Anderson da Silva to Barnsley on loan?

Comments (16)

Barnsley's official website brags about signing Anderson on loan, yet there is no mention of this on EFC's site or any place else on the net. Another case of Moyes signing a player who can do something meaningful with a ball and then be too afraid to use him (AvdM, Pienaar)? Answers on a postcard.

Apparantly Anderson is on his way to Barnsley. Seems odd that we would offer him a yr contract and then loan him out in this case. If he is here for a yrs cover then why loan him out? Usually we do that when we are grooming a player for something. I thought the whole Anderson contract was basically a face saving operation due to the situation getting him in in the first place.

Is it for the whole season? If they just took him for 3 months or so then it might do him good to get some regular first team football in England then get him back when the fixtures start to pile up in the new year!

Why is it odd? He’s not going to get first team football with us for a while so we’re loaning him out for a month - whats wrong with that?

He’s only there for a month fret not.

It says they are taking him for a one month loan, it will give him regular playing time. Van der Meyde has been too drunk to set foot on the pitch, and Pienaar has been here for 3 games, and has figured in two of them.

Its apparantly a one month loan but they do qualify that with the term ’initial’

could it be to satisfy any work permit issues, anyway with manny, pinar and jags to shore up the mid feild a spell on loan could do him good

he showed some real promise during pre-season

nowt to do with work permit, he now has spanish passport.

Nev, Cars and hopefully Manny above him so a good chance for him to get used to physical side of english game. Also, if he exels in championship then great, if not we know he is not good enough for us. I imagine we can recall him if needed so a good way to keep him fit. I am very happy with the news.

I do have a niggling question on the original post though, I saw the news on SSN, however you claim not to have seen it anywhere other than on the barnsley website, Why on earth where you on the Barnsley website?

Sounds like a shrewd move by Mr Moyes to get him a few competitive games. Presumably this could only be sanctioned if Manny has been secured?

To be honest I cant see why Everton kept him on just to waste the lads time..The plan was we wanted him back in 2005 but obviously all the red tape prevented it happening..Its also obvious that he is no longer in Moyes plans..He hasnt even made the bench yet this season despite playing in some friendlies..I thought he may have been given a run out in the league cup but if he is going to Barnsley then it suggests we dont really want/need him.

One would assume that this means Manuael Fernandes is about to or more likely has already signed.

EFC are probably holding off on news so they can announce YAK & FERN together, sending out a statment of intent to the rest of the league and hopefully Europe.

Oooo, look at us, we spent £20m in a week.

Lots of chat about Manny, but where is he? I know this is a complicated signing: third party ownership and all that, but for God’s sake it’s over a week now!

I think it’s a good move to get him some match practise. We’ll also presumably be able to give Turner and Ruddy some more loan experience soon.

I’ve seen him play a few times and he looks out of his depth totally, not cut out for the Premiership yet so this is a good idea.

Moyes too afraid to use players who can do something meaningful with a ball? Have you ever heard of Mikel Arteta? Manny Fernandes is also pretty useful on the ball .

Pienaar’s chance will undoubtedly come and seriously AVDM is a wanker, thats why Moyes doesn’t play him.

My mate’s a Barnsley fan - I told him the other day that we had arranged a closed door friendly with them this week and that I’d let him know the result - no idea what it was, but with this news, I’m also left wondering whether De Silva played for us or them ?
