Other options!

Wow, sheer amazement! Everton are made to look like a bunch of fools in the transfer market. From Muller to Manny, the list is endless on deals that Everton have sensationally failed to conclude after tons of media hype.
So, I now think with just over 4 days to go, who could be avaiable. I know Van Der Vaart has made his intentions clear to leave Hamburg, now, his club may be unwilling to sell, but if Everton promise a QUICK deal with money up front then there is a hope we could get this young gifted midfielder who could play thru the middle or on the left. What does everyone else reckon, any other options?

Don't be surprised if Wee Davey now goes shopping at Celtic and comes back with an out of touch striker and a headless chicken.

Even more of a long-shot than Lucho or Riquelmé.

Now that we've missed out on Fernandes and with only a few days left before the transfer window closes, I suggest we bring in Graveson on a short term deal.
It looks like he's available and would certainly add some much needed creativity to the squad. Hopefully we can bring someone else in, in January.

There do seem to be few options but in fairness i’d never heard of Fernandes before he came to England, i’d never heard of Yobo before Moyesey signed him, i’d never heard of Kroldr...oh, err. So there may be a rabbit out of the hat anyway. I maintain we may well be surprised by Pienaar once he’s accustomed to the English game. If Van der Vaart were an option (which sadly i don’t think he is) then i’d welcome that with open arms. I have to say though, if we need a stop gap and it’s an option then we could do alot worse than Tommy G.

So Celtic have transfer listed a rubbish striker and we are linked with him. Great, we just lose the chance to sign a very good midfielder so let's sign a substandard striker who's crocked half the time! A sign that the board could be worried about Yakubu or just paper talk?

I wouldnt want either Gravesen or Van der Vaart. Tommy Grav is the past and we are trying to move forward. Van der Vaart just wouldnt fit into our team. Our style is to british for a player of hs type. He would just end up being put out wide and fail because of his lack of pace. Dont get me wrong he is a quality player but his attacking midfield role behind two strikers is not used alot in england. His position is probably close to Pienaar’s natural position but because Pienaar has pace he is able to play out wide no problem.

The sad git that I am - I watched the Celtic Reserve game at Aberdeen (they lost 3-0)and on the basis of that game and his time at Celtic, I wouldn’t want Graveson anywhere near Everton.
He was woeful at Everton until the 6 months before he moved to Madrid, woeful at Madrid - they couldn’t wait to ship him out and now it’s the same at Celtic. Graveson is not the answer short term or long term.
I must explain that for all of you who saw his magic tricks at Goodison, my view of them must have always been obscured by the concrete pillar in the Upper Bullens. For me, he is the perenial headless chicken.
I hope Moyes has a plan C (wasn’t Fernandes plan B after Lucho ?).

I should just add it was Setanta - I didn’t travel up to some obscure ground in Scotland to watch Tommy Grav !

Couldn?t agree with you more Allan!! Gravesen played one good game in ten the first time around ( & that?s being kind to him). I too watched that Celtic rezzies match and agree Gravesen was woeful. Has only gone backwards since he left, quickly found out for the fraud that he is, at both Madrid and Celtic. All those of you advocating his return...PLEASE BEHAVE !!

Two weeks ago, Rafael Van der Vaart (young, talented Dutch midfielder ? with a gorgeous wife) as captain of Hamburg asked Hamburg for a transfer to Valencia. He has two years left on his contract ? Club said "feck off". Captain fantastic suddenely pulls a muscle in his back (lifting his 1-yr-old son... yeah, right!) and was unavailable for their CL qualification fixture a day or so later. He got lots of slack from fans, press + club but was fit again by the weekend, scored a peno and pledged his future to Hamburg (yeah, right!).
He had stated that Hamburg wouldn’t let him be near his family, live his dream etc. Hamburg said "you’re our player, so play and shut up".
So what do Valencia do? went and grabbed another product called Fernandes! We are in big trouble in Europe if we don’t add now (sorry, you already know that...).
