We are moving to Kirby guys!

I’ve seen the report. We’re moving to Kirkby. Looks like we might get Manny and Yak after all, just to soften the blow for no voters!!!

Breaking news on Sky Sports (6.25pm) The result to move is yes. How on earth do they know..........? I feel sick.

Sky Sports News headline reel has just announced that 'Everton fans have voted to move to Kirkby'. Thought the announcement was at 10:30am tomorrow (or are they doing a practise run??)

Skysports news has just reported that the fans have voted YES to the move to Kirkby. I thought the vote was going to be announced tomorrow.
Steve Ferns
12   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:29:54

Maybe, Kenwright was so excited that he thought he would announce it early. Someone should remind him to at least pretend to count the votes
Nick Harrison
13   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:32:26

No ’no’ voters should be too concerned yet. It’s not set in concrete that we will move to Kirkby and, as another poster suggested a while back, this may indeed be something we can use to squeeze the LCC.
Danny Mullally
14   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:36:42

Even if my no vote is iin the minority, do you honestly think that this ground move proposal is even nearly over? I havent even started yet. It will be interesting to see the result, but it means Sweet FA to me to be honest. It was always going to be a Kirkby vote. I just hope fellow "no" blues feel the same.
The fight is only just beginning.
Steve Ferns
15   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:42:13

I can see a long season ahead of us. Maybe kenwright’s spending spree is in the hope of getting top 4 and preventing disillusion setting in and full scale protests during games.

I can see us having a really bad season if the protests do kick into top gear.
Allan Hounsgaard
16   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:45:05

I’ll second that Danny.
The fight is just beginning, Kenwright has no idea what he’s in for after this.
Gavin Harris

"The fight is only just beginning."

Thing is mate, that there are people pro kirby who feel as strongly as you. If its a YES Mate more people wanna go than not so its nothing you can do...

Not that i am a pro-kirby guy, I have no vote, just saying as it is mate.
Gerard Madden
18   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:56:46

I can’t help but guffaw at the net warriors on here talking about ’battles ahead’ and the like - it’s the fans in a democratic ballot who’ve decided to take us to Kirkby.
Steve Ferns
19   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:55:56

If we are going to protest we need to organise better we have done previously. People need to articulate their points more eloquently.

Our point is not that Kirkby isn’t in Liverpool, its that Everton needs to occupy a relatively central location as possible. so as to secure the long term fan base.

Lets lay off the personal attacks though eh fellas?
Steve Ferns
20   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:59:54

Gerard, it was not democratic when loads of my mates didn’t get a vote for the simple reason that they get a number of season tickets to one account. Most people are in a similar position. I would not have had a vote, except for the fact that my dad stopped going and I transfered the account into my name.
Gavin Harris

"I can?t help but guffaw at the net warriors on here talking about ?battles ahead? and the like - it?s the fans in a democratic ballot who?ve decided to take us to Kirkby."

Spot on. This is why Bill did the vote, because he knew people slate him for moving the club. WE moved the club and not Bill.
Greg Murphy
22   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:53:19

Awesome, hey Mike Dayton? Yep, my wife, as red as they get, and her family, agrees with you. Her text has been red hot since 7pm and she’s been hiding a snigger and having to leave the room to continue the conversations with her folks and her mates who are blitzing her mobile: "...I know, I can’t believe it, I was dreading them voting ’no’. I can’t believe they’ve been so stupid. I knew they were thick but..."
As for my phone, it’s off.
Oh aye yeah, it’s awesome, Mike. Not. In fact the only thing I can say will be awesome will be my hangover on Sunday because some lager tap in the vicinity of GP (ooo no, it’s a crime to like a bevvy around the ground isn’t it?) is gonna get a right hammerin from me after the game on Saturday.
Awesome! Dear god. Yeah, by all means enjoy the fact that you won. But spare us the "awesome".

I hope its true as well. We have to think big and look forward. The tesco Stadium will offer great opportunities for expansion.
Lee Spargo
25   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:10:55

so the ’no’ voters have started already. We haven’t even had the official result yet!!

Face it guys, there are more fans for the Kirkby project than against it. Deal with it. Grow up. Respect the result. Stop being so childish. You dont always get your own way in life.

