I'm Mandy, fly me!

Rewind back to the spring of 1963 and you will find me and a load of like-minded mates outside the paper shop all clustered round the one copy of the News of The World ... On the back page it was all Everton's defeat of Fulham to clinch the League; the front pages contained the, for then, scandals of the Profumo Affair. Being typical grubby-minded schoolboys, this was good stuff, but first, like all true sports fans, we read the paper from the back to the front.

Along with all the other suspects was a certain Miss Mandy Rice-Davies, euphemistically labeled a 'hostess' ? note well those first two letters 'ho' ? it tells you all you need to know.

A big-wig Judge, when asked to comment on his liason with the young Lady, denied all knowledge of it, "it never happened," etc. etc. To which our Lady of negotiable virtue said... "Well, he would say that wouldn't he!"

For 'HO'stess read financial expert... A professor of negotionable opinion??? As for his article... Well, he would say that wouldn't he!

A memory-jerker just for our older readers, eh, Derek? Next it'll be the Great Train Robbery...

Yet another respected member of our community sees his reputation attacked. This time it is a University professor, previously we have seen everyone from town planners, experts in transport and logistics and the head of a huge retail organisation all accused of malpractice.
BK and Buster have been called liars, our players integrity dragged through the mud and fellow Evertonains called taitors. The electoral commission is even accused of bias, Filth language is the norm and myself as with most others am sick to death of the whole affair.
I wish the damn process was over and done with and regardless the result all true blues should accept it.

Dick, and you think the club has behaved impeccably and properly on this matter? What about including a one-sided glossy brochure in the voting package? What about soliciting various player’s support? What about inundating the local press with constant articles and pro-kirkby imagery before and during the voting period (surely the right option will sell itself)? What about incessant spinning of figures, with even now no definitive cost to the club (after 18 months)? What about arranging for experts to rubbish the alternatives when they should, as custodians by definition be looking at all the alternatives and seeking the BEST option (This should be their ONLY objective)? They have engineered a situation whereby other ideas regardless of their merit cannot even be considered. Keith Wyness has boxed himself into a corner that he can only get out of with a resounding yes vote, since I would expect the one option to easily win a one-horse race wouldn’t you? Therefore, any remote possibility of anything appealing to the voters has been given the full treatment, this cannot be a fair process, and therefore cannot be in the club’s best interest. Thankfully, on this occasion their pitifull assessment of the Loop was shot down in an instant by Bestway’s experts (who have unrivalled experience in this field), and quite frankly by anyone with an ounce of local knowledge and commonsense.

If the club have established this to be the only option..... which defies logic in itself, why not give all the details? Why even have a vote? None of it makes sense, yet some people are prepared to accept it all as gospel. How can anyone make valid comparisons if they don’t know the costs to the club? How can they judge the suitability of the site without a full transport report? Why is there a deadline at all, what difference would a few more months make? Personally, even I, as an Evertonian/season-ticket holder/shareholder with a keen interest in stadia am sickened by this whole process, and will be glad to see it resolved. Unfortunately, I feel the outcome may see this club change forever..... there may be some irreversible damage already!

Au contraire Big M, just a little back ground on the origins of, considering the scource and circumstances, a witty riposte, that seems applicable to the Herr Professor, given his tendancy to pop up as a rent a gob on football finances.
