase revenue.

Should it not say ’WILL’? Seems they don’t really know what will actually happen. I am amazed that proper Market Research has not been carried out. You would have thought it a no-brainer on something as massive as this. Worrying isn’t it?
