Little too late?? McFadden's the key

For the first time as an Everton supporter, I felt we were heading in the right direction: Jags on board, Pienaar and Baines, good workmanlike players with a touch of class, but neither three are in a position to play straight away. Jags has had a few minutes, Baines is injured, and Pienaar is scrapping for a starting berth
Why on earth hasen't Moyes and the Board invested in two good strikers, a bug-bear for Everton since the eighties? Pretty football without the goals to push on; I would have gambled £8M on Nugent (he will come good, trust me), taken one of two or three from Arsenal on loan (they have an abundance)... but no: let's leave it 'til two weeks before deadline and link us with any Tom Dick and Harry upset at their clubs.
Vagner Love's the latest, im bewilderd and bored of the links. Play McFadden more reguarly please, it may be the answer.

8million on Johnson, 6million on Beattie in two years plus 10/11million bid for Yakubu, Nugent dropped after first two games for avaerage portsmouth side!! Now Mcfadden (been here 3 years, done fuck all) is the answer!!!! stop talking shite.

I wonder what happened to scouting in football. I remember the signings we made before we became great during the eighties. Haven’t you heard the commentator on the official history video: "Trevor Steven came from Burnley, Peter Reid from Bolton and Adrian Heath from Stoke". After a few months and a few more signings: "Everton’s ranks were now packed with internationals". Do we scout these days? What were the background for bringing a young Swindon forward onboard?

Yes Chris I agree with your assessment of our new signings but I wouldn’t gamble £8m on anyone who hasn’t proven their worth! I don’t think Nugent falls into that category. Maybe when he comes good we?ll have him then? I don?t know who we are going to take on loan from Arsenal. If they are good enough for their first team then they won’t want to loan them out and if they aren’t then I don’t want them anywhere near us.
Good point Haavard, but I think the problem now is the likes of Steven, Reid and Heath would cost a fortune! Apparently West Brom want £15m for Curtis Davis. Times have certainly changed.

Chris, why haven’t we invested in two strikers? Well, firstly because we already have Johnson, Vaughan, Anichebe, McFadden, Cahill and young Lukas on the books. And secondly: we are trying to buy a striker! (Oh, and already bought Lukas.)

Who are these Arsenal strikers? Van Persie? Walcott? Eduardo? They’re all in the first team. Bendtner is the only one on the periphery and we HAD a loan offer rejected.

If Arsenal had any strikers to spare, they’d want them in their own first team as they don’t seem to score too many themselves.

Chris
You may be prepared to gamble on Nugent but rumour has it that Redknapp has already seen enough and is ready to dispatch him to Derby with Yakubu as his replacement. As for McFadden ? He is the latest "hopefully if he can get a run of games he will come good" striker following in the Mo Johnston, John Spencer tradition. I can’t think of many players who play for a club for 3 or 4 years and basically make no impact but then suddenly become good ... except for Barmby who promptly left for the Kop and became shit again about a year later.

If McFadden is the answer what the hell was the question !

the question was:
"If Andy Johno had hair, whose haircut would he most likely copy? Snodin’s Mullet, Pointon’s Perm, or Faddy’s Rats tail?"
I hope that solves the mystery

On the question of AJs hair or lack of. As a point of interest to my wife, is he follically challenged or does he shave it off? If the answer to the second part is yes, what is his natural hair colour?

He, like I will soon be, is fonically challenged.
i remember he had an awful curly mop of blond hair in his early birmingham days, though i may well be mistaken.
I’m intrigued as to "the wife’s" interest?

The thing with McFadden is when he signed he looked a world beater against two of the worst sides we have playerd in the last TEN years..Stockport and Leeds when we tonked them 4-0.It was incidently the beginning of the end for Leeds United..McFadden does have some skill but the two things that will prevent him ever really making a proper impact at Everton are his obvious lack of pace and the other fact that nobody really knows even four years on, where he should play..He is definetly NOT a left midfielder i:e lack of pace..And he is never really going to make an impact as out and out striker due to the lack of striker instinct, he is not the type of player who will score tap ins or one on ones..His most obvious role would be behind AJ in the hole but once again with the amount of midfielders we have thats not going to happen on a regular basis either..He is very much like a Barmby example but the only difference I can see is that Barmby eventually nailed down a regular place before leaving..I cant see that ever happening for Faddy at Everton..I personally think come the summer he will get a decent move somewhere, maybe even Celtic or Rangers. He is worth about 4 million in todays market though, especially for that goal against Charlton.

Theres a player at Blackburn who so far from what I have seen is ten times the player Nugent is...Matt Derbyshire. He has the class touch, the accurate shooting ability and the strikers knowlegde that is so valuable.. Some players have that and some dont but Derbyshire is a player who we will hear alot more about in years to come.
