Miserable but I don't know what else

I was in a bad mood after the game yesterday. I thought it was a pretty scrappy game that on paper we should have won. But I felt better today. I stayed away from the computer to avoid reading any more match reports and watched the MU game to distract myself.
I ended up talking to a friend about that it was a poor showing BUT we were still 2-1-1 and since Everton is very much a team that on their day can beat anyone and when not on their day can lose to ANYONE, I wasn't too concerned about who we beat and who we lost too. I also reassured my friend our quality would go up a lot as soon as the paperwork with the Yak and Manny came through. Then I got on the web...
What the hell?!?!? First off Manny should be ashamed and I can only hope their is karma in the world and maybe one day he'll learn a lesson. On top of that, we need to find a replacement. 100% need to. I don't know who, but it better not be an MU reject. If we don't get Yak... I seriously will lose my mind. If Everton doesn't explain tomorrow someone, should get fired. Someone. There's a week left; they'd better do something to cheer us up.

...How can the board NOT have got Manny’s signature? It was all a foregone conclusion that simply required a rubber stamp or a further 50% stake. Wasn’t it...?
And WHY didn’t the board check whether Yakubu was eligible for a Visa? They MUST have known?
I’m not against the move to Kirby and I’m not worried about the move itself but worried about the way it’s been financed.
I’m very nervous about the club right now. We’re on a knife edge where it could all go extremely well or horribly wrong and I’m just hoping.....

£12m was always going to be £6m too much for Fernandes. Great (sometimes) with the ball at his feet but just plain lazy for the other 89 minutes. Sighs of relief all round.

lol, what a load of shit...pretty much every everton fan iv spoke to is screwing. i dont blame it on everton really or fernandes. The FA were taking ages to making the transfer go through, in meantime Valencia spot that all is not well make a bid for him which is garaunteed to go through in time for transfer window and thus they get manny. plus the fact they are a bigger club with a better team, champions league footie, nicer city.
and everyones a mercenary these days, if you never signed a player because he was in it for the money youd never end up with anyone good. The players who are arnt mercenarys tend to be shite !!!

What Kenwright should do, is fly out to Spain and offer Fernandes an improved deal and entice him back to Everton. If we want to compete in the premier league with top class players then we have to pay big money. If we take the attitude that we only want players who play for the shirt then we put out a pub team.
If this deal falls through, Fernandes, the FA, MSI have played their part but the buck stops with our board.

1. Fernandes’s contract is 2 parts owned by 2 groups - Benfica and a "3rd Party".
2. The 3rd party wasn’t that keen to sell its half as it thought he would be worth a lot more in the future.
3. Benfica wanted out this week as, mentally, MF was out of there.
4. The Premier League was being very slow looking at the contract details
5. Valencia took advantage of the situation. They can buy the half that Benfica own and just that half - La Liga rules, we can’t.
So what could / should BK, KW and DM have done? Well either put their bids in early, like they did last year or not bother. Personally, I am impressed they tried to sign him.
I am also impressed by Valencia. What a great steal! I only wish we could pull one like that.

They are the ones that are destroying football, with their greed!!
There should be something done about these mega rich parasites, theyh do fuck all in reality and take all they can get at the expense of football, they are the real mercinaries!!!!
Just pissed off about the whole affair, in think we will get Yak but we desp need a class midfielder who can control the game and win 10 games a season on their own.

Deals collapse for everyone be it man utd, chelsea. The Fa haven’t helped but it doesn’t mean it’s a conspiracy, kenwrights a fool or fernandes is a traitor.

Plus he’s rated at £10mil and is 29. A bit pricey for a player who we’ll always make a loss on

Choice (a) an english league club who conduct themselves in an amateurish way quite obviously trying to spend as little as possible and an english league being obstructive of shared ownership deals.
Or choice(b) a renowned Spanish team offering over the odds just for 50% ownership allowing the club to profit far more and the private speculator to retain their interest in an asset that will, barring ill fortune, probably double in value in a few years. Also a spanish league with no restrictive practices towards shared ownership.
Add to this the evidence of his own eyes watching a poor team by-passing the mid-field with a starting 11 that indicates that Moyes sees players such as Lescott as just another squad player to be left on the bench whilst players that almost everybody but Moyes thought would be used to fill gaps caused by suspension or injury play from the start in all 4 games so far. How can any of you lay any blame on anyone other than the management team at Everton.
Manny has my best wishes for his future which will probably be all the brighter for not blighting it by making the mistake of signing for Everton.
35 Posted 27/08/2007 at 10:55:21
If this failed because of the third party ownership. It will just go to show the favourtism shown to West Ham, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Bardwick and Scudamore are the people who should at this moment be removed from our wonderful game.
They have bent over backwards for the aforementioned but now seem to think it is time to clean up the act for anyone else.
I understand Fernandes trained with us last week. Lets not forget he was here for five months last year. The blame does not seem to land at his feet for me.
We should look at the more obvious. Wyness as CEO comes to mind.

