Bestway Option
Comments (10)
Apparently Everton F.C. (Robert Earl) have recently had discussions with Bestway and LCC regarding the Scotland Road site. I can't help but think that both Bestway and LCC would not be committing such a significant resource to this project and contracting the services of one of the world's leading stadia design companies if EFC had informed them that's it's definitely a none starter....IT JUST WOULDN'T MAKE SENSE. I suspect that if their plan is found to be financially viable, baring in mind that most pro-Kirkby voters would wish to remain close to the city centre, Everton could still opt for the Bestway option whatever the outcome of the ballot.
What do others think?

I have voted no and want to stay in Liverpool. The Loop site sounds good, but the site is not viable with major and expensive reconstruction of one of Liverpool’s busy roadways. (Both the Wallasey Tunnel and Scotty Road). It will be too expensive.

The story was clearly heresay and conjecture - no way did they meet.

Gerard - first, Stve did not actually say they had met. However there were very brief discussions on or about the 26th of July. Earl did indeed phone Malcolm Carter. Not hearsay. Fact.

I dont care anymore.
We’ve had the ballot and the result will be out shortly. Until then, let’s get on with our lives.

Even if Everton weren’t serious about the Loop - what a superb piece of advertising for a previously obscure bit of land Bestway are trying to get shut of.

Lika: Bestway were approached by LCC who were approached by Trevor Skempton regarding this site. They did not start this process even if relocation is their own major aim. Furthermore, do you really believe any piece of land is so obscure, so near to Liverpool city centre at this present time? Especially one that can link the city with the proposed project Jenifer which has always been a major concern for city planners.

They can’t have met, under the exclusivity deal with Tesco’s they cannot discuss any other options.
