Has the Fat Lady really sung?

From my understanding of the associated reading around the recent vote, it was asking whether the club could continue negotiation on Kirkby. It was not a final say that that is the end of the line. I am somewhat disappointed with the result, but one thing I do hope is that those that really do have the means to offer a viable alternative do not give up!

It seems all so easy for people to throw in the towel now, but realistically this is where it should begin, the club has its allowance to continue this negotiation, and they will no doubt look to tie it up quickly. Maybe itis a pipe dream that something, someone will come up with something totally concrete at the 11th hour.

As for what we can do as fans? Well if you disagree with the Board of Directors, let them know, I would only ask that any protest should not be aimed at players (whether they support Kirkby or not), but at the Board. 40% of 40,000 people can make quite a noise, so do it.

But the other call I would want to make, is if someone voted Yes or No, let them make their own choices. This talk of traitors, turncoats and whatever else just makes my blood run cold. We are all Evertonians, we all had a choice to make and still have. It may be over, my words meaningless, but if all the no voters simply pack in and take their ball home it is definitely over.

Make your voices heard, don't give up. And hope that somebody, somewhere, has the means and the drive to put the package together, that we can all get behind. A quality stadium in a quality city! (I am out-of-towner in case any of you were wondering)

So will you be coming down to Goodison to add your voice to the chorus of protest? Or will you be sitting snugly in the Athens of the north listening with delight to the torrid atmosphere you espouse as a response to a democratic defeat? Players will pick up on that atmosphere whether or not it is aimed at them. It is people like you who will be the death of Everton Football Club, not those supporters who voted YES or a new stadium located in Kirkby. I don’t know whether or not you had a vote, you don’t say, but the Club gave a plebiscite in the best judgement it could make as to who should be allowed to participate. And the NO vote was defeated but that is not good enough. Now you want to take your crusade into the stadium. Or rather, you want others to take the crusade into the stadium for you. It makes me sick.

Silly of you to think you were allowed to give your opinion, and stick to it, without some arrogant tosser coming along and telling you to shut up.

The vote may have been Yes, but people are still allowed to campaign against the move aren’t they? I mean, Margaret Thatcher got elected but some of us were still Socialists - know what I mean? Even she didn’t totally fucking ban the losing side from having a point of view.

Democracy doesn’t mean gagging the minority.

Yeah, campaign all you want, I couldn’t give a toss. But not in the stadium, during a game. Gag yourselves in there because whatever little gripes you lot have, the team and their results are more important. At least they are to me. But I am beginning to wonder about the likes of you and Dave Turner, Sandy! Grow up.

Most important thing is the club. It is how you interpret what is important for the club though. We all have different ideas and right now may no be the best time to begin ranting and raving from either side. I voted no and I am disappointed, but with what has gone on in the last couple of days with the death of a young evertonian, this whole issue does not seem to be important to me at the moment, and I think we should all give it a rest this weekend at least.

Political campaigning is all well and good, as long as your difference of opinion doesn’t shatter a way of life. while the ideology of the club may be changing, we fans need to show a united front. Pleas support the team in the ground and use a forum like ToffeEweb to express your opinions in order not to destroy the thing you love.(Remember Old Labour?).

I have always said that I would accept defeat at the ballot and I will but 15000 fans is less than half the normal gate so although the yes won and I will abide by the result I can understand if others cant accept it as it is a hollow victory But I would like to express my contempt to those who did not vote both sides of this voted for what they perceived to be the good of the club so do these non voters not care if so why bother going to the match

Well said Danny - you’re spot on there mate.

I know you’re passionate about this issue, as are many others on both sides - but you’re bang on when you say that we need to take time out to respect the passing of young Rhys.