Interestingly, I was reading an article in which Sir Alex Ferguson lamented the role of the "super" agent(in relation to the Heinze fallout). To effect he said that Agents weilded so much power over their players that these same players become almost dependent on their Agents for almost every aspects of their life. Agents dictated where players plied their trade.
I can’t help but draw parrallels with this "ordeal".Money rules the heart-on the basis of the proposed deal. Valencia paying in effect £10 million for 50% ownership whilst the agent retains his share. A 60million(euro’s) buy out clause of which if such event transpires his agent will be taking a healthy cut of. Simple accumaltion.
Like Alan Clarke mentioned, most footballers like with any other profession are mercenaries. Fernandes doesn’t/didn’t have any long standing loyalties towards us. And as Evertonians we sometimes fail to comprehend why anybody woulds crawl over broken glass to play for our beloved club.(C’mon admit it, when you single handedly skinned half the fith form team and buried your shot beyond Bill Jenkins in goal you could have given Sheedy a good run for his money).
What ever the conclusion, I guess we’ll never know the full details of this increasingly nightmarish saga.

There’s not many players we could sign now to curb this overwhelming feeling of being let down. Dunno if I feel let down by the club or the player? It’s hard to blame Fernandes but as mentioned, we probably will never know the full story.
Anyone think we’ll actually sign any players before Friday?

45 Posted 27/08/2007 at 12:16:37
46 Posted 27/08/2007 at 11:51:04
Here’s how I see it.
1. Everton put in a low bid
2. Bid rejected
3. Everton put in a new bid £6m for 50%
4. Bid accepted.
5. 50% ownership not considered by the board and FA state rules about co-ownership and effectively rejecting the transfer
6. Board work on obtaining further 50% (may be making an offer)
7. GSA don’t want to sell
8. Valencia make a bid for Benfica’s 50%
9. Benfica accept - which they are at liberty to do
10. Manny accepts new offer because the agents GSA don’t want to sell.
From what I can see the Everton board have tried to buy a player who is essentially not available to us.
It’s a bit like the board offering £2.5m for a £5m player and we have all seen that happen!!
I love Everton but I am very disillusioned by the board. It’s almost as if they can’t do anything right (or at least very little correct).
The Pienaar, Baines and Jagielka deals were brilliant but all this is a mockery.
For a peoples club they are certainly not holding any punches!
47 Posted 27/08/2007 at 12:20:19
I’d like to think that Moyes is as fuming as the rest of us about this.
48 Posted 27/08/2007 at 12:24:16
The accusations against the board seem to be:
We messed around for weeks sorting it out: This may be the case but both the Tevez and Mascherano deals took similarly protracted periods. It seemed every few days Ferguson was telling United fans Tevez was nearly signed. I see any reason why this should be classed any differently.
The board has lied and knew we could never sign him: This is a ridiculous claim with holes all over it. How did Everton know someone else would come inand gazump us? Why go to the trouble when if they wanted to appease the fans they could just spend the money on Yakubu? Breaking the transfer record is enough on it’s own without throwing in Fernandes as a sweetener. Why was he training with us if it was never really close to completion?
Everton tried to get him on the cheap: There was a buy out clause for Benfica’s share which we have fulfilled and the third-party had been touting their share for £6m all summer. We were willing to pay what was requested. If we couldn’t pay the third-party’s fee initially it was because we didn’t have the money to hand not because we were trying to wheedle out of it.
Everton should have had contracts in place to present this happening: Firstly we don’t know that they didn’t, Everton themselves have not responded to the goings-on yet. Secondly, people are acting like this was a normal transfer which has been messed up. It isn’t. In normal transfers the player has some say in where he goes. In this instance the player is simply an assett controlled by an owner. It’s like the Bosman ruling never happened. Therefore the player’s wishes are not being considered as would normally be the case allowing for gazumping to occur.
My personal view on what has happened is that the third-party has simply gone behind Everton’s back and seen an opportunity to get more money (and let’s remember that’s ALL they are in this for, they are far worse than agents who at least have a cursory concern for the player’s footballing career).
It drives me insane that those who seek to slag off Kenwright and Wyness at every turn for creating smokescreens and lying are engaging in rank hypocricy by inventing conspiracies and mistruths to hoodwink the rest of us into following their agenda. It’s EXACTLY what you are accusing the board of and you’re doing it yourselves.
49 Posted 27/08/2007 at 12:34:54
they could have signed manny months ago. they have had months to address the lack of playmaker and a decent striker and have chosen to leave it till 3 weeks into the season and 3 days to go till transfer deadline day.its a bloody shambles.
3 transfers , vogell ,fernandes and yakubu have all been a complete balls up and have been dealt with poorly.
yet again us fans are left the laughing stock of the prem .
enough is enough , someone has to be made accountable.
as i said on the os last night , the board cant even make a transfer properly so how can we trust them to move the club to kirkby ?
a vote of confidence in kenwright is needed before any more kirkby plans are set into motion.
every season there is let down after letdown with kenwright.i have absolutly no confidence left in the board.
its no point saying "look how far we have come under kenwright " as my argument would be we could have done much better with a more competant person at the helm.
also bank holiday or not , with this bad news moyes or kenwright should have addressed the fans first thing this morning but have left us all in limbo .... again.
furious
50 Posted 27/08/2007 at 02:18:52
I can imagine BK saying to Manny "Look Pal, it worked out for us both. We raised your profile so Valencia came in with a bid and I got the city of Kirkby and Tesco's to bail me out of a financial hole. We'll blame it on the premier league and the third party thing and we'll leave Moyes to get on with things. The last time I stitched him up like this he finished 4th so lets hope for a repeat."
The only downside for BK is that word broke with 5 days left for Moyes to spend his supposed transfer kitty. Usually these things happen on deadline day (Rooney, Kilbane) so poor old Moyes has no hope in hell of coming up with a Plan B.

