Tim Cahill

I have just read an article on the Daily Mirror Website regarding Tim Cahill being arrested following an alleged "serious sexual assault". I am sure it's a load of bollocks but can anyone shed any light on this?

Socceroos star Tim Cahill was questioned by British police after a woman lodged a complaint about him, according to newspaper reports.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who plays for English Premier League club Everton, was not charged by police and released after the woman withdrew her complaint, the Daily Mirror reported.

Cahill, who is married with three young children, was believed to have heavily protested his innocence to police, the newspaper said. Club officials today refused to talk about the matter.

But an unnamed Everton source told the Mirror the club was stunned to learn he had been quizzed by police.

"It was a shock to hear what had gone on," the source said. "No one could believe it. Tim’s a great bloke and is warmly liked."

Police refused to confirm Cahill had been questioned, saying only that they had questioned a 27-year-old man and released him without charge after the alleged victim withdrew her complaint.

Everton spokesman Ian Ross refused to comment. "We are saying absolutely nothing," he said.

"Tim Cahill has not been charged by anyone, he has not been charged by police so there’s nothing to comment on."

Cahill has missed the start of this year’s Premiership after injuring his foot during a pre-season friendly match.

He is expected to miss joining the Socceroos in their friendly match against Argentina at the MCG on September 11.

Earlier this year Cahill’s brother Sean was extradited from Sydney to Britain to face court over an assault that left a man blinded in one eye.

Sean Cahill, 28, left the UK just weeks before he was to face trial for his alleged involvement in a taxi rank brawl at Bromley, Kent, on July 11, 2004.

It seems a little ridiculous that someone can accuse any celebrity of something (which inevitably ends up being reported) and then when it turns out to be complete nonsense they just walk away. "Withdrew her complaint" ... isn’t there some kind of process for dealing with filing false complaints? Scumbags.

Withdrawing a complaint does not mean that a person has made a false complaint. Anyone making a claim against another person for any reason, holds the right to withdraw that complaint for any reason they see fit at any time. If during an investigation, the police find evidence that said person has indeed committed an offence, they may then press their own charges whether the person making the complaint withdraws theirs or not.

Tim Cahill has clearly not done anything wrong by the way.

Most complaints of these sort against footballers have that C*** Max Clifford attatched.
Not on this one, but many others... he’s a sod he is, just thought I’d share that with you.

I’m staying out of the Kirkby threads, they make my head hurt.

I also have to be careful whats I post, as I promised not to ’chew the cud’ with people. I’m sworn to only really talk about Everton so here goes....

I read in the Metro yesterday an anonymous text from someone on the letters page which went something like this: "Everton to have the Premier League sewn up by Christmas" Anon

I didnt send it, honest.

"Cahill, whose mum is Samoan, has been a huge favourite with fans since joining the Merseyside club from Millwall in 2004".
Can anyone tell me what the fuck the fact that his mum is Samoan got to do with anything?

But where is his dad from. Sloppy journalism surely as that is what the punters need to know... about as much as where his mum is from!

Sadly, anybody charged with any offence is publicly named straight away. The media seize on anything to do with sexual assault and publish it regardless. That goes for little local papers who normally report on Car Parking disputes or Cats stuck up trees as well as your gutter tabloids.

Of course, when the accused is later cleared, the case dropped or, as happened here, the accuser just drops it, the damage is already done.

I know somebody who was falsely accused of rape who had his address etc published and the case was eventually thrown out as the woman’s evidence was full of inconsistencies and it was evident she had made the whole thing up. Unfortunately, some mud always sticks and he felt it necessary to move out of his home and to another part of the country to escape the sad gossips.

I don’t think any details should ever be made public until a conviction has been made. Tim, you have my extreme sympathies. Even if your wife believes you, part of her will always wonder and if you are innocent, that is not right.

Suspect that the’ his Mother is from Samoa’ is some sort of subtle way of saying ’he is not pure, white Anglo Saxon’ implying that this for some unkown reason is why he is involved and maybe it is true. Quite frankly, the person who wrote that shit on the end of that article should be sacked, but sadly his Editor probably can’t see anything wrong in it.

I’m sure Tim can’t wait to start playing again and put this bollocks behind him.

Terrible that he’s been accused of something like that - although its common knowledge down Allerton Road that there’s half a dozen young things that aint complaining about the size of the little samoan’s sausage
