Kenwright moving the goal posts ?

Comments (16)

In his interview about the stadium debate he says that "if more than 50% or more than 17,500 vote No then we won't be moving to Kirkby". So, what if the vote is 49% No, 5% (spoilt votes), 46% Yes, does this mean we will still be going because the No vote is below 50% ?

Word on the street in Kirkby is that we are moving there one way or another so don't be surprised if the above becomes a reality.

Oh for Gods sake, grow up. He is saying that if the result of the vote is "No" then we won’t be going, that’s it.

Correct Tommy we have all been had. In many ways the vote was a huge publicity exercise that has gone wrong.
Kenwright, Earl, Woods will lose a fortune if there is a no vote. One way or another the vote will be yes

"Word on the street in Kirkby" - from someone based in London. I hope to goodness that this isn’t a serious article or else it proves that BK simply can’t please some people.

Everton have had an insight from the electral reform society as to how the vote is progressing over the last 3 weeks , although not exact figures but they know if they’ve been successful in procuring a ’ yes ’ vote , this was confirmed by paulc of KEIOC a couple of weeks ago . It’s been apparent to me that this last week , we haven’t been inundated by a mass media campaign from Everton which can mean only two things , 1) It’s a yes vote or 2) all the votes are in and no amount of propaganda will alter the result , I personally am resigned to think that BK , KW and boys know is a yes vote ,
If it is .... and that’s a big if , then I hope we can just continue the season in a dignified manner and support the blues in what promises to be our best season for years and not let what is to happen distract from this and what ultimately is the most important thing THE MIGHTY BLUES

Wow, some over the top angry responses, and there was me thinking I had asked a valid question.
My original thinking was that there had to be more ’Yes’ votes than ’No’ for us to move to Kirkby, now it seems that it has to be more than 50% ’No’ for us not to move. There is a huge difference there for me.
For the record, I’m originally from Kirkby and have lots of family there, I hope this is alright by you Mark, and Lee, please correct my English or Maths, if indeed you went to sKoOl.

Tommy, your sarcasm at least shows that you have a sense of humour, which should be admired I suppose when people, including myself, were having a dig.

I was not suggesting that your post needed amending gramatically, merely questioning your ability to understand the spoken word and interpret its meaning. We have been told all along that the club would not move forward with the Kirkby proposal if the ballot resulted in a ’no’. Therefore, by deduction, it is sensible to assume that if a majority ’no’ result (over 50%) is reached then that will persuade the club to halt the negotiations with Knowsley and Tesco. We have never been told, as far as I can recall, that there must be over 50% of ’yes’ votes.

Further, we are now told that a ’no’ result will be reached if over 17,500 ’no’ votes are returned. That is roughly 48.5% of the ballot papers that have been issued. So it is even possible for a ’no’result to be recorded if less than 50% of votes are ’no’.

Fans have been given an opportunity to voice their opinions here. It is a fair ballot. If less than 17,500 people vote ’no’ and the remaining ’no’ votes do not equate to over 50% of the total number of returned ballot papers, then the result cannot be ’no’, and the club will continue with negotiations.

Simple.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode when Homer and Ned ended up moving the lawn in their wive’s dresses because whoever’s son didn’t win had to and the crazy golf ended up as a draw.

LOL - I didnt even swear, it was sarcastic.

Interesting how someone who does not support the Toffeeweb agenda gets censored for a remark, yet some other users use all kinds of poor language.

No wonder Toffeeweb isnt taken seriously in most parts of our support. You say we’re all entitled to our own opinion - but only when it matches yours.

Seriously Biased. Funny.

Anyway, thats me done with this pokey self-serving website.

"49% No, 5% (spoilt votes), 46% Yes".

Forgive me if I’m wrong but isn’t that 101%?

John Charles......you say you do not suppport the Toffeeweb agenda (whatever that means) and you say that Toffeeweb isn’t taken seriously in most parts of our support. Fair enough. Please forgive what to you might seem a dumb question? Why are you spending so much time here? I have lost count of your postings and can only assume that you are bored at work (and possibly at home too). Missing you already (not)!
