Optimism

Coming into a season — any season — under Moyes, you feel you can always count on a few clean sheets to steal a result or two. Especially considering we don't always score freely.

At the moment, we're tied for top spot, on course for a 76 point season, and we've done it without a clean sheet (this week would be a great time to break the duck), or even a dominant defensive performance.

Don't get me wrong — we haven't been torn apart at all. But usually, when you speak of Everton, you typically think of 1-0 results.

The encouraging thing here, is that we:

Reading aside) seem to be able to put the ball away, without AJ being prolific & with no Cahill.
haven't had our consensus 'best back 4' of Neville, Yobo, Lescott & Baines play together more than about 40 minutes of the season.

My feeling is, we're not too far away from getting it right. And once we do...

definatley agree, cant see anything in united that should scare us, apart from scholesy they look mediocre at best, for the first time since i can remember I truly think we have the better team, fletcher, oshea, eagles, brown laughable, nani, anderson and tevez, lightweights who are just not clicking and god knows what rio is thinking about at the moment, it aint football I can tell u that. I want to see everton really go for the mancs throats this sat, we should have done them over back end of last season then the nerves and reality kicked in, this time we have a better and more experienced team with belief, lets get behind them and get goodison rocking, lets make the old lady,s last years something to remember and send old red face fergie back down the road with his tail between his legs!!!

I think we need to be positive and set ourselves up to be attack minded from the start against Utd. They are a team that badly needs to stamp its authority with an emphatic win right now. The two week break may give them the time to compose themselves and get their heads right. But certainly we have the squad, the opportunity and the mindset right now to get a very good result against them.

Spot on! A very good keeper, a solid(ish) back four, one of the best midfields in the Premiership and now the Yak and AJ up front. Plus a bench that like DM said can change a game if needs be. Happy happy days and bring on Man Ure. Lets give old whisky nose and his boys a beating!!! Come on Boys>
