It Sure Beats Last Week!

Following on from one of the most traumatic weeks I have ever known as far as football is concerned these past few days have been just what the doctor ordered. Putting the Yes to Kirkby move and the Fernandes Fiasco behind me was very hard but the signing of Yakubu and Tommy G with promises of more to come has blown away the suicidal tendancies for the time being.

Gravesen will be back to his old self once he runs out at Goodison and realises he has come home to the best club in the land. Don't believe the shite coming out of Scotland. My mate who is from Glasgow and a big Celtic supporter reckons Tommy and the Angry Ant Strachan had a big bust-up on the training ground and that was that for Tommy Boy. Real Madrid don't sign deadbeats so judge him on that.

As for this Uefa Cup draw. What a downer it is going to the Ukaraine. Apart from the 7-hour flight the whole country is lit by one 60 watt bulb and it will be colder than a witches tit when we play there. No need to pack a cozzy on this one lads.

Why couldn't we have got the plum draw in Cyprus? That would have been some trip away for the boys to enjoy. There's still plenty going on in Ayia Napa and Larnaca in October and it's still well into the mid-80s. Lucky bastards those Spurs fans.

Anyone thinking of going over to the game in Ukaraine will be well advised not to travel on the day of the match, leaving yourself with just hours to spare. Go the day before because if there are any delays or fuck-ups at the airport [Romania EFC-style] you will definetly miss the game.

As for the Yakubu deal, I really hope Moyes doesn't use him as a target for the airbombs. Let him and AJ loose on Bolton and all the other teams we play from now on. With Arteta and Tommy threading in the killer passes, who knows what we can achieve. Please, no more long-ball shite.

Tony Marsh... positive and upbeat! (This is Tony's subtle way of avoiding any admittance that he was dead wrong about the Yakubu transfer... we haven't forgotten how stupid and gulible we were, Tony! Or was that you believing your own parnoid hype?)

Good to see that you think things are looking up Tony.

Hopefully there may be some good news before midnight tonight as well. Although I doubt it, but I’m pretty happy with our lot at the moment.

Wyness has just been on SSN and was asked about Riquelme, he said his phone was switched in and we’d see what develops between now and midnight....ooooh......he also said we’d been linked with loads of players but was a little coy to say the least....I think we’re going to sign Riquelme, chubby was smiling....or maybe he’d just smelt dinner...

I haven’t watched any Riquelme videos on youtube yet. How’s that for restraint.

Maybe you can do it at Juan’s press conference?

Wouldn’t it be great if he played for us and we battered Villareal with him pulling the strings! Revenge would be sweet

On a football related thought:

I’m glad that Grav and Cars will get the chance to play for us in europe after they did so much to get us there last time and both missed out.

There seems to be a bit of a lull on all the news sites, is this the calm before the storm?

Totally agree with you Tony about Graveson. If he can get close to his form of two and a half years ago he will be a tremendous asset. I have to take my hat off to Moyes with this one. He obviously doesn?t agree with the nonsense heads and knows he has a bargain.

It's probably the calm because theres no storm! Looks like I'll be heading to the Ukraine. Can't wait, glad we got that really cos I've never been there! -20 degrees wont feel that cold, I'm sure! :)

STOP PRESS! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE GOT HIM!

I have it on good authority that Riquelme has been signed on a year loan. We then get first refusal thereafter with an option to pay in 50p installments spread over 10 million years. Apparently the clincher for our new Argie schemer was the proposed move to a state-of-the-art stadium in Kirkby.

Sorry, just couldn?t resist posting that!

Just heard via grapevine that Riquelme has failed medical at 7pm and that Kevin Nolan is now undergoing final stages for transfer by midnight.

[Please... enough now — Ed]

Graveson, Jakielka, Yakubu are all good positive influences into our side. They are crafted footy players, comfortable with the balland pass to feet. I sense that we will see an improvement in the quality of football. Biggest question mark for me is what Pienaar can do.
If he rediscovers his Ajax form that would be the icing on the cake.

Bloody Hell, Tony. A positive post that actually cheered me up! Even allowing for the lack of a ?sunny? UEFA Cup draw, Tommy G and Yak is enough to make anyone smile. Shame we haven?t managed the big midfield signing (so far), but even nearly 2 years older, Tommy could still do it for us. I?ll be having a punt on 1-0 Yak tomorrow, we?re due a clean sheet especially if Moyes picks the blindingly obvious back four of Neville, Yobo, Lescott and Baines. ?Not many better back fours in the Prem? was the quote from my (unusually knowledgable) Man U mate earlier today!

Who are you and what have youu done with Tony Marsh?

If you have kidnapped him and have him tied up in a basement don’t ask for a ransom for him or I’ll ask Dutch to start the bidding.

This is the sort of Tony Marsh post we normally get from Cyprus! Have you had a few days away?
