Cars 4 Everton ? Graham Sharp

Comments (23)

Has anyone else received telephone calls from the above company on 01606 336300? When you ring the number back it is a message from Graham Sharp followed by the Z-Cars theme, I have just spoken to somebody from the company after holding for 10 minutes.

Apparently they are holding a 'Free Prize Draw' during the Man Utd game and are sponsors of Everton. Much as I like supporting fellow Evertonion business men I do like the fact that Everton have given both my home number and mobile number to a third party, probably a genuine company but who knows?

I asked to be removed from their data base, but they said I would continue to get calls unless Everton removed my details from their list of members.

I suspect under data protection act laws they can?t keep your details if you ask them to remove them. Not 100% sure but I?m sure someone with legal knowledge could provide accurate information.

Hi Stan

I’m a Direct Marketer and I’m afraid they’re right. There will be a disclaimer somewhere on a form you’ve filled out saying that Everton will ’share your details with selected third party suppliers’. It has a cash value to the club so I guess they’re maximising the revenue from the asset that is the club’s database.

It’s a fairly common practise with business partners. I’m actually glad to see them doing it as it finally shows a modicum of comemrcial nous at the club.

Just write to the ’Data Protection Office’ at the club, including your full address, and they have to stop mailing you and can’t share your details

Stan, Had a phone call from that
company, 10 days ago, they just
wanted confirmation of D.O.B. and
first line of address.
And that I would be placed in a draw, Did not have to return any call.

I had an answer phone from Mr Sharp, giving a ’great’ finance offer on a new car.
Nuts to ’em.

01606 is a Northwich number isn’t it?

Sounds dodgy to me.

Thanks Richard
I too agree that Everton should be more commercial, however the man from this company said that Everton had given the list of members as they were sponsors, not sold them, which doesn’t appear to be good business practice.
I haven’t had a season ticket for 5 years, so they rang my parents house, left a garbled message about cars and Everton, asking me to ring back.
When I returned the call, hearing Graham Sharp, then Z Cars, is tacky and I strongly suspect Everton have not investigated the company’s methods before releasing the list of members.
I’d be interested to see on Saturday what the ’Free Draw’ is for!
An evening with Graham Sharp maybe?

It’s not dodgy, it was on the front page, the offer was on the front page of the on official site last week, and here’s as well. http://www.evertonfc.com/everton-cars.html

There is a bit of marketing going on amongst club members though - I had someone knock on my front door the other day and ask if I wanted to be an Everton player for the day!

Data Protection - Smection. I had the same call and I don’t mind, EFC are trying to be pro-active in selling their database or perhaps they have arranged a ’back end split’. What are you moaning about? There’s a 9 month backlog at the Data Commissioners office, plus they don’t really care. Tesco’s have the largest private database and they are selling it to the government for something like £27m, say no to the Nectar card or whatever it’s called..

You?ll be getting a call from a Mr Duncan Ferguson shortly asking if you would like to by (sic) a pet pigeon.

And if you say no there’ll be a knock on your door from the big man himself wanting to know why not while shaking you warmly by the throat!!
