The Mail Bag
A question of girth

I had to smile when I saw Yakubu emerge from the Reebok tunnel. He must be at least a stone over his given weight of 13st 4lb! Reminded me of the state Beattie was in when he arrived.
One consolation is that Moyes has no time for lard-arses so he`ll soon run it off him in training. At least then our record signing will be able to do all that running back the manager demands and won't be spending all his time hanging around the penalty spot for AJ to give him tap-ins!

Never mind one scored with basically his first touch in a shirt, and didnt look overweight when he was racing to keep up with johnson.
And the other whilst lacking confidence in front of goal still has the ability to influence the result.

Weve already ruined one 20 goal a season striker in AJ, making him chase Neville and Hibberts shite ’balls’ for 90 minutes! I feel sorry for AJ and just once id love him to turn round to Neville and tell him to fuck off instead of giving him the thumbs up like it was a decent pass!
For the first time in ages AJ had a pass were he wants it from Grav, straight down the middle either side or between the centre half and running at goal...not chasing a hoof into the corner flag! His confidence will return and then when he being slid in in the right position he will be up amongst the leading goalscorers again.

it was his run on saturday which gave yak the easy tap in and he also did the same against wigan giving anichebe the easy tap in.
give the guy a break and he?ll supply every man on the team with a bag full of tap ins by the end of the season.

Yak is fast anyway. His size doesnt affect him whereas Beattie’s did.

your spot on mate, i could’nt really care how big he looks he’s there to score and score only, i don’t care if he looks lazy, as long as he’s in the box when the balls getting played there and he finishes them off thats all that matters, how many times has johnson broke through only to find himself all alone up front with no support, well he’ll have support now with yakubu and i’ll bet my bottom dollar that johnson and yakubu both score bagfuls of goals.

Look at the size of his arms for christs sake.
Some people called Cantona fat when he joined United.
The club did a body fat % test and Cantona came out at 8%, the lowest at the club, even lower than Giggs.
(My mate made me watch a United DVD after he beat me at Fifa years ago as a bet).
Yakubu has always been that size, even at Maccabi Haifa where his goal-scoring records was exceptional, Portsmouth and Boro also got a great return from him despite his ’Girt’ as you put it.
I don’t give a toss if our players look like Rik Waller as long as they do the business.

One thing bothers me though - if the Yak scored boatfuls at Maccabi Haifa, Portsmouth and Middlesborough, just exactly how old was he and how long did he play at Maccabi??? He’s been here about 5 years now, and is supposed to be 24, yet he looks a bit older than that to me.
I would guess on him being about 29 - shades of Bakayoko ???
What does anyone else think??