I do not see any malice either from BK or DM here. Hey, we entertained the lad for the Blackburn game. BK even had him in company for an hour or so. DM already claimed on EFC?s website that the deal is close to completion. So EFC did really move for the player. But the lad did not place EFC as his priority. Hey, better late than never; it?s good to know that we did not sign a traitor.

go to news now and type in fernandes and the link is on there.
can i just say again yes fernandes is to blame for being a turn coat but that doesnt change the fact 3 transfers have been a joke this summer and also doesnt change the fact that the club have left it too late to address our squads short comings.manny or another player should have been signed months ago !
damn the player for being a git and the club for being incompetant.

Manny might not have much of a say in this deal by the looks of things, money talks remember. Ever bought a house and been gazumped at the final hour? It happens people, nothing we can do about it and I dont think you can blame the player under those circumstances.
63 Posted 27/08/2007 at 13:26:41
I’m not saying it’s not true, but it certainly doesn’t look clear cut. He may certain;y end up at Valencia, but something remains deeply suspicious about this whole thing.

Fuck it.
65 Posted 27/08/2007 at 13:34:24
Manuel Fernandes chose to snub Everton and join Valencia yesterday after losing patience over negotiations between the Premiership club and his sponsors.
The Daily Mail says the Portugal Under 21 midfielder had spent the past week training on Merseyside as Everton tried to iron out an agreement with the Premier League and Fernandes’ agents, Global Sports Agency, for his permanent transfer from Benfica.
However, it is understood Fernandes was concerned a deal had not been done and flew out of Liverpool after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn.
Valencia paid about £10million for Fernandes - who spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton - and will give him a six-year deal with a £28.5m buy-out clause.
66 Posted 27/08/2007 at 13:21:51
Hes been shit since last christmas and is a lazy fuck. Hes overweight too...
Second top goalscorer in premiership for the last four seasons, bla bla bla. If he’s so marvellous why havn’t United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and the red shite ever shown any interest in him???
Middlesborough admitted that he was virtually non existant for the second half of last season yet all us Evertonians have a real hard on for him.
Get real !!!
Look at Santa Cruz. Ex Bayern, class and always was, and only a fraction of the price and we do sweet fuck all. McCarthy who we were supposed to sign for god knows how long, 23 goals and now considered Chelsea standard...
I hope he doesnt get the permit...
