The No 9 tradition

Comments (22)

We all know that there is a tradition associated with the Everton No 9, but there is also a tradition of launching long balls to whoever that player and his partner is.

Much as I was frustrated with Moyes inept tactics yesterday, it really is nothing new. Countless managers down the years have employed this tactic, Kendall did it when Mo Johnston and Cottee where playing up front, Smith did it when we had players of the size of Cadamateri and Jeffers up front.

To me this is basic poor coaching. The whole crowd could see it against Blackburn. I don't know if anyone else saw it but at one point in the 1st half, after Howard had thrown short to Baines, Moyes indicated to him to launch it long next time ? unbelievable!

I honestly think that subject to confirming the 2 new signings next week, we have the best squad of players at this club that we have had for a long time. I'm afraid I just don't trust Moyes to get the best out of them. There is no chance of him being moved on in the near future and that wouldn't be the right thing for me anyway, but I do think there is a need to shake things up on the coaching side and to bring someone in who is able to look at the players we have, see that its a squad geared up to play flowing attacking football and get us doing this!

I don't think there is a need to move any players out, but if progress is to be continued, the likes of Hibbert, Osman, Carsley, Stubbs and McFadden cannot be in the 1st XI.

Valencia have signed Fernandes, it’s on their official site. So there goes that one. We can thank the FA for screwing us on this one, letting the reds and United sign players with 3rd party ownership but rejecting us. This is a big loss, and the English league being the only one that doesn’t allow 3rd party ownership is an absolute joke, well, unless you’re Liverpool or Man United that is.

Hate to rain on your parade Barksy but you just wont listen.Kenwright has had your kecks off again. He got the yes vote he wanted using Terry Tesco and phantom signings to boost his popularity. Now watch as the Yakubu deal fails and the plans for the Lirkby stadium re shaped making it smaller and cheaper. You were warned enought times about this man. Also Ive just looked on both sites mentioned and there is nothing regarding fernandes.
I checked valencias site and sky sports and sevilles site and there is nothing on there at all.
So if youve nothing better to do than make up stories I suggest you get a life or go out for a drink.

just translated the artical the transfare will take place subject to a medical on tuesday a fee as been agreed with benfica in the region of 6 millon quid.

i feel gutted if this comes of why do we allways seem to goof up stuff like this the mancs and the RS got permission of the FA rather quickley when they secured the two west ham players with third party ownership and yet we seem to fuck it up and drag are feet, something seems a bit fishy going on behind closed doors a goodison,
any thoughts anybody

Just had a look at the Valencia official article again. My Spanish isn’t great but it seems to say the fee is 60 million euros. Now I know Fernandes is good but he aint that good. Is there a chance that this is a Riquelme-esque cock up. I note they seem to have a very similar style website to us.

Play "Moth Aircraft Carriers" by floating a shoe box in the bath with
a torch attached. Leave a window open for ten minutes, then turn off
the room lights and watch as the moths attempt to make their dramatic
and dangerous landings

20   Posted 26/08/2007 at 18:06:51

unfortunately not...

what it says is

Valencia FC have reached an agreement this morning, subject to a medical for the signature of Portuguese International midfielder Manny for the next 6 seasons with a buy-out clause of 60m?. The midfielder, 21, is a product of Benfica and will be presented by the club in the coming days

Hope that helps, even if it doesn’t feel good

You be safe and rip all them redshites woolies.

Liverpool fans. Avoid an asymetrical bulge in your right arm by masturbating furiously with your left arm too

Also Save money on expensive new kits by simply strapping a large fake penis to your forehead. It is now clear to all, as to your allegiance
