Toffeeweb Poll

Comments (28)

Just taking things one step further and on the evidence of today's feedback may I suggest that the wording of the current Toffeeweb Poll be changed to:

"Following the summer transfer business, are the Blues now suitably equipped to compete at home and abroad with Moyes at the helm?"

Or even better, how about a new poll:

"Given that Moyes has an un-erring propensity for dubious team line-ups, ill-thought out tactics, ineffective football and a selection of players who are obviously flawed in the positions they are asked to play in, how much longer are you prepared to tolerate this?"

Options:

a) 1 Week
b) 1 Month
c) 5 Years
d) Already had enough

Oh no, I shouldn't be criticising ? I should be applying to be a football manager! (Tools)

Anthony, some of your contributions are really poorly thought and and to be honest are this particular one is quite silly.
You dont finish fourth in the premier league if you're a poor tactician! The club is on the up under Moyes, albeit not being pretty at times.

Yep, sack Moyes because we failed to beat the champions.

whilst i wholeheartedly agree that evertonians deserve to be able vent their frustrations and concerns, we have earned it, sometimes i get the feeling some fans are purely playing devil’s advocate to provoke a response and make themselves the centre of attention/conversation. I am not cirticising this posting in particular, and it is obviously written by a very disgruntled fan who is unhappy with the progress made under moyes, i am merely venting my own frustration after reading on a daily basis all the criticism aimed at our club and individuals within our club. i do not agree with everythin moyes and the board do, that is never gonna happen no matter who you support, bu i do think that they put 100% into trying make this club great (in terms of success) again. the ridiculous idea that the likes of wyness and kenwright are in this for their own gain is, in my mind,a completely ill thought out point of view with no substance. that whole argument is for another day and maybe a proper postin from myself when i feel the need, probably the next time bradley spouts up with more politically motivated quotes and childish argumentative chunnerings.
the whole idea that moyes has taken us as far as he can, knows no tactics, uses the wrong players in the wrong positions hold no (in the main) water from my seat in the lower gwladys. on the tactics point for instance does someone on here actually speak to moyes and knows the tactics he employs? or are these arguments purely based on the team play? you only see what you want to see, remember. every manager has critics, and i for one criticise moyes for playin neville. if he is to play (and he always will) then put him right back and put someone with a bit of class in the centre with jags (who always looks shattered to me! and is it me or is he slower than we thought he’d be?!)admittedly if tommy g is fit then maybe this will happen (as moyes hinted in the interviews after the game) so i will reserve judgement until we have a full squad to choose from.

well i could go on and on.. i suppose the time is right for me send a posting in which is more succinct and well written... i will leave off sayin i have complete faith in moyes, we are in the best position (not league) we have been in for about 20 years, moyes has his own squad, money to spend in january(in theory), and i genuinely believe this team is goin places and i for one think it will be moyes to bring us long long long overdue success...

see ya around.

Yeah Steve. Great idea. Then we could have got someone like Mourinho, Wenger or Ferguson in. They could have brought in the likes of Drogba, Lampard, Van Persie, Ronaldo. All our problems would be solved.

List of players Moyes should bring in, in Jan:
GK - Ben Foster
RB - Gary Neville
CH - John Terry
CH - Jonathon Woodgate
LB - Ashley Cole
MR - David Beckham (think of the shirt sales)
ML - Ronaldinho
MC - Essien
MC - Steven Gerrard
CF - Thierry Henry
CF - Ruud Van Nistelrooy

If he doesn’t bring all these players in - it shows he has no idea and he should be sacked

Hey Mark, I think I relied to you in an earlier post on the subject of who I would have as manager,1 Mark Hughes, you obviously never read my reply. Guess what tho, he wouldnt have brought any of the above in and he would be great for us. Sparky is a winner mate, we will win fuck all with Bulgin Eyes in charge.

Anthony Newall

The bottom line we all care it is just a little too early for me to consider the need for Moyes to be removed.

You made a lot of valid [oints many many of them that I tollagree with.

