Despite The Daily Post reporting that Yakubu agreed his deal last night I won't believe he's ours just yet.
Call me a cynic if you like but I can't help this little thought crossing my mind....The Yes/No Kirby ballot is closed at 12 noon which means everyone will have had their say one way or another, all the papers will be in and the club hoping their lastest 'transfer swoops' will have swayed the 'on the fence voters'. With Yakubu and more importantly Fernandes still to be officially confirmed don't be surprised if at sometime later this afternoon we find that the deal for Yakubu has broken down due to the players'excessive wage demands' or something similar....as for Fernandes where is he ? you'll most probably find that some obscure govt./Premier League ruling has halted that deal !!....call me a doom monger if you want but we all know it could happen !!

£11 million for Yakubu sounds a hell of a lot. He is a good, but not world class, player and certainly no better than Johnson.
But, since the departure of that fat lump Beattie, we clearly need a new striker. And one that can fit into the team straight away without having to acclimatise to the Premier League.
So, if we are uncomfortable with paying silly money for Yakubu, realistically who could / should we have got instead?

In today’s prices no matter who we bought to replace Beattie was always going to be over valued,so lets just hope he improves on Beattie which to be honest should not be to hard

Don’t worry that the Manny/Yak have broken down.Doddy has assured us elsewhere on this site that ’both will be unveiled at the weekend holding up a montage of the Tescodrome under a banner proclaiming ’The People’s Choice’’

Im half expected the Yakubu deal to brake down at the last minut aswell..Its nearing the end of the transfer window and we are( reportedly) close to signing two big players..I remember the Sean Davis transfer broke down through a failed medical on August Bank Holiday Monday of 2003. I’m waiting formore of the same this season..Nothing is concrete with transfers anymore, especially with us..Does anyone actually know what the big long hold up is with the Fernandes deal?.He was meant to officially sign last Friday wasnt he?. I am still having a bad feeling about this move to be honest.

I you’ll all hang me for this but at 11 mill plus I would have gone for Crouch.
At a lesser value Alves who Boro are after is an even better investment at 6-8 mill.He came runner up in the Golden boot award last year and scores goals for fun wherever he has been.

I’m sure Doddy’s read it right.I expect both players to be on the pitch doing the scarf waving thing before Saturday’s game.knowing Moyes he wont want to put them straight into action. We’ve got such an abundance of talent in their positions ,anyway!(joke)

FFS!Even when Kenwright finds the bread to sign top money players, people have to keep carping.Of course he’ll want to unveil them for maximum impact and if he does,I for one, will be cheering him to the roof-tops!

Yakubu and Manny
Both players seem to be attitude/confident/confidence players. Whether or not they succeed at Everton remains to be seen, wheteher they can be brainwashed into Moyes’s Hard Work Ethic and being able to track the entire pitch in a match remains to be seen.
Oh and another thing that remains to be seen is there signatures and seeing is beleiving.
I for one am positive for the new season and hope these two lads are Everton players come saturday. If that be true, new stadium aside Kenwright/Wyness/Moyes I salute you.

Shaka, Is this true? We can’t allow Manny to be exposed to a fat Spanish waiter with a beard like Captain Kidd can we? Mind you , the Spanish are supposed to hate the Portuguese aren’t they, just like we hate the French, so it probably is true! If you want to organize a rescue party let me know and I’ll be the lookout.

And my Borough friends tell me ’hard work’ is not something Yak is addicted to.He’ll work his bollox off for a few weeks but loses interest by Christmas-that’s why all his goals come in first half of season. But then, you don’t get dedication for a mere £11.3M do you?

Vote yes to Kirkby and you’ll see both Manny and Yak being paraded. If you vote no then we can kiss them goodbye.
Dave Roberts, Manny was spotted in Nandos. The fat Spanish waiter owns Nandos. He saw his chance and kidnapped him!!!

Observing any major Everton signing is like having a tooth pulled. But guess the PR guys have to stretch it out until tomorrow to co-incide with the Kirkby announcement!I wouldn’t mind that if the bugger was any good!he’s another beattie,i’m telling youse.
Has anybody firm details of the ’Boycot Blackburn Game’ if the vote is a Yes?

I tell you something I cant believe how negative some people are about transfers sometimes..We are on the verge of signing a proven goalscorer yet some people deem it too much money spent..Let me just run you through this list...Does anyone think Carrick was worth 18 million?. What does he do in a match to be worth that much?. Dean Gordon?. A 9 million pound goalie..He couldnt stop Sunderland losing 3-0 to Wigan..The fee Bellamy went for..How many did he score last season?. Wasnt many was it?. Richardson-Man U reserve for 5.5 million?. 6 million for Nugent-unproven striker from Preston..West Brom want 10 million for Curtis Davis for heavens sake..How about 7 million for Francis Jeffers?. In 2001?? There are probably many many more than I have listed or can remember here but its just an example that 11 million for a proven, yes PROVEN top flight striker is a very good value..Look at Yaks career since joining Portsmouth in 2003/04 season..Double figures every time..COYB
