Ballot result....Everton Statement.

"a majority of those Evertonians who were eligible to vote do support the Club in its desire to relocate to a new home in Kirkby."

Fact; 41.5% of those eligible to vote, voted in favour of Kirkby.

"It is reassuring to know that the MAJORITY OF EVERTONIANS do support the Club as it pursues its long-held desire to provide a WORLD CLASS STADIUM."

Fact; You cannot possibly know that 41.5% of those Evertonians eligible to vote represents a majority of Evertonians.

Fact; Stadia built at the paltry cost per seat represented by the figures for the Kirkby Stadium cannot possibly claim to be world class... otherwise all new world class stadia would be equally cheap (after factoring in the Tesco subsidy) and they are not.

"The result comes at the end of a TRANSPARENT, DEMOCRATIC process."

Fact; Transparency should have included having people with an opposing view to the Club being in a position to monitor the process. Democracy implies that those eligible to vote would be presented with balanced alternatives from which to choose. Stagnation and oblivion were the only two opposition candidates. Priceless use of English.

Look, you’re just making things suit your own point of view. And it’s easily spinnable the other way.

Fact: A majority of voters voted in favour of a move to Kirkby.

Fact: It is reasonable to consider that the voting opinions of three season’s worth of season ticket holders, members of Evertonia and shareholders are a decent representation of "Evertonians"

Fact: For no more than £40-50 million, Japan built some genuinely "world class" stadiums for the 2002 World Cup. But what the hell is "world class" anyway? It’s not exactly definable.

Fact: The vote was monitored entirely by a third party, representatives from neither the opposing or supporting side were present. In any case the count was by an independent party, so regardless of who was watching, would be legitimate. Balanced alternatives were provided, neither the club nor KEOIC nor LCC sold their alternatives very well.

Well actually those are basically opinions, rather than facts, just as yours are. "I argue" is not the same as "It is a fact".

Robin...I didn’t start the post-election spinning...the Club is responsible for that. The Club are wrong to claim that the majority of those eligible to vote, voted yes. They didn’t!

If "world class" is not definable, why claim in your victory address that your new stadium will be just that?

There were no balanced alternatives (as you put it) on the ballot paper.....that is my point.

You will find that my "opinions" are shared by many people and I am entitled to respond to more Club spin, whether you and Michael like it or not.

For gawds sake let it go, we might not even get there. Just grow up, it was a fair vote and you lost that’s how voting works.
I didn’t want Labour in at the last election and they got less than half of the eligible votes.

Barry.....I am not disputing the result....just the margin of victory being falsely claimed by the Club. If maturation involves having to suspend my critical faculties then I choose to stay juvenile, idealistic and honest. Happy to end this thread after being allowed to put the record straight.

Fair enough, your also an Officer and a Gent for not rising to my petty comment. Apologies for my rudeness I’d woken up far to early after a heavy night on the beer and shouldn’t have been posting comments in my befuddled state of mind.

How many people dont vote in a general election or council election then moan about the way the country or city is run. If you dont vote in a democratic society it is your look out move to Iraq