26   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:05:17

If the vote is confirmed, why are the No voters protests going to be aimed at the board?...It was the fans who voted for it. We were all given a choice. Vote for a new stadium, or stay at Goodison to await the outcome of various other schemes.Just accept the outcome and get behind the team. As for any possible move, the hard part is only just beginning. I believe Kirkby opponents want all residents to have a vote now. Then there’s planning opposition. Remember Kings Dock?..90% odd voted for that..Protesting would be pointless and only serve to help the opposition.
Danny Mullally
27   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:15:38

To Lee Spargo amongst others who beleives that "there are more fans for the move than against it" I have 11 mates who never got a vote, all of whom are against the move, my vote represented what 11 friends wanted to say but couldn’t say it. Before you ask why they cannot vote they are proffessionals in Army, oil rigs, assorte Universitys away from Liverpool etc.
The 33,000 ballot papers were a selected percentage of a vastly wider fanbase. It was good of Bill Kenwright to do this but I was under no illusion from the off that this vote would be anything else than Kirkby. There are thousands of Evertonians against this move, and if you think that calling us morons and trying to brush us under the carpet will silencce us you are in for a big surprise my friend. I respect your opinion, so you respect mine.
Allan Hounsgaard
28   Posted 23/08/2007 at 20:59:57

Correct Steve. It needs to be organized. The yes voters may feel as strongly as the no voters, but the no voters have an obligation to keep on fighting as we are the righteous ones. I can name quite a few nasty regimes who managed to mislead people with their propaganda, and in that respect Kenwright and Bully are no different. It?s well documented that they are economical with the truth, perhaps even downright liars. They most be put under pressure and exposed for what they are.
Whole nations have been blinded by propaganda, and so have the yes voters, with the deluded idea of a quick fix and growth of Everton as a club if we move to Kirkby. They are not able to comprehend the consequences of this which will end in the demise of our great club. We have a responseability to future generations of Evertonians. Kenwright must be pressured to sell his shares and resign. The world is litted with investors who could sort this stadium issue satisfactory to Everton and it?s heritage.
Danny Mullally
29   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:22:19

Steve Fearns-

You are spot on too mate anybody agaisnt the move needs to tidy up any aggressive notions towards fellow fans, it will only alienate you further and take away from what we are trying to say.

Karl Masters
30   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:24:42

Should this be true, it will be intersting to see what the response from LCC will be. You would hope that they would find a way to rapidly up the ante. Maybe that’s what BK has wanted to force them to do all along?

Seriously... Yes and No Voters: How would you feel if a city based alternative comes up in the next few months that looks as good as Kirkby? I just wonder what might happen.
Steve Taylor
31   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:24:24

Danny - you & your 11 mates would have voted no - so what?

If the vote is yes - then the majority are in favour of Kirkby - to start talking about "the fight ahead" & "we haven’t even started yet2 is an nonsense.

You asked Lee to respect your opinion - so respect the opinion of the majority (assuming the SSN report is correct) & even if it is through gritted teeth, accept that we’re off to Kirkby - you had your say (which didn’t need to be the case) & the alternative viewpoint, seemingly won the day.

From my perspective, I’d follow the Blues wherever they chose to build the new stadium - it’s not the bricks & mortar, or the location, that makes EFC my club - I get the feeling that some No voters won’t accept defeat & will continue a vain "battle" against the club - when it’s the supporters who’ve made the decision.

Mr. Taylor, the club did not give all season ticket holders a vote. It was not a democratic process and the vote is fundementally flawed. How sir, can I grit my teeth and accept it when I fell as if I’ve been cheated?
Karl Jones
34   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:35:37

Allan, Do you not believe in democracy? I can think of a few nasty regimes who didnt believe in abiding by the outcome of a ballot.
Steve Ferns

Mr Jones, how was it a democracy?
Steve Taylor
36   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:34:52

but the no voters have an obligation to keep on fighting as we are the righteous ones

----------------------------

Behave yourself - the righteous ones - FFS!

Carry on mate - stand in the way of the bulldozers, camp out in Kirkby town centre - it won’t make a shit’s worth of difference - there was a democratic ballot & your opinion wasn’t echoed by the majority of your fellow supporters.
Allan Hounsgaard
37   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:38:29

Karl
It’ll take to long to explain, but this ballot had nothing to do with democracy. Just because there seems to be choice, doesn’t mean that people can’t be manipulated into giving the answer the people asking the question would like.
Steve Ferns
38   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:45:13

Allan, it was not a democractic process. The vote was a token offer as Kenwright knew the season ticket holders would outvote him whilst if he watered down the number and gave the vote to others, who are outside of Liverpool then he could claim that a democratic vote took us to Kirkby
Lee Spargo
39   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:44:43

FAO - Danny Mullally

Firstly, if the result of the ballot is ’yes’ then it is reasonable to assume that there are more fans for the move than against it.

