How much Everton have improved

Comments (12)

I know there are other things going on today but I've just read Gareth Southgate's comments about Yakubu signing for us. I'm happy because of one quote from him:

"We feel at this moment in time that his head had been turned by the possibility of moving on, and I can understand that."

It shows how much Everton have improved over the last few years that we can have that affect on quality players that they get excited and want to come here. I know Boro aren't exactly a big club but they are a club who tend to throw bucket fulls of cash at players which is the opposite to us.

Hope he's a great signing for us, I have no doubt he will be.

What have we won ?

We will be having the same arguments in 5 years time with the same amount of trophies in the cabinet.

Give it a break, Tommy. No-one outside the top four has won anything for years. We are getting there. Stop being such a twat.

Neil - Is ’twat’ the only word you know ? You seem to say it alot.

We will see in 5 years time just how well we haven’t done. And just because the top four dominate that doesn’t mean that we have to drop our standards.

Tommy, you are the only person on this site I have ever abused because I think your comments are ridiculous, and your attempt to claim that the vote was corrupt is a disgrace.

Actually we are moving to Kirkby so that we don’t drop our standards and can compete with the top four. Staying at Goodison or mooning after some non-existent Loop would be a way of dropping our standards.

Point out exactly were I said the votes were rigged ?
I did say I was amazed that 11,000 votes were not received, and that’s all I said, literally.

So you think moving to Kirkby will increase our chances of catching the top 4 ? Well I don’t, I think this move is a huge risk that could really see the demise of Everton, and it will be irreversible.

I don’t trust Kenwright in any decision he makes after his past record and I am convinced we will be in the same position in 5 years time. He, Moyes and the rest of them are simply not good enough.
If, as a collective group of supporters, we demanded more success, we would vastly increase our chances of winning silverware as the Chairman would be under more pressure to deliver.

I couldn’t agree more with John - the fact that a number of players seem keen to come to Everton (and more so than the usual ’Once I heard Everton were interested’ nonsense - speaks volumes of how players are starting to view Everton as a serious contender to ’the big 4’, and a club going places. The move to Kirby will only enforce this view.

Can’t we all just be thankful that Moyes has at least moved us on from the days when we had Ferguson and Campbell both on £30k plus a month and both were accused of being a drain on our resources.
At least now Moyes has lowered the average age of the squad considerably and brought in, what i believe, to be some quality signings over the last 3 years (Yobo, Arteta,Cahill,Johnson,Fernandes,Yakubu,Howard...need i go on).
Why is it some Everton so called supporters only seem happy when they think they have something to moan about? Let’s leave that sort of thing to the red bastards who ALWAYS believe the have a god given right to have things their way.
Let’s just get behind the team, before certain players or staff get fed up with our constant depressive outlook and go and ply their trade elsewhere.
There’s only 1 team that i love and have done for 35 years.
Come on you Blues.

I have been one of Moyses fiercest
critics but after the moves for Yakubu,Manny,Baines,Pienaar and Jagielka not forgeting old Steffan! I think we are improving.
No we’re not top four material just yet but we’re getting there slowly but surely. No longer are favourites for the drop or mid table cannon fodder but genuine contenders for a European spot.
There is a belief in the squad,a will to win that hasn’t been seen since dare I say the dogs of war era.
So yes I say we have improved and lets enjoy it.Forget the stadium debate and lets get behind the lads.
Also there are more impotant things than football and my heart and condolences go out to the family of Rhys Jones. So when we’re enjoying the upward surge remember 1 little boy who will never watch us again.
So lets batter Blackburn and raise the roof for him tomorrow!!

Tommy, I’ll bet you’re a laugh a minute on a night out. We’re all doomed, we’ll never win another thing. Reality check, we are the last/only club outside the top 4 to break into the champions league slots, Kenwright’s decision to appoint Moyes was the best thing to happen to this club in a long time. We now have a side that is improving year in year out and has quality signings being added to it.

The average age has come down significantly since Smith was in charge (and we all remember the dirge that was served up under him). We may not (or may) challenge the top 4 this season, but if we continue our current rate of progress, we will be doing so regularly in the future

Once again you’re another example of someone who, just becuase the vote hasn’t gone your way, has thrown his dummy out of the pram, and before you try any derogatory remarks on me ,accusing me to be an ’out of towner’ or a closet RS, I live in L4 and I voted no. But I’m big enough and respectful enough of people’s democratic decisions, to accept that the vote was a yes, and now I move on.

Get a grip, if not join the minority who won’t go again when we move. Because you won’t be missed.

Spot on the days of desprate signings such as Ginola and Gazza are behind us.

Checking teletext on the last day of signings only to find we have only signed Beagrie have gone.

We now have the core of a very good team. Other than the top 4 I cannot see any other team out there with a better squad and I include the Spuds. They may have greater depth but we have greater talent.

This has been a long road to travel and we still have a long way to go, before we challenge the top two. I can see no reason why we cannot push pool and Arsenal for 3rd or 4th. Not saying we will get it this year but we are ready to take the next step back up.

I for one will be with them all the way.

Say what you want about Kenwright, Tommy, but the fact is that we HAVE been progressing WHILST he’s been bullshitting about Rooney’s £50Mil valuation and the FSF. So it looks like his bullshitting is a lucky charm for us.

On the pressure issue, what on earth makes you think pressure makes people word better? Jol is under immense pressure and he’s fucking things up. McLaren has the most stressful job in football and he’s about to go as grey as Sven. Real Madrid put so much pressure on their coaches that they sack them after winning La Liga. Should we be doing that? Should Alex Ferguson have been sacked for not winning four trophies last season? You’re a bloody idiot.
