Yakubu!!

Comments (13)

Just recieved a text message from O2 Everton stating that Middlesbrough have agreed the fee of £11 MIllion, also read on Skysports.com and they have revealed the same information. A lot of money, however I believe it will be a good signing as whenever I play fantasy football I always look out for him and he is alway near the top of the forwards points tally.

Woah, we just signed Yakubu, according to sky sports news, or is this usual bullshit? Anyway if he has its about time. I can't wait to see him play.

At last 3 weeks since we heard, and we have agreed the fee!! Fantastic news, this one has got my waters running freely now.. I think Yakubu and Johnson up front is an excellent prospect for Everton.

Are we defo signing Fernades?? If so with the guys in midfield I think if we do, it would give us many options and let us vary our play much more...

This is an exciting time to be an Everton Football Club supporter!

I hate to be cynical but, as he has not asked for a transfer, isn't it the (ridiculous) norm that he now negotiates a "loyalty" bonus?! Cue more hassle, back and forth etc etc. (I'm glad we have another striker but too much paid for him?)

I really do, but why do I get the feeling that Yak will turn out to be a lazy overpriced mistake? Maybe I'm paranoid after Beattie.

35 goals in 2 seasons for Boro is enough for me Craig!

And to all the naysayers and a certain person who said my optmism was nothing more than a ’fairytale’ well I HATE to say I told you so...

The Yak is not prolific, he’s like a brutish bull. Seems like good business though, Manny as well. I think we are now one of only 5 English clubs to sign a player over £10m. The usual top 4 and Spurs. Speaking of Spurs, Jol’s job being offered about - frighteningly reminiscent of Scholari being offered Moyes’ job. If Spurs lose Jol, we might have one less competitor to worry about.

"a brutish bull"- I didn’t know there was any other adjective(or word to the smae effect) that could best describe a bull. Perhaps a mild mannered and reserved one.

Moyes best buys so far have been for moderate money albeit I think Manny will be good, at £11.25 Mil the judgement will be a longish one on the Yak.
Lets wait and see

I hope this doesn’t come back to haunt me but Yakubu unlike Beattie has been relatively prolific wherever he has played and not just one good season, he has scored in Europe too which will no doubt help, think it’s pricey but what price goals these days?

George, London. You are as pedantic as you are without comment. OK it’s a double - more betterer if you had added an interesting thought.

You only get a true feel of how good a player is when you watch him live. Has anyone here seen Yakubu play preferably more than once? If so was he one of those players that really stood out? did you shit yourself everytime he got he ball?

I think Yakubu will do better than Beattie..When we signed Beattie it just seemed to me that it was always destined to end before it even started..He had been injured through the first part of that season at Southampton..We then made him our club record signing and there were people not so happy about that..Then all we ever seemed to hear was that Beatts lacked match fitness, that went on for the first nine months of his Everton career..He came in had a good purple patch then went well off the boil again when AJ signed..It feels sometimes as though Beattie was never really at Everton his playing career was really that short..Yakubu played 36 league games last season and in his two seasons at Boro he scored 35 goals in all competitions..To me thats good but thats just my opinion..I think he will have more success here than Beattie.
