Can you spell “hoofball”!?!

Just watched the match. Maddening is the word. One beautiful passage of play, converted smartly by McFadden, and DROSS the rest of the time. Why the long ball? Please, why the long ball? It's such a bald-faced idiotic tactic even an FM loser like me can see the stupidity of it. If this is how they are going to feed The Yak, then I'm afraid he's not going to produce. Please for the love of Dixie, sort it out, Moyes!

Yeah just watch it streamed on the net too and the game kept buffering on me which was probably just as well. Long ball is bad enough but if you’re going to play it don’t play it when you have 5 foot 8 johnson jumping with 6 foot 6 samba. we looked better when anichebe came on. despite his failings and his rawness he gave us a target and a bit of strength. hibbo was shocking again and the central midfield pairing were embaressing to watch. and they were only up against bloody savage. i’m not going to do like what most on this site do and call moyes a this and a that but we need arteta in the middle with one of carsley/neville/jagielka with one of those also at right back. and finally, lescott dropped/injured????????????????

The first half was the worst I have seen us play in ages. That’s saying something considering we’re quite often not very good.

Fair enough not having any attacking threat and playing aimless long balls; that’s Everton sometimes. But we didn’t even close down in the first half, people kept giving the ball away and we got dominated at free kicks.

We need Fernandes and Yakubu ASAP. Still far too many players that don’t know how to play football. Hibbert was just poor, again. Just when you think he’s learnt to take a bit of care with the ball, he has an entire game of twat-it. I would get into the side ahead of him at the moment.

On the flipside, Jags and Baines both did very well and actually understand how passing works!

Well Don we do have two replacements for those but Moyes is reluctant to play them: Jagielka & Pienaar. I would add McFadden to that list of crap - despite his excellent goal he can’t pass. Like I mentioned last week, if £4 million is on the table for Neville then you’d would be a mug not to take it

Well got to say that wasn?t to enjoyable a match as people on here have said why o why did we keep playing the ball in the air. The lad Samba at the back is around 6ft 5 and Johnson did not stand a chance against him in the air. I think today the squad was tested in some ways with Vaughan out injured we had only three strikers one being McFadden who doesn?t appear to know where he should play. I will give the lad credit for a well taken goal but at that time he was playing out on the left. I wondered why Victor did not start but when he did come on it appeared he was carrying an injury. I think the same may be said about AJ as he was a yard slower than normal today..I surmise Moyes took a chance of putting him on due to us being behind. He did make a difference as he was able to push their defenders around and cause problems in the air.

The things I took from the match were that Yobo and Lescott should be the starting Centre Back combination. Stubbs is good backup on the bench but due to his lack of pace and aging limbs cannot play week in week out. He ensures the defence play deeper due to this and today this played into the hands of a big forward line. In addition I feel he Yobo makes more mistakes with Stubbs as he is concerned about him being caught out which he was on a few occasions today. When Lescott came on we were a lot more solid and pushed out a little more.

Baines got to say I was very impressed with this lad on his debut, he has a good first touch can play the ball on the ground, likes a tackle and overlapped on a number of occasions. If this is a glimpse of what he can offer us he could be a bargain buy my man of the match.

Jags came on and again made a difference as Carsley is the same as Stubbs a great servant good for back up but time is catching up with him. Jags added a bit more height pace and bite in midfield and hopefully until Manny comes should in my opinion start. Then please but Jags or if not Neville as rightback. Tony needs to develop as we all know or just be a squad player.

Arteta is getting marked out of the match however he will step up to the challenge. Teams will target him as he is our creative force however if he plays on the right and Baines is on the left overlapping we may have a plan B, particularly once Manny arrives.

Other than those I have spoken about. Howard cannot complain pulled of a world class save and was not at fault for the goal. In fact he kept us in the game at times. Osman was the invisible man today. We don?t appear to be able to play when him and Faddy are on the pitch together

Overall for me a disappointing game that we could have won. I will not say should as Blackburn are one of those teams who will give most teams a match hence 1 all v Arsenal. To be honest they do play hoof ball but play it better as they have the players for it.

So hurry up lets sign up Yak and Manny and get Vaughan and Tim back if we do we will improve.

With the last comment I am glad we have our squad as a least we hopefully will develop the football(on the floor) whereas Blackburn supporters have a season or more of craning their necks as their team hoof the ball,
Don

The back four which finished the game should be the starting line-up in future games, especially at home. Playing Stubbs , Carsley and Neville in the same side at Goodison is asking for trouble. I do hope that we don?t see Neville and Carsley in midfield together as they tend to do the same job and thus become less effective. If we manage to get Fernandes and the ?YAK? we still may have a sucessful season if not we may be in for dissapointment. The basis of a good team is apparent but it needs a strong character ala Andy Gray / Peter Reid to really spark the team into life. 7 points from 12 is OK but we need to be looking for better performances more often , 3 out of the opening 4 games have produced more questions than answers. Come on Blues get it together and David please pick the best team available from the start of every match.

Oddly enough Tony Marsh pointed this out last week and got slated but he was right. You cannot play Neville & Carsley in the middle (AKA can’t pass won’t pass). The difference when Jagielka came on was immense he actually put his foot on the ball and either ran with it or passed it he did not hoof it, also Baines looks promising so there is hope things will improve.
A central pairing of Cahill & Jagiela, Arteta on the right and with Pinaar & hopefully Fernandes, Yakubu and A.N Other it should hopefully get a lot better.

Tony Marsh got slated for how he said..not what he said..

Sat in the family enclosure with my young un today..Moyes was Apoplectic about the way hibbert was constantly launching it..to feet he kept shouting ..also asking players to move ..or "come short"..mr Hibbert dont do as he is told..Moyes is trying to build a classy team ..but you still need workers..we ran the show for fifteen minutes , but when Carsley went nobody was prepared to win the second ball..well nobody in a blue shirt..
We looked so much more comfy with neville at full back and Joleon in the centre..Baines was our best player..but Jags had a good game also..
Is it just me(as I value other opinions) but does Andy J. look a yard slower ? I cant remember one timev he has got away from any centre half yet..has everybody else got a yard faster?

a lucky point, but a well worked equaliser...Roll on Manny and the yak

It’s not just you with regards to AJ I noted that earlier.

To be fair Terry I was wondering if AJ is looking injured (water on knee still) but I think it was Connor who said in another post that Samba as huge as he is is also very quick maybe a combination of the two is what happened.

Yes, I am agreed that first half was totally crap for Everton! Defenses without Lescott isnt nothing.. Again especially OSMAN and Hibbo was really disaster, wake up David! Jags and Baines play well..

Terry"marsbar"Maddock If that’s correct why does he keep playing Hibbert as he never passes to a blue shirt and he’s been at right back since Moyes took over. If he doesn’t do as he’s told surely he would have been dropped years ago.

Moyes has really go to start dropping Hibbert. He is simply not Premiership Class..how the hell can Moyes not see that. Personally I would keep him the sqaud this season as we need numbers then sell him to a Championship club..thats more his standard.
Next time someone sees Moyes can they ask him why he keeps picking him!
