Cops... Over-reaction?

Comments (41)

So we are having to play Man Utd at the ridiculous mid-day kick-off because the police are still smarting over the "Battle of Everton Valley" two years ago.

Last season's game was at a sensible time: no violence. Last season was not Rooney's first return. Last season was not a crucial FA Cup Match.

Isn't this all getting just a little bit ridiculous?

Perhaps the cops would rather have an easy life and inconvenience 40,000 people than worry about having to keep a small minority of boozed up brain doners in check.

What you mean its not on TV?
Surely it has to be!

Its crazy to change the time so dramatically especially if the games not on T.V. Lets face it anyway the so-called scum who go the match just to cause trouble are hardly going to be deterred by an early kick off are they?. The match will finish at 2pm anyway..Personally the scum who do latch on to our club and Uniteds for that matter just for violence need to grow up..Why feel the need to attack someone because they support a different team?.Lunacy.. I thought the game was on Sky so I was very suprised to find out it was not on even Setanta..But maybe we can catch United sleeping. You think???

In view of the extortionate amount of money Merseyside Police charge clubs to do their job....policing the neighbourhood that already pays for that service in it’s rates....maybe the police should listen to the club and allow us to play at 15.00 hrs on a Saturday. He who pays the piper etc. It’s the same with cup replays. A replay used to take place on the following Tues/Wed evening after the drawn match when we used to have up to 60000 people attending. Now "on police" advice games can’t take place for two weeks. Muppets.

So you guys think you have problems with a UK mid day kick off.

We’ve got it on TV here in Mexico but our time is six hours behind you so that makes it a six in the morning kick off.

Matchsticks anybody ?

It is frustrating that the game is being played so early considering the league game following The Battle of Everton Valley against the mancs in April 2005 was a televised evening affair.
In terms of the violence that shrouded the game in Febraury 2005 I would like to say Manchester United FC should shoulder a portion of the blame. While the violence should not be excused I feel Rooney, the catalyst for the vioence, has not conducted himself at all well in the last several visits to Goodison. Football fans in general are a passionate bunch and when Rooney incites the Goodison crowd as he tends to do (celebrating uninhibited in front of home stands etc)he must be aware that his actions are only increasing the likelihood of hooligan violence.
He and his club need to take some responsibility.

I’ve got it worse than you mate, I’ve got an 8 hour difference, so 4:00 AM it is for me.

Totally agree with Neil. Wayne "I’m just an ugly, fat, scruffy, trampy, money-grabbing, traitor bastard with horrible teeth who let every single Evertonian down" Rooney is at blame for most of the crowd trouble, match kick-off times etc. thanks to him enciting our fans at every single opportunity.

I for one wanted to run on the pitch last year and break both the ugly cunt’s legs for the way he was taking the piss and winding us all up.

I would love nothing more than one of our players finishing his career on Saturday. The horrible bastard.

David and Glen, You think you’ve got it bad, I live in Norfolk and will be getting my 2 kids up at 4:30am so that I can drive for 5 1/2 hours across to Goodison for a 12 o’clock kick off!

I’m knackered just thinking of it. At least I’ll be back home in time for tea though.

Over here in India it’s live on sky’s sister channel, Star Sports. And at the more appropriate time of 16.30.

... and I couldn’t agree more regarding Judas.

It was listed for setanta Ireland that they where showing it as a 3pm Sat kick off, But since it got moved to 12 it clashes with New Zealand V portugal in the rugby so they dropped the Everton game!!

I’ve said this before and people didnt wanna do it cos some bloke said his anti virus software didnt like it, but I’ve been using sopcast for 18 months with no problems. Download that and another app called tvants and you can watch any gmae you like for free.

Get a login to the freefootball.org forum as well and look in the moderators signatures for a full list of games for every weekend. Voila! free footy/cricket/any sport you like basically.

A bit harsh there Mr. Nelson. I’d settle for Rooney’s agent [I’ve forgotten the twat’s name now] getting arse cancer. Or something equally painful.
Has anyone seen our record against United since the inception of the Premier League? We beat them 3-0 at their place in 92-93 and since then it’s been horrific. Something like: P50 W2 D2 L46 F5 A755!!