Secondly, if your friends did not qualify for a vote then tough shit. I presume there will be a similar number of potential ’yes’ voters that also did not qualify.

Thirdly, your 11 mates may all be against the move. So what? Every Evertonian that I know personally, bar one, is for the move. Lets not pretend to represent a broader fan base shall we?

Finally, it’s not that I dont respect your opinion. What I do question however, is the apparent disregard and lack of respect for the result. And we’ve not even had it yet.
Karl Jones
40   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:52:25

Allan, you cant seem to grasp the fact that every individual has the right to make up their own mind whether yes, if they believe whats being offered, or no if they dont. Thats what has happened. Thats Democratic..33000 fans all season ticket holders or shareholders...Where do you draw the line? Voting en bloc where you can coax any number of people who feel the same as you do to vote?..That then becomes manipulative...Anyway,I think we should all wait for the official announcement as Sky have made mistakes before.
Steve Ferns
41   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:54:19

Karl have you not read my points or are you just ignoring me?

Furthermore, I’ve been watching Sky Sports news for almost 2 hours and seen nothing of it, only a mention of Yakubu
Steve Taylor
42   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:47:06

So the "out of town" Blues shouldn’t have been given a vote then Steve?

I was against the whole idea of a ballot for 2 reasons; Firstly, I consider that a Chairman & CEO of a large company, should make fundamental strategic business decisions themselves & I considered it to be weak leadership. Secondly, I felt it was potentially devisive, amongst the supporters who were being asked to make the decision.

However, having given the fans a vote, which didn’t need to happen - the outcry is now seemingly, that it was either fixed or even if it wasn’t - our view is right & you’re all cunts for not agreeing with us! & we’ll carry on protesting until we get our way!

Accept defeat with some grace - get behind the club & the team - let’s move on.
Steve Ferns
43   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:57:06

I did not say that, Mr. Taylor. All Everton season ticket holders should have got a vote. Loads of them did not. Therefore, it was not a democratic process and therefore I will not accept the "outcome".
Steve Taylor
44   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:59:40

Mr Ferns - 33,000 did get to cast their vote & there’s no point challenging the rules for elligibility after the votes have been counted!

You make an assumption that those unable to vote, would have voted No.

The bottom line is - either like it or lump it mate - the choice is yours.
Barry Bragg
45   Posted 23/08/2007 at 21:33:02

Steve Fearns. So you had mates that wanted to vote no and couldn’t. Well I had mates who wanted to vote yes but couldn’t. Why can’t you just accept that the majority of a cross section of support have voted for Kirkby. Why do you assume that the majority of people without a vote would have voted no. Surely the non voters would have been split in the same ratio.
Karl Jones
46   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:02:56

Not ignoring you Steve! For your question regarding democracy, see my reply to Allan..I think we should wait for the official announcement, as this story seems leaked by an unofficial source
Karl Jones
47   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:08:51

Steve Taylor, In hindsight, I now agree with your point regarding the vote, as opposition in Kirkby are now trying to set up a referendum based on us having a vote...God knows how long that will take.
Steve Ferns
48   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:08:47

Mr. Bragg, of the 20 or 25 people I know that have season tickets. Only 14 had a vote. I was one of the unlucky ones. Unfortunately for the club is the fact that none of those who got the vote wnated to vote yes. Whilst there was a couple without who were leaning towards a yes vote, for personal travel reasons. My bone of contention is that so many people got to vote who have not held a season ticket in the last few years and that is a hard pill to swallow.
Andy Lynch
49   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:10:40

Whichever way you voted, accept it and lets move on. Anyone who gloats is just as bigger gobshite as anyone who kicks against the will of the ’people’. Can we talk about footy now?
Karl Jones
50   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:12:48

Steve Fearns, did you not contact the club and ask them to send you a ballot paper, or ask why you were omitted?
Steve Ferns
51   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:16:04

I was not omitted. I got a vote.

However, you only got one vote per account. Therefore, if you had one account for four tickets then you get one vote.

