Whatever the outcome of the vote when the official results are announced tomorrow, please do not let emotions affect the support for the team on Saturday - or any other time, for that matter.
We now appear to have a good opportunity to consolidate - even move forward - with the squad that is being put together. Irrespective of where we end up playing, no true Blue would want this potential to be unrealised.
So keep any protests for before / after the match!

protests need to have maximum impact and thus can only be during the match

Mate if you do it during the game you will effect the team, and if you effect the team you are NOT an evertonian becuase NO true everton fan would want their team to lose.
Do it after the game for the sake of the team and our league position.

Will people be protesting about going to Kirky, or not going ?????
If whoever loses votes with their feet, there will be no protest, and a fantastic atmoshphere inside the three quarters full ground.
We didn’t have to be given the vote. Accept the decision either way gracefully, and get on with supporting what promises to be our best team/squad for donkey’s years - together.
Come on all Evertonians !!!

As stated despite the Kirkby issue I WILL be cheering the blues and I will not be cheering the vote even though I voted yes I support the team not a ground. My opinion I respect others differ and good for them thats what life is about.

Steve. Get a grip mate , its a football stadium moving 4 miles down the road. There is no great cause to fight for. Your not saving the planet, fighting poverty, saving jobs or protecting livelyhoods.
We dont even know the result yet. I’m pro Kirkby but didn’t have a vote and I know many others in the same position.
Thats the problem with democracy, you dont always get what you want. If its no I’ll be gutted but I’ll still be there or anywhere else to see the blues. We must accept the result, unless of course you think your opinion is far more important than the majority. Then we can have anarchy. Grow up.

Well said Tony (Miller). I’m 48 and supported since 1966 despite being a Cumbrian.
The important thing is the team, not the location.
In an ideal world our ground would be in Everton itself. Sadly this will never be, and the move to Kirkby to me is a financial no-brainer as the only way for us to regain our rightful place amongst the elite.
Yakkety Yak - did U score that ???

I will be going the game regardless of the result of the vote, and I will join in any protest against the move and the board. I will continue to renew my ticket all enjoy the twilight of Everton at Goodison before giving up my season ticket and going to the odd game at Kirkby, and counting the days until Everton returns to the city. I just hope that it will be in my lifetime.

I think it’s funny that everyone who has a post that mentions Kirkby declares their allegiance to either the yes or no vote and then states that everyone they know feels the same as them.
Does this mean that everyone in the Park End voted no, whilst all the Gwladys/Bullens voted yes ???? - or vice versa !
Bearing in mind the relative views from these ends, I might be quite close to the truth.
Steve Ferns

But the location is so important to all Liverpool born or liverpool based fans. Its the reason you support the club for god’s sake. you support your local team.
If Everton had been in Kirkby before I was born, then I would definately be a red. That will be situation with our children and why I refuse to accept this and why I will fight until the very end. and tomorrow is not the end.

Steve F- you will be there on Saturday and cheering the blues even if the vote tomorrow declares we MAY be moving to Kirkby.Do you think for one minute that the move will go ahead? It will not be a smooth ride and someone is bound to cock it up anyway. Let’s concentrate on backing the team with our potential two new signings and give them our full support. If we move to Kirkby i will be there are I think you will too. We can’t help ourselves. It is a drug, that feeling you get before a match will not go away, the anticipation/excitement so please lets not protest during the game as it will effect the team. Many thanks.

kirkby is 8 miles out of Liverpool. St. Helens is only 11. Would you go there? Its only another 3 miles, though.
You have to draw a line somewhere and the line for me is about three miles closer to the city than Kirkby.

Sad fact of the matter is mate, that I know i’ll always be an Everton fan. But the fanatical aspect will dwindle and my kids were always destined to support Everton. Now I won’t be so determied to make sure they follow in the family tradition. Plenty of others will do the same and the fan base will dwindle and that will have a knock on effect that will reduce Everton to a 2nd tier team at best.
Tony Miller

Steve F.
I respect that you are against this but please do not say all people from Liverpool are against it as we are obviously not.
I know people from the city who are on both sides.
For those out of towners and it would apear you include. Huyton kirkby etc in this group. Who would be their local team then.
Please don’t say Knowsley Utd as we know we are talking about local footbal teams in the top divisions.
Keith Harrison
Posted 23/08/2007 at 22:56:50
Steve, I respect your views mate, but I do only have an admiration for my local team, Carlisle. Everton have tugged my heartstrings since 1966. I don’t think you really mean you support Everton because they’re local, it’s because they are your true love.
We are born, not manufactured, we do not choose, we are chosen. I firmly believe this, and believe this is why Merseysiders will continue to support Everton as long as they are at least within resonable distance of the City/region.
It would be interesting to know if there was a similar outcry when we left Analfield over 100 years ago, and don’t say ’look what happened to Liverpool - they overtook us’, because thier history only really started in 1965.
Steve Ferns
Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:05:41
I’m not saying that most people in Liverpool are against it. But most out of towners are for it. They don’t understand the emotion of the location to those inside the city.
I do not include Huyton and Kirkby for that matter as out of towners. They are from Liverpool. And before you say: "well what are you arguing for?" its not about towns or distance, its about presence and proximity to Liverpool the city. You cannot be a mojor team from the outskirts of a city when there is a bigger team right in the middle. We have to be in Liverpool to grow and be a success and hopefully win things.

