Everton in Everton

Comments (13)

Throughout the current debate on moving grounds and weighing up the Kirby versus Goodison question the whole debate has become skewed. I am firmly in the camp of keeping Everton in Liverpool, but I want to see Everton return to Everton. As someone who lives in L5 I see so much space around that could be used.

The Tunnel Loop is a good suggestion, but my heart wants to see a stadium built on Everton Brow and the Dixie Dean playing fields (currently a disused park). This stadium would look over the city and provide a fantastic architectural statement as well as taking Everton back to its St Domingo roots.

Kevin,
I think it’s time to step away from the stadium debate/proposal thing. It will only give you a migraine.

Kirkby is what they voted for, lets see what happens.

We may well be seeing history repeating itself.. ie leaving Anfield and a new club forming. A few years down the line anyway, Us leaving Kirby for another ground in Everton and Kirby FC forming.. May be planned already..Seriously tho, If we move away, we will eventually come back, someday!

Kevin, I guess every Evertonian myself included and from Blue Bill down would dearly wish that your suggestion was ’deliverable’.
I could come up with similar ideas but without solid finance to back them up it is only wishful thinking.

dick, it would be wounderful if efc could give us the facts and figures for kirkby, as then we can judge for ourselves if it is deliverable. or is this just wishful thinking.

Where have you been?? The vote is over and has been won and lost.

As to a couple of points - The Dixie Dean playing fields are spoken for - a new academy is to be built on it.

Oh and Everton FC has NEVER been in Everton - always Anfield then Walton and soon to be Kirkby.

I have backed the move throughout ... yes there are load of sites within the city, the problem is we can’t afford them!

I see that KEIOC say they "hope that the result of the ballot does not preclude the club from considering other sites which lie much closer to our spiritual home." ...

I think it totally precludes Everton from looking at other sites... their ’mandate’ has been won on a carefully constructed barrage of PR that Keith Wyness has had months to dream up...KEIOC never stood a chance... there never was a plan B, never will be... because the club are not even prepared to look at one...this includes alternative businesses to help fund any project... there is ONLY Tesco! Terry Leahy is a special advisor to the board for gods sake so why look at other companies.

Everton are moving to wherever Tesco want them to move to...and that is final ! You should just be thankful that it isn’t Wigan !

Kevin, the Dixie Dean playing fields, are as we speak being made ready for a New school, to be built.

You could find ten sites in L4 and L5 and Kenwright and Wyness and their supporters would still want to go to Kirkby. They can alrady taste the brick dust as the Bullens Road stand falls.

I have some recollection that the club originated from a team in St Domingo Road which is in Everton.Kirkby looks as if it is the only option that we can finance without going into substantial debt which in my view is the most crucial factor in ensuring that we become a successful club again. Much as I would have liked to stay at GP,it is essential that we move the club forward and realistically there is nothing else on the table.

quote from the liverpool echo when speaking about the way both clubs have handled the absolutley sickening tragedy that has befallen little bluenose Rhys Jones.
"Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs are two halves of the same city,
a city united in a common shock this past eight days."
As we have in the past & would again in the future, except we wont be part of Liverpool will we?

Rest In Peace little bluenose hope the lads are looking after you up there.

Peter Fearon:.....Peter,I voted yes to the club negotiating further with Knowsley&Tesco purely because the financial package was so attractive. We are a club with limited finances and as such we are limited to where we can shop.Shopping at Tesco is a fantastic opportunity to get something within our budget.I agree with you wholeheartedly that ten sites could probably be found in L4 or L5,the only problem would be finding the finances to first buy the site and then develope it.
We,ve been crying out for years for some kind of financial backer to allow us to grow. Now that one has turned up we have to take advantage of the situation.
