Massive week of football...

Comments (13)

When we return to Premier League football next week I feel the three games facing us are massive: Man Utd(h), Kharkiv(h) and Villa(a).

If we can win all three games, and I know it's a big 'if', it will stand us in good stead for the remainder of the season. Man Utd have not had the best of starts and we're more than capable of turning them over; if they play like they did against Sunderland I fully expect this to happen.

Kharkiv will be a tough game regardless of the fact no-one has heard of them and a big win at home is essential because I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be an extremely tough away tie.

Finally the Villa game; they too have European ambitions and what better way to send out a message that we mean business than by beating another one of our rivals on their own turf?

Yes there will be important games ahead of these three but I just feel that if we win these three then the confidence will be there to go into further games knowing that we are more than capable of turning any team over.

Agree with you Andy, that Man U are there for the taking. My only worry would be that Ronaldo and Rooney are available for the game.

Simply solution if rooney (gobshite) plays walk on his injured foot which would be miracle if healed in time.

Given the resources Everton can now draw upon and Man Utd’s less than impressive start this is a very winnable game. Of course, it all depends on whether Moyes sends out a side at home to make this happen rather than revert to a war of attrition. The same line up as last but with Neville at RB, Jags in for Carsley and Gravesen in from the start would signify a real intent to win this game. Were not going to have to wait long to see what Moyes will do - Saturday can’t come soon enough

Poor old Moyesie?s damned if he does, damned if he don?t... If we play hard to beat, the crowd will moan about lack of ambition, so do we throw caution to the wind and try to play them off the park? Sunderland did the former, and it worked. Sadly, I think it?s the way to play them. Tommy and Mikel should batter their midfield, and control the game. Arteta needs a MASSIVE game, hope he doesn?t go missing cos I reckon he, along with the fullbacks, will be the match winners, and Mad Dog is the perfect foil for him.
Mad Dog is also the perfect player to wind up that runt Rooney, should he be fit.

I agree about the importance of the next few games its a hectic schedule for the size of our squad. I just feel we are due a good result in both the Man U and European game ? on the last occasions I felt we were unlucky in both the United and Euro games.

I think you utd are there for the taking maybe just the 1-0 kharkiv will be a real test as the blues will have some nerves after our previous campaign in europe if goodisons rocking then we could take a 2 goal lead into ukraine my only concern is the pace of the game the ukranians play at a high tempo with slick passing so our boys will have ti impose themselves phisicaly as for villa i notice someone said a draw and i would take that happily lescott will have to put agbonlahor in his pocket if we are to achieve this though.

If we can beat the evil mancs it will be as much a victory off the field considering the shit that has spewed from the pages of rooney’s book about Mr. Moyes. But I, like many worry that Shrek and ronaldo will feature. Manchester United is the big hurdle this week, I suspect we could field our reserve team and still comfortably win against the ukranians (or were ever their from)in midweek. Villa will have false optimism running thru their veins (post chelsea) so a repeat of our 1-1 at VP last season would suit me just fine.

Theres no doubt at all that Man United are there for the absoloute taking but its all about how WE perform on the day..We must perform to the highest standards and keep the bar raised because without meaning to sound a doom bringer Uniteds record at Goodison over the last 15 years is phenomenal and its almost as though Goodison Park has become their second home..But hey things change..We should have beaten them here last season until we threw it all away..Some people may suggest there is never a good time to play a great side but this is as good a time we can get United as any in my view..A win against United would really make teams sit up and take notice of us and would be a mega psychological boost especialty having already dispatched Spurs on their own ground with relative ease..I do think we will beat Kharkiv but it wont be as easy as people think as they will no doubt put everyone behind the ball and thats when we often struggle to break teams.Hopefully a clean sheet with be gleaned from that game because we really do need one soon and in all honesty I do expect United to score at Everton on Saturday but they will be open and that will give us chances..Villa Park is another notorious bogey ground for us but its another game I’d fancy at least a draw in..I would probably take a draw too..If we can keep up a good performance standard in these games there is no need to feel fearful.

Ronaldo was banned for 3 games for violent conduct.
He has only sat out of the Sunderland game so far meaning that he is not available to face us.

Hey everyone, just read Anthony’s comment on the ronaldo situation (not available to play against us) but I thought I read in the liverpool echo article on Tim’s hand that ronaldo IS available...
If anyone has anything about this it would be much appreciated. It would make my day to know he was unavailable.
Ps aparently shrek is targeting a place on the united bench for saturday.
