Manny... Something doesn't add up?
Comments (26)
having read the initial post late last night and being absolutely gutted going to bed I started thinking that the story really doesn't add?... maybe I'm just clinging on to hope too much, much like getting a No vote for kirby??
What strikes me as strange is the prices stated. As I read it Valencia have offered £10M for 50% of his rights yet we apparently have managed to gain 100% ownership for only an extra £2M??? In my mind that means we either have the greatest negotiators of any football club in BK & KW or Valencia have the worst??? Surely, if Valencia were coming in at the 11th hour, their offer would be only slightly in excess of what we've offered ? not approaching double? Add to that the apparent €60M buy-out clause mentioned and the figures begin to look stupid.
Manny was Kenwright's guest at weekend, personal terms have been agreed, I guess a contract signed subject to Premier League approval... players commenting on the new arrival and the man himself signing kids autographs in the EFC lounge ? making it look as if the deal is 99.9% done. So what has changed in the space of 12 hrs??? A story appears on Valencia's website is picked up by an independent site and is then spread across numerous other, including our official sites rumour mill section. These stories appear on a Bank Holiday Sunday evening when no-one is at work indicates that the stories have been propigated around the web via some clear web design code that pipes stories into a website via an automated fed, check out the text of each page... its the same word for word on a number of them, if not all.
So is manny going to sign??? Until he is in a blue shirt photographed next to Moyes and The Yak, we can't be sure. But I do still hold some hope (after the summer of rumours, lies, truths and half-truths that has been EFC) no-one actually knows what to believe anymore and has little or no confidence in our club's ability to act effectively on any front.
Could Valencia's website simply be a "test story that wasn't meant to be seen by the public"... anyone else remember a club crap enough to do something as stupid as that recently???

I hope you’re right James but the Valencia site has posted an interview which crudely translated to "I’m so happy to be here....when I heard Valencia were interested in me...." etc etc. And they’ve added him to their squad profiles.
So I’m sorry but my last shred of optimism has faded.
If it was test data I’m sure it would have been picked up by Valencia by now, I don’t know a lot about European bank holidays but I’m sure its not one out there!

He’s definitely signed for Valencia, SSN have reported it, and on the official valencia website, there’s an interview with him (which when translated says once he knew Valencia ’s interest was real, he only wanted to go there).
Don’t think this has got anything to do with the club, this one is down to the player. Either you want to play for us or you don’t! COYB!

Moyes had enough? Davie spotted sitting along side Spurs Daniel Levy and Utd Directors at the Spurs game, has he finally had enough ( the latest transfer fiasco) it beggars belief we can pursue a transfer for, was it 2 months and practially announse we have him in the bag. get the check book out and throw it away.

All due respect steve but getting any bit of info from the club just dosn’t happen.
Its like a secret society at everton and the two halfwits kenwright and wyness are grossly incompetent and will play cloak and dagger now.

Deal is done picture now on Valencia website of him and a shirt with his name on his back. Maybe the deal could never have been done we will never know, but I dont trust Wyness & Kenwright whatsoever. My wish now is a buyout of Kenwright to rid us of this liar and his cohort. We have 4 days to get a midfielder in now and even Vogel if he comes is only a squad player we need a star name in the 6-10million bracket

I couldn’t find a report on SSN, but the photo on the Valencia site says it all. Seems like waiting on the PL to verify the transfer fully have cost us... and that Spanish waiter Rafa has the gaul to complain about the delay in the RS signing their ropey Argentinian import!? This is a sad day, but then if this is Fernandes’ true colours... quite frankly, perhaps it’s a blessing that he isn’t here. What isn’t a blessing is that we’ve wasted over a week fannying around with this deal and now we’re still sorely lacking additional quality in the middle of the park.

Vogel by the way is Swiss. Switzerland as a neutral state is not an EC country so again a work permit would be required which would delay his debut.

Kevin Nolan would cost 6m we need to move quickly. He scores goals and is an attacking midfielder he would be worth a punt.

Just looked at the picture on the Valencia site, not good.
If we didn’t conduct our transfer business in the press, maybe the board wouldn’t make us look like twats!

Fernandes interview said he could not beleive how quick the deal was to go through with Valencia.I would like to point out to Manny that the deal was not quick and is the norm with transfers. Its just Everton that fuck about with 10 medicals and comments every day like another 24 hours. That went on for nearly 2 weeks!.I have a feeling that it was Everton that fucked up the transfer & they will be quick enough to blame the F.A.They dont even keep us up to date on there so called Official WEB/SLOWsite.There is only 4 days to go in the window and we need to move quick to sign a quality midfielder that can play and take some weight of Arteta. The problem is who and do we have enough time for are 10 day medicals? In Moyes i trust but Everton i dont.I realy beleive we have missed out on what would be one of the worlds best midfielders and would of made us a few quid in the long-run.Once again i think this is another Everton FC Fuck up

But the delay had nothing to do with a medical, and was entirely down to the PL’s dislike of third party ownership deals
And I can’t say I blame them. Agents have enough power without retaining part-ownership of players