As already stated my otion is not there so I would abstain on your vote. I am willing to wait for January see who we sign (central midfield) then I will make my own decision at the end of the season.

It has taken quite a while to get us here but we started from a poor position. We are nearly there and I will hold judgement until the end of this season on Moyes ability to take us further.

Steve I did read that post about Hughes - but really he’s had similar backing at Blackburn as Moyes has had at Everton - and he started with a better squad. I think he’s a decent manager but Blackburn finished 10th last year whilst we finished 6th - and they’re still behind us now.

I rate sparky as a manager but I don’t think he’s any better than what we’ve already got.

I honestly feel that there are certain Everton ’supporters’ round here who enjoy themselves more when our club loses. Anthony, nothing personal mate, but some of you only really shine while dragging the mood even further down after a loss.

Look, I’m not pleased with today, nor can I imagine anyone else affiliated with the club being so. But, as far as I can tell, there were enough lacklustre performances today to go around. I can’t entirely blame our manager for that.

P.S Anthony my initial reply was pulled and an edited version was put as a new mailbag item.

Mark, he has less time in the job and if memory serves me right he has taken Blackburn into Europe twice, the man has actually got a soft spot for us and is a real leader of men.
What did Moyes ever achieve as a player ?
Whats your take on what he will achieve with us ?
Mark Stone
15   Posted 15/09/2007 at 22:08:41

Moyes had nothing like the level of success that Sparky had as a player - but neither did Ferguson, Mourinho or Wenger!!!
Yes he’s taken them to Europe twice - but this year it’s only via the intertoto cup. They finished above us in 2005 so you could argue that we surpassed them last season?

All in all I don’t think he’s any better than Moyes.
Mark Stone
16   Posted 15/09/2007 at 22:17:50

And what do I think Moyes will achieve?

I really don’t know but I think what he has achieved already is fantastic and shouldn’t be punished for that! If the team had stopped improving I’d be disappointed but I believe that this season we’re the best we’ve been for getting on for 20 yrs.

I dread to thik what would happen if he left - look at Bolton

17   Posted 15/09/2007 at 22:26:17

Mark how old are you fella ?
You think that what Moyes has done is fantastic ?
No offence here, I think you are a great Blue but we aint gonna agree on FANTASTIC, I hope you witness it with Everton mate I really do, cos there is nothing sweeter.
Mr David Moyes is not the man that will bring it you tho

Regarding polls there is one I can think of which would have nearly 100% of the vote,

Where do you feel our priority should be in strengthening the squad in January.

Up front 0%
Defence 05
Midfield 100%
Roy coyne
19   Posted 15/09/2007 at 22:25:54

I am not a Moyes fan mainly because he never appears to have a plan B,But lets not forge t we were playing against the champions today who can and do spend a lot more than us .If we suddenly got a owner with loads of cash then Moyes would not be my choice to manage but working on his budget I dont think any one else who would take the job would improve much so lets see how the next few games pan out before we get in a tizzy

20   Posted 15/09/2007 at 22:37:23

Tony, I think I would have to abstain from your vote based on a missing option!!!

No, seriously, you have said on another post that you would give Moyes until the end of this season and I’d say that’s about right. I respect you for answering what is an uncomfortable question
Mark Stone
21   Posted 15/09/2007 at 22:39:02

Steve I’m old enough to have seen the glory days of the 80’s, thanks! But I’m talking relatively. Having been the laughing stock of the premier league for 15+ yrs and with no money it would have taken a magician, never mind a football manager to have brought the glory days back to goodison. But under Moyes we have gradually improved year after year, and as I’ve said in my mailbag topic it’s only because of the good job Moyes has done that our expectations are so high.

Mate I’d love Everton to be challenging for league titles but those days were long gone by the time Moyes took over - and for me he deserves a chance to prove he take us to the next stage.
Mark Stone
22   Posted 15/09/2007 at 22:54:24

P.S. Steve I’ve asked the question of who would you bring in a number of times when people have been calling for Moyes head - but no-one has ever had the foresight to answer before - so fair play for that mate!