I can’t predict the future and being the simple guy that I am, the immediate aim for me is for us to win a match of football on Saturday.
I appreciate both sets of views on the ground move and would not be object to the "Nos" staging some form of peaceful, vociferous protest. But not during the match please! I can’t imagine Evertonians fighting each other in the stands for instance (and I could see it coming to that!) is going to do anything for the team’s focus. Or persuade the likes of Manny or Yakubu to sign, if they haven’t already done so.

Keith, I support Everton because of my dad, because of my grandad and because of my great grandad. They have all supported Everton because its their local team and there mates played for it. My dad does not go the games anymore and says that Everton and modern football in general is not something he can identify with, because none of my mates even had a chance of playing for Everton. We support the club because of its location and prominence within our community. If they had been in Kirkby before my birth then I would probably support Liverpool.

I think that if a protest starts up then there will be no opposition. There will be no fighting. The "yes" fellas i know are not vocal in their views and when discussed in the pub sit quietly. I remember the shock when one of them said they voted yes when everyone of us was opposed to it. The aggression seems to come from the no camp.

Steve Ferns
Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:21:16
Ray, I really can’t see it. Most of the trouble makers are no voters, to be honest. All the yes voters I know are quiet and unassuming. I really cannot see it coming to blows. I think there will be vociferous protests during the game but they will pass without incident. No doubt Kenwright will have told stewards to throw out protesters for any act that constitutes threatening behaviour.
Ray Robinson

I believe that if the result was the "Nays" by a whisker then there would be no protest.
All the emotion is with those who want to vote no and understandably so. If the "Ayes" lose then it will only delay a move, it will not defeat it. We have to move, its just a question of where. Unless someone coughs up the dough to rebuild goodison.

Tony Miller you know what you >are talking about before you post mate.Huyton is a massive place split between 2 local
councils. The L14 post codes in Huyton<>come under LCC the L36 postal code under Knowsley council. So the Page moss
>Dovecott,Swanside areas of Huyton are within in the city boundaries anyway.Even have the purple wheelie bins .So your point is flawed. The L36 side of Huyton were I am from is more scouse than Scotty Road mate..Most of the families there<>were bombed out of the South End of Liverpool during the War.My Grandparents came to Huyton from Pitt Street and Great fredrick street L8 in 1943. All their old nieghbours who lived in the same street As them moved to the same street in Huton with them. The Scouse community carried on as normal. So dont get me started on Huyton please..Even so Huyton would be no place for EFC as its too far from the city center and thats what this is all about.Out of town Blues dont understand unless they are exiled scousers .Sorry but its true.Liverpool is unique and a part of it is being ripped away. Its not right at all.

Well said Paul Gladwell, I too go the game with a bunch of fanatical blues, all are no voters. People can argue over who’s paying for what as much as they like but for me it’s very very straightforward, even if the kirkby ground was for free and it looked like the nou camp it still would be wrong to move there. If we move to Kirkby then for us, everton will die. In fact they shouldn’t take the name with them. If the board and all the people who voted for it want to go, then leave the name where it belongs in the city and call yourselves something else. On a final note, regardless of all the success the rs have had we can still hold our own in this city, but that will be a thing of the past if we let Kenwright and the voting traitors get there own way.
Steve Ferns
Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:34:20
Mr. Marsh, seems we have something in common in that regard. My family is from the St. Johns part of Huyton, or Huyton-with-Roby as my mother calls it. My Dad tells me that his family were relocated after there after the council moved everyone out of Scotty Road before the war.
I also agree that Everton has to be as central as possible. I don’t want Everton in Huyton, Knowsley or even in Speke (which is in the boundary). the boundary is not the problem, it is about proximity and presence.
Allan
Posted 23/08/2007 at 23:38:35
Isn’t it a bit of a contradiction to be saying leave Everton in the city or disband the club altogether though Kevin? Surely an Everton somewhere is better than no Everton at all?
This is all very reactionary.

Everton gave all season ticket ACCOUNT holders one vote (that’s a fact ask the club). One vote per account, regardless of how many tickets are purachsed on each account. So many season ticket holders do not get as vote.
Evertonia members get a vote each.
Why would they do this. Out of towners are more likely to vote to move. Because the club tell them to and they don’t quite have the same affiliation as those who live here. Season ticket holders are likely to vote no 9I’m not saying it would definately be more than 50% - just they are more likely to).
Therefore, Bil can say he gave a vote and sleep easy knowing he will win it.
it is a crime not giving each season ticket holder a vote. i know some are young kids but surely their parents deserve two votes for forking out all that money year on year.
Allan
Posted 24/08/2007 at 00:09:37
Fair point, but 2 votes is wrong, you cant have people voting for their kids. I wasnt aware of this fact and you mar or may not be right, but I doubt it’d stand up in court.
I do feel for those who feel so strongly about the move, I dont feel its a bad idea for the club but I totally see why you do. We could probably talk all night on this but we’d get nowhere.
Good luck to you Steve in voicing your opinion to the club if indeed it is a no vote. I for one though, will be happy whatever happens.
All the best mate.

Why dose every one of the yes voters keep saying its only four miles most no voters I know go to a lot of away games the travelling is not the point in fact I personally would find the traveling easy I live in old swan at the end of the m62 add to the fact that because of health problems I could go in the disabled section I could now but prefer to stay by my mates and yes all five of us over fifties would vote no but sadly only I have a vote but I think its time to call it a day as far as arguing about it I do not think either side are better evertonians than the other simply because we all support the blues its just I prefer to think the no vote is the right one.its now getting stupid I know Tony Marsh gets carried away at times but to suggest hes not a good everton fan is utter tripe same with Ian Mcdonald and I’m sure the same can be said for yes voters too I think nows the time we should all take a step back or we will destroy Everton as we know it