19   Posted 13/09/2007 at 17:33:13

Paul,
Stop exaggerating !!!!!!!!!! We’ve scored 7 against them.

Anyone know if the game is on in Turkey - off there tomorrow. 200 Lambert and Butler to the first correct reply.

Allan, thanks for posting the thing about SopCast. It is really good. Loads of live sport on channels from around the world.

Its quite a small program and you need decent internet speed. No problems with anti-virus either (Kaspersky).

I’ll probably use it for American sports more than anything.

I recommend this!

Kieth all games are shown there.
Just find the obligitory psuedo irish bar, usually with an aussie serving.
Tell him to fuck off you’re a paying customer ! So get that cricket/rugby off now !
Hey presto the match.

Dear Mr. Hobbs,

referring to your ’toys out of the pram’ comment... I have currently got two prams at home, of which I use to carry my two young children about in, who on reading your offerings to this forum have obviously at their young age, got a far greater brain capacity than you my silly friend !!

Also you must be a secret redsihte, as only they make such ludricous statments.

First if the scum behaved themselves we would not have this stupid kick off time I just hope the bastards and lets not forget the idiots posting it on you tube made it even more public but I agree the police are paid to stop trouble not inconvenience genuine fans

According to the (usually unrelaibele) UBC magazine here in Thailand the Everton vs. United game is on live and they receive their feed from Sentata these days.

Mind you it does have kick off at 12:45 (UK time) so I’m hoping they got the timing wrong and not the match otherwise I’m sure it’ll be the RS game on. At least the missus will be happy.

Down here in Aussie the game is on live at 9pm Sat. night-primetime.I’ll be on the couch with plenty of beer. Blues to win 3-0.

Even better if you live in Western Australia because it’s on live at 7PM.

By November I won’t be so chirpy as a 3PM kick off will mean midnight until 0150 here....

It?s all a conspiracy to stop KEOIC making another video to show Kirkby residents.

Another example of the underhanded methods the board uses to thwart the plans of true Evertonians.

Good news for Thailand Blues, the UBC website confirms the 12 o’clock kick off time in UK (6 pm here) with the other lot being shown at 6:45.

So as the pub we go to has 2 screens me AND the missus can watch our teams.

Dont you think it says something about the mentality of adults though when they have to fight the opposition fans because of Rooney?. For fucks sake forget about him..If anything the sale of Rooney was the re-making of Everton Football Club..When he was here the club was absoloutly skint and everything evolved around one player..Look at the shite we had around him?. We would have still been in that position now and the sale really lifted a huge weight off the club, lets be honest if we hadnt sold him when we did we would still have been hearing every summer about will he wont he go and never ending rumours..We now have a team of players not just one entertaining who was shining in a shit team basically..If people cant grow up and get over it now then its maybe them with the real problems

Totally agree Ray! Fuck Rooney hes the best thing to have ever happened to this club. If Morons could learn to handle their Ale then we wouldnt be in this predicament. Then again Manure fans are just that... Shit. Think they are so special. Half the bastards don?t even know where Manchester is!!!!!!

Dear Mark Stone and Keith Harrison,

The response to Mr. Hobbs was regarding a previous remark that he made to a post which I put on last week. I would only expect you to understand any discussions that concern yourselves.... Also the response was tongue and cheek, as if I thought he really was a red then he would be living in Norway. Your sense of humors are in the post.....

Erm,so let’s get this straight. We had a late/mid noon kick off, that would have circumnavigated Liverpools kick off? Now we have a potentially volatile match (as if) that will now coincide with a Liverpool away match, meaning more Reds in the pub cos it’s not at Anfield with a bigger axe to grind than us. Our game with the scum of Manchester finishes as they hit half time, so they’ve potentially got a nice window of opportunity to ambush Man U coaches, let alone our fans. Oh, double trouble! Especially if Blues with Red mates start pressing flesh on digits to let them know the Red Devils are passing through, so let’s have some of them! Just a thought!

In effect, cos they are smarting from "Everton Valley", they are creating the best possible conditions for Everton Valley2! Oh sorry, we’ll be so smacked out from the previous nights shannanigans that we’ll just hug our way through the afternoon.

This just reaffirms how detached the police force is from reality.
