Where did the magic pot of gold come from
Comments (18)
It seems magically in the middle of August a pot of around £20 million was found for new players.
There is various speculation abour where the money came from:
-
Our newish board member (Robert Earl)
-
A release of the television money.
BK won the lottery.
There is also speculation that David Moyes threatened to quit if we didn't reinforce the squad with some quality. Although option 1 seems to be the most widely believed option there are a number of factors against this.
-
He has been involved for over 12 months so why now and why 20 million?
-
Why wait until the middle of August when it would have been far more beneficial to get new players in for pre season?
-
Why was Moyes shopping in the bargain basement for so long (Vogel,Pienaar etc.) and looking for loan deals?
Option 2 does seem more plausible as I understand the TV money was only released recently but that wouldn't have stopped us lining things up on the strength of that money.
Given the unique nature of ToffeeWeb, someone with an Aunt who runs a hairdressers or whose cousin works at the bank must have some more information. I am intrigued as I am sure many others are.

Look, I’ve answered this 3 times now.
Bill Kenwright was on ’who wants to be a millionaire’ last weekend but it was pre-recorded. Now I didnt see the whole show but I can only suggest that he won the big prize, splashed it on the gee gee’s and came up trumps.
Obvious.

Its obvious, he’s been pimpin Pistone & Valente as escorts to rich gay sheiks & business women, they’ve had thier work cut out but they’ve done it!! Well Done fellas, now you can sit back down on them ice packs now ha ha!!
P.s - I heard Walter tried the same thing a few years back but the going rate for a night with Gemmill & Pembridge = £0.76p.

For those who didn’t see it (we did on the video) - he got to some number and got a question on who wrote a book on Nursing in 1860.
Now Famous Nurse = Florence Nightingale. Crimean War = 1854. 2+2 = answer has to be our Flo (not Tore Andre).
Bill and Jenny think it is Edith Carvell. Their friend who knows everything didn’t know but thinks it was Edith Carvell. The audience, as gullable as any, decide these clever people must be right and vote 63% for Carvell.
Bill and Jenny go for Carvell and lose all but the first £1000.
Now if you think I am going to make a link between 63% voting for something wrong and Bill being involved..........
Oh and I also heard we were waiting until the money was in the bank from the TV deal before we spent it, which is quite wise really.

So was Bk just waiting for the cheque to clear so to speak and when he went the bank for his mini-statement it said paid in Sky Sports £20 million....So he then gave it all to Moyes
He Could of gone to one of those money lending companies who lend money to you before you got paid...am sure there interest would have been low hahahhahah

Should be a good buy if we can load him up with the bullets!

Earl was only a shareholder until the last AGM when he was elected to the board. Maybe he now feels he should put something into the club rather than just sitting on Greggs shares which is no use to anyone except Bill.

My mates aunt has a twin sister who is a cleaner at a theatre in London where Joseph and The Techniolour Football Jersey is showing. She says the day before the bid was made for Yakubu all the takings from the theatre were robbed. A man resembling a former Coronation Street character wearing a black and white striped shirt a mask over his eyes and bag marked SWAG was seen leaving in a blue rolls royce just after it happened.

How about we always had the money. Moyes earmarked Yakuba and Fernandes early to BK on his want list and so that left him with pennies to sign other players. Not very excited I know (and possible to ordinary to happen at EFC if you beleive everything you read on Toffeeweb)

Personally I think the money came from Earl in the last few weeks because Moyes threatened to walk.
That’s simply why the Yak and Fernandez wasn’t even an option at the begining of the transfer window....

Absolutely no doubt. Moyes did not just threaten to walk, he took a few days off and had serious talks about his & club’s future financial situation. There are lots others ready to take him (with better cash)and he aint fully happy yet.!!!

Phillip Green is the source of our £25m pot of gold. Word is he has made available a £25m line of credit to be redeemed at a future date.
I do not believe it is a formal arrangement with EFC more a personal deal with his mate Blue Bill.