Democracy in action.
Karl Jones
52   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:15:37

What Andy says is right.. Just get behind the Blues and forget about it. We’re all supporters. We dont need these divisions.
Tim Collert
53   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:18:20

I said Yes to Kirkby with my one vote.
I just can’t stand hear listening to endless debate about different options which could take ages to materialise whilst our club stands still, if not takes steps backwards.

A new stadium was a must. Whether it be in Liverpool or more specifically Everton was only ever going to be an added bonus for me.

What an interesting debate, good arguments from either side, internationally relevant, we’ll be talking about the Iranian revolution soon.

Allan
56   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:43:31

Even if it is a yes vote, doesn’t mean it’ll definately happen does it? Nothings been signed, its only in principle.

If you’re against it, then seriously, its just tough - the people have spoken so you can talk about ’my mates not getting a vote’ etc but that counts for nothing.

If the party you didnt vote for in a general election get voted in, what are you gonna do, stand outside the house of commons with a placard? Get real, grow up and accept it. You were bloody lucky to get a say in the first place!
Greg Murphy
57   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:23:44

Karl Jones - I agree, we don’t need these divisions. Unfortunately, though, we have them and you were right to call them "divisions". For that’s exactly what they are. And, I can only speak for how I feel tonight, I simply don’t see how they can resolved until we’re about two generations down the line. Certainly not til I’m 6ft under anyway. I, for one, am not going attempt to heal the divisions. I won’t try and worsen them. But I’m not rishing for the Band Aid either. I’ve no choice but to accept this vote. I’ve no choice but to accept that a person voting "yes" had just as much right to their opinion as me and my "no" vote. But I do have a choice as to how much I wish to be fraternal to those whom, I genuinely believe, have pushed EFC beyond the brink of no return. I truly believe we’ll be relegated within five years of going to Hollywood Park. That’s my opinion. Agree, Disagree. Scoff. Not arsed. The divisions can remain for the rest of my Evertonia as far as I’m concerned. I am absolutely gutted. Totally bloody crestfallen. And I don’t mind letting the likes of David Barks, Lee Spargo and the Daddy of em all, Dave Roberts, know it. There’s not even a hint of me putting a brave face on this. They won. I lost. They can dance around and punch the air all they like. I’d be exactly the same had the "no" vote won. But they’ll never understand the depths of the despair I feel. And that’s been the difference between the two camps all along: I just can’t understand how anybody can vote for us to go to the relative backwater that is "the K place", (I can barely say the name), whilst they can’t appreciate why I’d wish to prevent the club progressing into a new dawn. Each to their own. But don’t expect me to hold a Blue and White scarf aloft with anybody who voted "yes". They probably wouldn’t want to hold one up with me. And vice-versa. Faird dos. The fan base is now split. Period. Irreversible. Irrepairable. We’ll just have to see how we all rub along together. Won’t we? But any sugar-soap "we’re all Blues together" doesn’t hold anything for me anymore. The Rubicon has been crossed.
Karl Jones
58   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:44:04

Steve Fearns...So its one vote per account as opposed to one vote per Season ticket..This is like the old Poll tax debate!
If Maggie Thatcher was chairperson, you would have got four votes.
Sandy Brown
59   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:48:56

Even if the Ayes have it, it’s clear that Evertonians are split down the middle about this. For either side to say "the people have spoken, get over it" is laughable. If we were talking about a huge majority, say 85%, one way or the other, then it might make sense to say the argument is over. But otherwise, the arguments have just begun.

Right or wrong, that’s the only hard fact on this page.

This one will run and run. A terrible beauty is born, and all that stuff. Civil war on the terraces. Brother against brother, father against son.

Whats going on. The result isnt even out yet and everyones bitching like a shower of red shite.

If this is the result and the announcment comes through tomorrow then we need to all stand by it. WE ARE ALL BLUES!!!! The fans have spoken.

All the bitching from the NO camp makes you sound like a bunch of kopites. No individul view is greater than any other, only collectively as a club can we move forward - and i think we will.

We are the peoples club and regardless of what you think of the board the people have spoken. Assuming this is the reuslt, we have gone through the peoples process - a vote (regardless how floored) and now we have a result.

The moaners and whingers sound like dirty little kopites. They didnt get thier own way so they spit thier dummies out. It reeks of rafa.

"Last minute rule change anybody". "I demand to speak to the authorities". Surely there arent True Blues that think they have the god given right to everything like THAT LOT do. Not our style. COYB!!!!

