The Everton Way

Comments (10)

Yesterday, Real Madrid were linked with signing Robben and Heinze - they have just announced their signings. This fucking morning Chelsea were linked with the Barcelona right back ? just announced signed him on a three year deal. Last week we announce we are signing Fernandes within '24 hours' ? it has all gone quiet. Yesterday it was mentioned we would be signing Yakubu ? on his way ? no news yet.

This 'Everton Way' really pisses me off - sack the Communications Manager, I say, who is clearly out of his depth. Just keep the long-suffering fans informed of developments that is all we ask ? a statement such as "discussions are ongoing" would suffice ? instead of the deafening silence.

God only knows what kind of a team we will put out Saturday - I can only hope they are waiting for the Ballot result and in true 'Theatre Impresario Style' announce the capture of Manny and the Yak at the same time. Well, one can but dream?

Come back into reality and get your facts straight. Robben has been linked with Real all summer, not just yesterday, and Heinze has been linked with a move away for months, with Real being reported a possibility weeks ago. Those haven’t been smooth and quick transfers. Chelsea have been in a transfer tussle with Alves for months now, having numerous bids rejected weeks ago, and then decided to sign a different player. The Yakubu deal was announced yesterday with this quote on the official website: "The Nigerian international centre-forward is now travelling to Merseyside for talks with The Toffees." And this: Further developments with the transfer will appear on evertonfc.com"

David right-Burke (Barks): Fact - Real agreed fee with Chelsea yesterday. Fact - he has now signed on dotted line. Fact - Real Agree fee with Man U for Heinze yesterday - he has now signed on dotted line. Fact - Everton agree fee with Benfica and management company last week - where is he? Fact - Everton agree fee with Middlesbrough yesterday - not signed yet. My point was all about communication - it must be one long fucking journey from Middlesborough if he is still travelling to Goodison....medical done? discussing terms? get my drift? That was my point numpty - get your head out your arse.

IMHO Yakubu is a poor man’s Heskey-without the work-rate.Moyes has not proved himself a genius in signing strikers-Beattie and Johnson cost a combined £15M and managed about 30 goals between them in over 100 games-not great by any standards.
Now I want to be wrong about Yakubu but I just hope the Moyes apologists will judge him as a £12M striker and if he fails to bag 17-20 goals admit The Moyesro has got it wrong again.None of the ’tries hard, works for the team’crap with this one....PLEASE!

Steve,
How long did the tranfers of Tevez and Mascherano take to be completed? They took weeks, because of the paperwork regarding the third party ownership, which is what we have with Manny. How do you know how long Chelsea were in talks with that player?? Perhaps they had everything already worked out but nobody had noticed due to all the attention being on Alves and that transfer saga. And why do you have to resort to calling me numpty and telling me to get my head out my arse? I said no such thing to you. I didn’t know you were specifically talking about the club communicating, that’s all you had to say.

Fernandes and Yakubu were in the bag two weeks ago, believe me.Only the need to link their signing with the yes vote has delayed an announcement.

He will be judged as a £12million striker but ’Poor-mans Heskey’??? Are you a crackhead or somthing, have you ever watched football before? To say Yakubu is a poor-mans Heskey is one of the most ridiculous things I have seen ever seen.

Purple Aki since 2004 has scored approx 21 goals, Yakubu on the other hand since 2004 has scored approx 50 plus goals.

Yakubu second only to Henry in last 4 years. doesn’t sound like a poor mans heskey. He is also 4-5 years younger.

Also, Robbens contract will have been sorted out months ago, probably the same with Heinze. Also, comparing everton to Real Madrid in transfer market. GET REAL.

Fernandes is due to paperwork, everything else agreed, just need Premier League to take their fingers out.
Yakubu, deal agreed yesterday, Everton underake 2 day medicals (rightly so) my guess is he’ll sign tomorrow.

MY god people will complain about anything.

Get a grip.

The Yakubu offer was only accepted yesterday. He had his medical today.

The problems with the Fernandes transfer are well documented.

What’s the betting that they both magically appear holding their new shirts on Friday morning once the pro stadium news has been announced? Kenwright shoving his head aboove the parapet when perceived good news is announced - that’s the Everton way!!

I think that the difference between Real and Chelsea is that they have are not negotiating a complicated deal for said players. Chelsea wanted £20M and Real paid it.
We seem to be in a mindset where every transfer is based on staged payments and bonuses etc. Strangely enough it started after the Rooney deal! Bastards got Kenwright thinking...
Have to agree with others though that the deals have been delayed to coincide with the outcome of the ballot as well.
