I see Andy Van Der Meyde is in the team for the reserves game tonight. Does anyone know if he has been given another chance? Or has he been left to rot in the reserves?

I don’t think anyone can bully him into working anymore. If he does well in the reserves, he might get into the first team, if not then he’ll remain there until we can offload him.

I think Andy van der Meyde has been given another chance for which Im glad, I know Ill probably get shot down for saying this but I still believe he can turn his career around at Goodison

Agreed, he’s a class player but a troubled individual; on a human level he deserves another crack. Poor blokes had a tough time what with one thing and another - being a piss-head hasnt helped, but he’s obviously under alot of pressure and his heads not right. He cant be blamed for that though so good luck to him.

Its a bit of a catch 22 for Andy.
I’m sure if he was in the 1st team he would behave and prove himself. However, he wont get in the 1st team untill...

Not bothered about him anymore. For a long time i could not wait to see him in the team.
Now he is about our 10th choice midfielder. Let him play for the reserves and get rid as soon as humanly possible (January!)

why are we even bothering talking about this complete waste of space, the sooner is he is of the wage bill the better, has he played a good game for us because i cannot recall, why dont we loan him the Sunday pub team as he can buy the ale for the lads after the match

Shandy Andy, didn’t he have 6 rolex’s nicked when he was robbed?? Who in their right mind would want to own 6 rolex’s?? Oh, here we go again, I’m talking about his off-field antics, as opposed to his on-field contribution, which is non-existent. Oh, I take that back, he once crossed for James Beattie to score the winning goal. Against who I ask? Answers on a postcard....

I sat a couple of rows behind him at the Blackburn game said hi to him at the end of the game on our way out he looked smart, in a suit, but also looked far fitter and slimmer than I have seen him since he has been here! He also looked in good spirtis despite the fact he had been suspended for that week. I do think he likes it here at Goodison but to be fair most people would love 30K a week to do nothing but hey. I would love to see him turn it around I just think that he has pissed off Moyes once too often and to be fair if I was in his position I probably would not bother giving him another go! Shame as he WAS a MASSIVE tallent!

it sickens me to think VDM earns 30k a week and Duncan McKenzie now throws left over sandwiches to the crowd at half time from a hospitality box and had to run a greengrocers when he retired

As much as I love David Moyes (I honestly think he has to rank as one of our finest managers considering what has done with so few resources-especially up to 2 years ago) I think AVDM is an emotional player and one who needs to be encouraged, to an extent I think David’s lack of opportunities offered to Andy in the first time has hindered his development in a blue shirt.
