David Murray Slams Kenwright's Management Method

Comments (12)

Calm down, this isn't a personal attack by the chairman of Glasgow Rangers... it's a general attack on anyone who would: "strip out the club, take out the assets, sell the land, sell the best players, do a sale or lease-back with the ground or sell the training ground."

John, mate, interesting link, but you’ll have to help me see how it applies to Kenswright. If anything, this seems to be in support of Kenwright - someone who has, like Murray, not sold the club to an ’outsider’.

Kenwright has "taken out the assets"? "Sold the best players"? (Er... Cahill, Arteta contracts?) Please help!

Sorry, Nick - not sure where ’John’ came from! Early in the morning, sore head....

Take Wally Smith or an awesome young manager with an up and coming team - the choice is yours!

Well is’nt he saying that Kenwright has outsourced just about every part of Everton, hes sold the training ground for housing development, hes selling Goodison so we can lease a new ground, hes sold Rooney and he will sell any player that is worth selling in the future (its just that we dont have many decent players to sell these days)?

I admire how Kenwright has managed to keep Everton afloat, but if it wasn’t for Philip Green backing Kenwright he’d be up the creek without a paddle and the creditors would be knocking on the door. Its a good job Bill has rich friends like Green and Leahy.

Okay, but Iain, that’s the point - Bill DOES have rich friends like Green and Leahy (and Earl). And that’s why Fernandes and Yakubu have just arrived.

More Iain! Outsourcing and securitizing assets (to get money now) are common business practices these days, and often make a lot of sense. So if David Murray is saying that businesses shouldn’t do these things he’s talking nonsense.

As for not having many decent players worth selling now!! Words fail me. I’ll try: Arteta, Cahill, Yobo, Johnson, Lescott... (I’d guess there’s well over £50 million there if Bill wanted to pocket a bit of cash. Instead we’ve jsut bought Jagielka, Baines, Fernandes and Yakubu.)

Criticise Bill for some things, but this is just rubbish I’m afraid.

Iain,

Isn?t saying that Kenwright is lucky to have friends like Green and Leahy abit like saying that Abramovich is lucky that he?s a multi-billionaire ?
Or that Arteta is lucky that he?s got a talent for playing football ?

And (yawn) he didn?t sell Rooney. Rooney (for the one thousandth time) demanded to move because he hated David Moyes.

Have you seen us sell our best players recently? All I’ve seen is Everton building a stronger and stronger squad while releasing players that are not good enough to compete for a place in our team that will be playing in Europe. The other point would be selling the land. I believe the club have said we will own our new stadium, so I’m not sure where that’s coming from either. In all honesty, BK is not doing such a terrible job. At least we don’t have to worry about some Thai arrest warrants for our owner.

And that fact that he is a c**t! :-)

Gavin,

I assume you mean Rooney is c**t ?

Totally agree.

I think you lot have misunderstood my comments! If anything I was just pointing out what the original contributor was referring to. I was also actually praising what BK has done in the circumstances. Hes not a rich man (in football club owner standards) and hes provided Moyes with as much money as he can, but to do that he has had to do exactly what David Murray does not want to happen to Rangers. Yes, outsourcing is ’en vogue’ in the business world but so is low pay, trade union bans...so its down to your own opinion as to whether its good or not :)

However...I maybe wrong about this but did anyone make a bid for Arteta during the summer...erm how about Yobo...and Cahill? West ham sniffed around Johnson but realised they could get another mediocre striker for a cheaper price elsewhere. Lescott, proved to be a good signing, but hes been around for a few years and none of the big clubs took the gamble.

All the above players are good pros, but they are not exceptional which is why NONE of the big clubs bother going after them...clubs like Everton have to make do with best of whats left and if we do find a good player we now have to sell them (The Rooney/Moyes story is an interesting one...but why else would Moyes take offence and eventualy legal action when Rooney referred to it in his book?) Dont delude yourselves that we have a good team. The first half against Blackburn shows just how shite we are.

If big money came along for a player there is no way we would say ’no’. I just hope the first big is for £40,000/week Neville.