Opinions are bound to be split and its a really emotive subject but WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!!!!!

64   Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:01:00

Martin

See my earlier post mate. You just don’t get it, which is fair enough, but there are hardcore Evertonians on here, who’ve been watching the club for 40 years or more, who simply think this is a disasterous move, one they never thought they would live to see.

Now, all the "we are all blues together" doesn’t alter the depth of feeling amongst a sizeable minority of Toffees. Nor does calling them kopites or whatever childish insult you want to hurl.

The No side might have to live with the result, but the Yes side will have to live with the shock, horror and deep sense of foreboding from those who were, and are still, totally opposed to the idea of this move.
Karl Jones
65   Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:51:04

Greg, I respect your opinion 100%, but totally disagree.
IF, this move goes ahead I feel that 2 or 3 seasons after moving we will be wondering what all the fuss was about..Great stadium, Great sightlines, loads of room, major investment. Its like going to the dentist. You make all sorts of irrational excuses not to go. The next day, you wonder what all the fuss was about and you feel a lot better.
The way the premiership is now, Everton need to move forward and this is our only realistic chance to do that. Every other stated option has been blown out of the water.
But the hard part is only just beginning, and I have doubts as to whether it will happen.
You cant help but remember the Kings Dock.
Greg Murphy
66   Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:09:20

Well I can only hope you’ve a better crystal ball than me, Karl, regarding on-field matters. We’ll just have to wait and see. As for whether "K" will go ahead anyway and the wider comparison with the Dock: well I think Leahy and Earl are the difference this time. Despite the delaying tactics that the Kirkby Residents’ Action Group will instigate, they can’t stop the juggernaut. Everton will be playing their football in "that place" from either 2009 or 2010. Of that I’m sure.
Martin
67   Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:14:19

Greg - my reference to reds isnt directed at any individul its an observation towards thr tone of some of the previous posts.

I understand this subject has created division between our fans and will no doubt continue to do so for years to come.

I may look back in years to come and regret the decision I and the majority of other eligiable fans took in the month of August 2007, but the point I try to make is .......... if this is the decision that has been made then are we not best getting behind the club and focussing on the future?
Greg Murphy
68   Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:24:42

No doubt Martin. I will indeed be getting behind the club. As will every other "no" or "yes" voter. But, a bit like the M1 and M40 both get you to London, we’ll be on different tracks. But the end goal is the same. Lame anaology, I know. Probably wise to lay off the "rs" type of comparisons, though. Especially on Saturday. Anyway, I guess, starting now, both camps will have take their first steps in what I think will be a very, very long journey. I wonder which camp walks with the greatest trepidation, though?
Ann Adlington
69   Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:20:53

The ’yes’ voters can join in the celebrations with the rs - you have something in common to celebrate. By the way, up until Tuesday, at least 37,502 ballot papers had been sent out. Voters included away supporters who took out Evertonia membership in order to buy a ticket for the more popular games at GP.I wonder which way rs and red devil Evertonia members voted?

70   Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:24:50

The results have been officially released then?

Noones right or wrong for voting yes or no. With some of the shit on here though a few could do with looking at the news and seeing an event which puts everything else in its place. If we move, its not the end of the world.

You see, Everton will always be Everton and you will always love them. Nothing will replace Goodison but we will make new memories at our new place.

Ann, the vote was a fix.

The give a token vote to season ticket holders. One per account regardless of how many season tickets you have and then give one vote to each Evertonia member. How can an Evertonia member have the same rights as a season ticket holder? Its an outrage! Its a fix! It stinks to high hell!

Steve i’m an Evertonia member and i voted no.
You seem to assume that all Evertonia members voted yes. I dont think thats correct.

I didn’t make that assumption. I just believe that evertonia members are more likely to vote yes than everton season ticket holders. But that is based purely on assumptions and conjecture.

All,

I read on an earlier post that there are an estimated 850.000 fans worldwide. The allocated fanbase whilst admirable at face face value does not represent the views of Evertonians worldwide.

People have knocked fans from ouside of Liverpool for backing these proposals.

I believe the spilt is not just outside but worldwide. My experience is that people afar as Australia, Continental Europe and the Americas are just as likely to have the debate as we do locally.

One thing they are all in favour off is that our present board has alienated a huge part of the fan base. This is from the so-called peoples club. The quicker they all move on the better. So much now depends on the team getting quick results.

If not this club is fucked forever.
