Deadline Day Deals???

Comments (25)

I notice on EVERTONFC.COM an official comment by David Moyes that he is still trying to bring in " maybe one more" before the deadline so it looks as though there is still a strong possibility that some negotations for another player are at a crucial stage. Any cab drivers or airline stewards noticed any unusual passengers...???

It really must be silly season but at the bottom of this page Raul is signing 'FACT': http://www.football-rumours.com/ Raul is going to be our new number 9 - I hate the transfer window. Oh by the way, I don't believe this but thought I would share it!

Now thoroughly looking forward to another foray into the Uefa Cup, I've just seen Wyness having a chat with our old friend Alan Myers.

Wyness refused to give anything away about where this new money has come from, just citing it has been a "late transfer window" for us. Surely it would be easier for the man to tell us we have received investment? He might not realise it, but a lot of people are on his back after these predicted losses to be mentioned at the AGM. Giving them good news for once might actually help his "character"!

Also on transfers, he kept quiet as usual simply stating we are linked to many players and wouldn't name names. Even when Myers brought up Appiah and Riquelme he simply smiled and said they will be working until 12. Suppose it keeps his head above the water, he can't be blamed for misleading fans if he says anything that isn't true?

Well it still all makes for an exciting last day of August. The things us Evertonians go through for our club ;)

They had an ?expert? on Sky Sports News earlier, and he said most clubs? dealings are done for this window, but they are keeping a close eye on Everton.

He stated Appiah and that Argentine fella, and even the possibilty of both has been flouted amongst various sources.

All I can say is that i am more than happy with our dealings of late, and i?m looking forward to a fine season ahead.

With Mad Dog and the Yak, and with Tiny still to feature and AJ yet to hit the goal trail I think we can sit back and look forward to a season without having to worry about bringing on Naysmith when we?re 1-0 up, or starting with Dickie Wright between the posts.

Come on you Blues!

Not that this means much, but the main thing ruling Riquelme out so far has been the belief that he is imminently going to Atletico Madrid. Well they?ve just signed a creative midfielder in the shape of Motta from Barcelona

Means nothing in isolation, but in the absence of anything else tangible and because I’m piss bored at work I thought I’d pass it on.

I’m not so keen on the Argentine but I would love Appiah at the club, he is alot younger than Riquelme and is already more suited to our league.

Ignore my post above it was yesterdays news, as I’ve been on the forums today in spain and all the talk is about him flying over to Liverpool. So I’m not sure who he’s going too... fingers crossed!!!

Sod it if he’s injured, sign him anyway. We did that with Van De Meyde and look what a great signing he turned out to be!!

I just want this day to be over, so sick of the transfer window not. All these rumours get us excited, a couple come true, most don’t. I just want us to get on with the season knowing who our team is. That said, please sign Riquelme or/and Appiah!! =)

Looks like Atletico Madrid have lost out with Riquelme.

They can have no more than 4 players from outside the EU in their side, but adding Riquelme would mean they had 5.
Unless they can shift one player, then they have more or less given up the chase.

oh well the deadline for international transfers has passed [5pm]. No riquelme, No Appiah...

No signings at all, was pretty damn predictable really.

typical really, i don’t think we are getting any more signings in all honesty, but IF we do it will be some bit part, average squad player.

JJR on Merseyside, ......yeah right!

I wouldent dismiss Kevin nolan just yet he seems more likely than the crocked appiah, or the argie geezer touted about, id be happy with nolan hes a little more attacking and likes to buzz around the box scores the odd goal or two as well anyone with me on that??

Any bets, that we will get another average squad player in on loan?

Where does it say that the deadline for international transfers is 5pm? I thought we had until midnight to finalise things.

Anyway, let’s just see if something comes off by the end of the night and if it doesn’t, so be it. We still have a pretty strong squad and Moyesie has more options than he did last year so things are looking up.

I know its useless daydreaming, but if it had to be one or the other I’d prefer Appiah too. Age, propensity for sulking and distance toys can be jettisoned from pram going against Riquey.

Though I’d be a liar if I pretended I’d be anything other than blown away by either!!!

Six hours to go...

As an aside to while away the hours, does anyone else agree that Hibbert should be phased out pronto?
From where I sit, he’s constantly playing at capacity and satisfying in a work ethic capacity, the problem for me is that his 100% is still shit. I almost feel sorry for him. He constantly looks like a fish out of water, and I’m fed up with sides concentrating down their left side because they smell blood against him. I watched us draw with Millwall away a couple of season ago, and even everything they did went down their left.

I’m fed up with his poo-his-pants on the ball antics, panicking and passing in field to the opposition. Not to be harsh, I really want to like him. He’s blue through-and-through and always gives 100%. My issue is sadly that I think he’s just, straight up, poo.

A friend just text me and said it’s been on Sky Sports news 405 saying Riquelme is on his way to Goodison this minute, another mate who works at John Lennon said he was being mobbed at the airport.
Don’t know what to believe.
